Maansi lay in the shadows. She was watching a Sinta'har giving a lesson to a young one. She was transfixed to the spot when she hid, memorizing the stances the movements and wondering what position the young one was training for, what he wished to do.

She grinned feeling proud of her ability to grasp terms and rules of the pride. They were not a simple bunch, instead so proud and sure. Their customs and everything about them intrigued her so thoroughly. For once she the though of leaving had not even crossed her mind.

Maansi re-focused her thoughts and continued watching the pair as they changed their movements in preparation around round in the training session.

The Tournament of Heirs had come and gone, the throne was set and the new Aran'shale recognized. It had been a tumultuous change for the pride but Drathir, strong and sure, had fought his way through the other Heirs to take the title. The buzz had lasted for several days after his recognition by Morifaer and he followed through on his instructions - to mingle and speak and know his underlings.

One such demon now crouched in the shadows, her attention fixed on the sinta'har and the cub being taught. Arching a brow, he shook his head in recognition - the female he'd met while out wandering was still here, apparently, and eagerly learning. That was promising.

"Maansi," he spoke softly, padding up behind her with silent steps, "Are you stalking those two or are you observing?" He tilted his head towards the pair then glanced back at her."

Maansi ears twitched as she was addressed, turning to see her address. She sat up seeing who addressed her and grinned her feral grin, though it was slight. "Aran'shale Drathir," she greeted him before looking back at the pair in quest.

"Observing," she stated simply.

She watched them silently for a moment, "They seem to move in a way unlike other's I have seen in my travels. Much like most thing about the demons, it is worth knowing."

Maansi stood and turned to Drathir, "For now I have enjoyed being a silent learner. Most do not outwardly appear to notice my presence or they do not care. I figure it is the latter."

Her attentions were now fully on Drathir, whose own presence was something she could not seem to work over in her mind, not that she was not trying.

He nodded to her, though the title still needed to settled with him. It was a heavy mantle, yes, but he was enjoying the respect it demanded of the pride. For once, demons could not gainsay him without fear of justified reprisal.

"Those who are wise know to train from an early age. Only the strong survive here, the weak are weeded out," Drathir replied with a nod, "It is likely they do not care - if you tried to interrupt, I imagine they would use you as a lesson. Aggression is not taboo here." Smiling slightly at that, he arched a brow, "If you seek your demon, speak to the Teachers - do not just watch them. When you are ready, approach the priestess and you will be guided to the volcano and the gods within. Find, too, your loyalty."

There was an edge of warning there, as well as an attempt to mingle, "There are two factions within this pride - those who call to Morifaer, and those who call to Sparda. As Morifaer's Aran'shale it is obvious to whom I pledge my loyalty." He tilted his head, noting her intense attention and tossed his head before settling again. This one held no fear? It was a good sign.

Maansi ears were forward a bit, an odd quirk, as if to catch any bit of information thrown at her, though they moved slightly which let you know she was also very clearly paying close attention to her surrounding. She was greatly enjoying the private mini lesson, though Drathir's words made her smirk.

"Though I have just come here, I have watched and learned so much more than one can gain from staying in one place. I've no doubt you venture out and evn gain new member, but if I were to interrupt there lesson they may try to use me as a lesson, but it is they who would learn one."

Maansi sounded confident and assured of this fact and having watched them for some time she highly doubted she was wrong.

"However, I will not be foolhardy. I seek my demon so I will do as you say and speak with the teachers, after all watching them can only gain me so much. I simply like to watch and gage first. Trust that I most assuredly wish to enter the volcano."

His words on loyalty were foreign to her. All her life she only needed to be loyal to herself and her learning. It seemed strange thing, but something she wished to explore further. She wondered if she would truly find loyalty in the volcano.

"Morifaer and Sparda. The gods of your pride? Of the demons? And you are loyal to Morifaer. He must be very powerful and wise?"

Maansi questing statements showed her curiosity and her desire to know more. It seemed to her right now, that this pride could be her playground in way. With so much she did not know about them and the time it was taking to even scrape the surface, she could be eternally facinated. She felt at home in a way.

He arched a brow at her confident comment and tossed his head but said nothing. Overconfidence and underestimating opponents here was a dangerous game when each and every soul was seeking glory at any cost. Even he, the new Aran'shale was not immune to the aggression and subterfuge that coursed through the pride. His job was to channel those energies out into the world where it would be destructive for their enemies and productive for the pride.

"The gods of our pride, yes. And, yes, Morifaer is very powerful and wise... he is like a father to me. He - more then my own flesh and blood - has trained and raised me." Drathir nodded seriously, "It is because of his attention that I have been able to achieve my goals."

After Drathir spoke, Maansi turned her eyes back to the student and teacher for a second wondering if she would be trained in such a way. She knew that if she was she would revel in her training. She turned back to him and grinned slightly.

"If that is so than I cannot wait to meet him. Is sparda the same as he wise and powerful? Have you any of the same fondness for him?" Maansi wondered on the comment about his own family, but she was unsure if she should question him on it. Of course she wanted to know, but there was a time and place for everything and she was of the notion that now was not the time for that subject.

No, she thought, she would definitely stick to the little lesson. That conversation was for another day, fore she would surely ask.

"I've noticed the training seems to be specific from what I've watched and it makes me wonder what he is training for. What he will do for the pride."

"I have not met my grandfather. He has not made his presence know to the pride yet and I do not know the reason for his absence. No, I do not have the same fondness for him... though he parallels my father well in that aspect. Tch." Breaking off from his current train of thought, Drathir glanced over to the training pair.

"There are general hunters and those skills apply to all ranks. But... the specialized things, like the knights, and the discipliners... that training only begins when they are of age to do so - after they've learned their true name." He padded over to the two and stood for a moment, waiting for them to notice Drathir and when they did, they paused.

"What are you training for, young one?"

The cub blinked, moved to shy away from the Aran'shale but a clawed paw to the rear kept the young lion from backing up, "Ah... I want to be a Neumar, Aran'shale. To go find others like us?" When Drathir nodded, the cub's ears flicked forward and he tackled the offending paw of his teacher when the king turned away.

"Seeker. One must be able to be subtle and strong with that rank... though for now, I believe he's only learning to fight." Drathir spoke to Maansi when he returned to her side. "Only time will tell if he is strong enough to attain that goal."

Maansi gave Drathir a look as if to say I'm curious, but I won't ask, not just yet. She felt a little irritated by the lack of information he would lend about himself. She almost sighed knowing the demons, seemed to be very guarded and it could take time to move through each layer.

He spoke on the training and the gears and her mind started to turn. She did not know all of the ranks within the pride and it was surprising to her to hear an adult would need further training though they'd been training since their cubhood. She never thought the training could be so vigourous, but it was not something she could know. She knew she tended her whole self into the things she did and intensisty was something she hardly noticed.

He thought were interupted by Drathir movement across her vision, she almost go up to follow, but figured she should just watch him. She pointed her ears forward in an effort to better catch there words and off course her keens ears did just that, though she did not completely grasp what the cubs spoke of.

It clicked into place when Drathir used a more common vocabulary for the rank. She allowed the words to sink into her memory.

"I will need to do something for the pride. Though we've only spoke twice, do you think there is something that I may be suited for?"

He paused to seriously think about an answer to the question she had posed. "Your role...? You listen well, perhaps a Teacher or a Mediator? Even a Council member if you prove suitable enough." Nodding, Drathir considered her for a moment longer. She did not strike him as suitable for the Morifaer-specific ranks, not unless she was hiding a particularly vicious otherself.

A smirk, perhaps a smile, played across his features. "Once you have found your Demon's Name, come back to me and we will discuss your true nature and the calling it is best suited for, Maansi."

Maansi smirked at the suggestion, she did listen well and she learned quickly. She thought about whether she would indeed be able to teach and was uncertain whether that was the best direction for her to take. She knew not what a mediator did for certain, but she knew what it was to mediate and thought she might be well suited for it. The last suggestion was very appealing and seemed very important. She liked the sound of being a member of the council and hoped she would indeed prove herself suitable.

Maansi rose, "All of your suggestions are well placed. Have you figured me out so easily." She paused for a second, "No I do not think so," she smirked lightly.

"I will talk to the teacher and learn all I can. I will talk to the preist and when I recieve my name I will indeed return to you and have the discussion of my future."

Maansi was not sure whether she should leave or not, but she felt like the conversation was at an end.

He nodded at that and tossed his mane, turning away then, "Good. See to it, that you do, earn your place among us."

With that, he started away. Drathir couldn't quite place it, but he was interested in this one... she was not so violent as the disdainful demons to fancied their wanton destruction as Morifaer-given. There was so much more to being demonic then there was to simple destruction... and that Maansi was interested in such things, well, her willingness to learn intrigued him... and told him he might have a significant paw in shaping her reality if he so chose.

And that, really, appealed to the lion immensely. He could show another how to be a proper demon... a truly proper demon, and avoid the aloof chill that Verge'lian carried with him and the self-destructive insanity Iartuupe once embraced.

"Make sure you do, Maansi." He called back before he disappeared in among the others.

Maansi watched as Drathir left her. His words rang in her ears. She turned and walked away, the conversation churning in her head. He stomach growled slightly refocusing her thought. It was time for her to hunt, she would have to find a teacher later.

Maansi quickly changed direction, heading for the hunting ground. A full stomach always helped her to think more clearly.
