After another hour, Kardus' replacement arrived and relieved him of his duty. He returned to the department and checked back in. It was his first day, so he only had a short shift. He was off the rest of the day.

He checked out and returned to his dorm. He took off his uniform and slipped into more comfortable clothes: a short-sleeved red shirt, a short-sleeved blue-black jacket, and jeans. He headed back out. Now it was time for some fun. Work hard, play hard, he always said. He made his way to the student union, a popular spot to meet people.
