Gali didn't exactly frown, but her face grew pensive. Nyota was talking about being nobles and learning skills as two different paths. Gali couldn't see things as so black and white; there must be a way to stay a noble and still offer something more to the pride. Nyota was right though. Gali would have to talk to her father, at least, before she would really learn anything.
She stood nervously, her tail twitching periodically as she made her way to the cave entrance. She paused once to look back at Nyota, taking in the excited and expectant look on her sister's face. Of course Nyota would always be the risk taker in the family. Gali turned back to her task and with her shoulders hunched up slightly crept towards the door.
Gali waited until she saw the guard go by, her magenta eyes sharp as she counted time off with her tail. There. He should be at the end of the circuit. Gali took a breath, and then slipped out the entrance being as obviously inconspicuous as possible. She kept her eyes on the nearby rock that could shelter her if the guard were to see her, but in the corner of her eye she saw him turn.
"Hey now!"
Gali glanced up at him, genuinely panicked-- Mother was going to be so mad at her later-- and broke into a run away from the den. The guard, knowing he needed to keep an eye on all of the cubs and figuring the others were still behaving, gave chase, catching up to her more quickly than Gali had expected. She'd known Nyota wouldn't have long, adults could cover more space than cubs could, but she just hoped Nyota had the time to get out of sight before the guard turned back to the cave with his recaptured bundle.

Nyota waited just inside the cave entrance as Gali slipped out. She hoped this distraction would work since if it didn't they would both be in trouble. Of course she knew Gali would get in trouble either way, but she appreciated her sisters sacrifice for her and made a note to maybe bring her something nice when she returned later. She watched the guard take off after Gali and after a slight hesitation to make sure no other guards joined in she slipped out of the den.
Nyota ran, and ran hard, hoping to put as much distance between her and the den as possible so that should the guard discover her missing when he returned Gali he would have to work to catch her. Freedom, sweet glorious freedom! And all thanks to her lovely sister Gali.
