karate chop kitten I read that since the re introduction of wolves to Yellowstone the elk population has gone from 20,000 down to around 5,000.
The bulk of that was my dad with a Black Powder Rifle, but that's for another topic..
Certainly, the protection of livestock and home is a good argument for such a thing, but it's a minor one as there are many more humane (and with the price of ammo, cost-effective..) means to preventing Wolves from moving onto one's property, and driving ones already there away.. Sure, spraying your property line with a few dozen or so aerosol cans of concentrated musk can be tedious, but it works, as does a simple dollar-store air horn or other extremely loud noisemaker.
This is just one massive political game to score easy votes from Hunters, Trappers, and even a few illegal Poachers here and there.. With so many other alternatives to hunting Wolves readily and cheaply available, for them to say guns are the only real way to resolve the situation seems to support the theory of politics above all else.
