The Pentacle isn't really used all that much by Wiccans. It's more used by eclectic neo-pagans.
Not really sure where you got this information but it is wrong. Gardnerian Wiccans most definitely use the pentagram. It is used in the form of a pentacle, as well as in ritual work. Alexandrian Wiccans also use the pentagram, also in the form of a pentacle. From what little I know of Dianic Witchcraft (once titled Dianic Wicca, though the title has since been laid aside), they too use the pentagram. I won't even bother discussing the Frosts.
You will offend quite a lot of people by saying "It's more used by eclectic neo-pagans". Eclectic means they do not follow one specific path, so generalizing that "they" use it more is naive. No one eclectic pagan has the exact same beliefs or practices. There is ALWAYS something that varies, that's why they are eclectic. Not sure why you differentiate neo-pagan from Wiccan either, as Wicca is still a fairly new religion, and most often classified as neo-pagan by other Pagans.
There are people whos practices come mainly from Neo-druidism, Celtic, Norse, or Egyptian practices that do not use the pentagram at all.
I can't really say that there are things I do not know about my religion, as I myself am an eclectic pagan and I believe simply what I believe and I practice what I feel to be the right way to practice.
