I lost intrest in the series when it started swaying towards TamakixHaruhi, I just don't see the charater devlopment going anywhere in that relationship, I would have liked to see HikaruxHaruhi .... but I think I may start reading again real soon

I absolutely love this series. I have wall scrolls and notebooks and merch of it XD
I've yet to re-attempt the manga. (art style kills me)
But it sounds like I need to lol.
I was so excited about it being released here. Until I heard who was voicing Tamaki. Then my heart Cried out in sorrow (Fma hater)
Then I heard the English version of Shissou. Then I just completely died inside. I've yet to come back from it actually.
Anyone have the english box set? Does it have a setting where you can watched it subbed if you prefer that? I hate the english voices, and that alone really does prevent me from purchasing it. haha.

i know.......it just doesn't seem right listening to animes in english anymore.....they always sound so....different than you imagine they SHOULD sound like. ever notice how you associate a certain sound or timber around a character from the japanese, then you get to the english, and you're going "WTFH??? that does NOT sound like him" or "that is SO not how i would have voiced her..." ........anyone notice that? lol...or am i the only one crying (which i doubt...some of my great genius is in all most likelihood unoriginal... :'{ lol....a lot of it, probably)

Like. I've only watched the Japanese Soul eater. In which Soul and Death the kidd, Have very deep voices. Watch the american dubs give them voices that don't even remotely match that. Im not saying find the deepest manliest voice you could possibly find. But don't get a 13 year old girl to do it xD

Oh yes. I had EXACTLY the same reaction when they released the English dub of Clannad. I was practically screaming. WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO CLANNAD?! THEY'VE BUTCHERED IT! My sister said it sounded fine to her, and I needed to stop being a Subbed Elitist. But yeah, I MUCH prefer subbed to dubbed. Oh, and as for OHSHC? I'm re watching it, just for the heck of it. biggrin

yeah, i've long given up on trying to watch the dubed versions of anime...the voices they pick out just annoy the hellz out of me and then they butcher the characters and leave a buncha s**t out!!! crying and that just pisses me off when they leave crap that the Japanese versions have! scream i don't know about any one else but i watch all my anime in japenese with english subs for fear my favorite characters will end up like yugi-oh (not a yugi-oh fan sorry) and have old man voices... sweatdrop anyone else get bothered by that? stare

Yeah, I thought I was missing some stuff in the English versions. For example, the part where Haruhi starts refering to herself as Ore, and Tamaki freaks out, kinda gets lost in the English version. It's there, but Ore is translated to "I" and Tamaki screaming "Girls should not refer to themselves as I!" just doesn't make sense to anyone who doesn't speak Japanese. I'm not exactly sure what got cut out entirely, but that joke probably should've been among them. Yes, I've watched some of the dubbed episidoes of Ouran HSHC, but I think the subbed ones are much better.

I have the English box set but I haven't checked for a subbed version...I'll get back to you on that. I'm okay with Vic for Tamaki, like, ehhh alright. The ending theme...;3; Vic did his own take on it and it sounds better than the current one for the English version but they didn't want to use it.
I heard someone say something about not liking the art style in the manga so much... Really? Interesting. Well, in my opinion the first few are kinda..ehh..I dont know. But the art improves throughout the series. And one FABULOUS thing about the manga is the extras! Ohhh, they're soooo funny~<33

yeah if any one's worried about the art style don't worry it usually gets better through out the series; maybe except for some korean manga's that i've read...

I'm up to date with the manga as well!Volume 14, reading as releasing. As for what I said earlier, I watched my English Ouran DVDs recently and it comes with English dub, Japanese dub, and English sub for either choice. So you can watch it in Japenese with the English subtitles if you'd like. Funimation translation is so-so. Also, the outakes are availible in the DVDs I have. They're just so funny!A lot of voice actors have a great sense of humor.
I agree with General, I don't know how, but the art in Ouran gets better every time! I look back at my older volumes and it's a really noticeable difference.

I agree with General, I don't know how, but the art in Ouran gets better every time! I look back at my older volumes and it's a really noticeable difference. She actually made a comment about this in one of the volumes. Specifically referring to Haruhi's eyes, and how they were too big and she would slowly be fixing that over time. That's only to be expected. As a person gets used to drawing the same characters over and over again, they're going to find ways to hone their skills.
