User ImageThe large, white lion was sitting atop one of his favorite dunes, near his den. He was looking out over the sands, most of the time anyway, watching lions around this collection of dens go about their days. He saw cubs and adults alike, the former playing or training, the latter training or going about their duties.

He closed his eyes, sometimes, though, and let the sounds of the day, of the sand at his feet, drift up to him instead. He was perfectly at peace, almost in a meditative state, contemplating his own duties as he prepared himself in this way for the day ahead. It was something he did every morning, almost, to center himself and simply because he enjoyed quiet moments like these.

For the most part he was left alone, though sometimes he had others coming up to greet him. Friendly by nature, he never said no to a conversation or a meeting, always eager to meet members of his pride or just get to know ones he had already met better.

There was importance in it, knowing who lived here, who his extended family was, who made up the pride he was so deeply invested in. Sighing, he opened his eyes and looked around once more, standing and shaking some clinging sand from his fur before making to pad down the easy slope of the dune.
