Uggi was feeling really sad lately. Since she had been transfered to another pad, she was really nervous and alone feeling even though she could visit her mom if she wanted... it wasn't the same being away from her siblings and her doting mother... the other den mates tried to make her feel welcome but she just didn't want it right now... she wanted to feel sad.
She missed her mothers smell so much she had gone and collected some dead grass, that was what her mommy smelled like constantly as that was her hobby, making sure the beds were lined with fresh dried grass everyday. Course, since she had been given away, she had noticed her mom stopped this task for her father and her aunty.
This made her feel so guilty, she could just about cry.

Her brother had asked a favor of her, and Amani would never turn down the chance to help him. And this chance was a very good one, as well. Although, honestly, her heart broke for the little cub, being tossed from one family to the next. She hesitated as she caught sight of the little girl, feeling so torn at the sad expression on her face. She had run into so many sad females recently, she thought. It made her so glad that she was Nywele's beybanu. "Hello, sweetie," she said quietly from behind the little cub. "Would you like to talk?"

Uggi sighed, rubbing her nose against the dried grass and inhaling. She was trying to be strong for her mom and her siblings and be a big girl for everyone but it still it felt so horrible to be away and with this strangers. She sighed again, pressing her cheek to her paws and shutting her red eyes.
She opened her eyes when someone spoke to her. She lifted her head, spying one of the members he didn't really know well. She sniffled, crossing her paws and gazing at them shyly. "I-I guess so..." She said simply, pawing at the dried grass lightly, her eyes soft and sad.

"It isn't easy, is it?" Amani asked, sitting in front of the cub and watching her with gentle eyes. "I wasn't much older than you when they gave me to my first pad. He was a very good lion, but I missed my brothers horribly."
She was hoping that her little story might make the little one open up. Those soft, sad eyes were just begging for someone to tell their worries to. "Do you have brothers?" she asked.

Uggi wiggled side to side and got comfortable as the grey lioness seated herself in front of her. She looked up at her, her olive face so sad looking. "No... I am trying really hard to be strong for my mom but its hard... she's so mad at my father right now... I'm scared she may get herself in trouble with my father..."
She wriggled side to side again. "Yeah... a couple... and sisters too... I miss them... I miss them a lot... I miss hearing them snore and playing with them" She said, rubbing her cheek against the grass again. "My mom smells like grass all the time."

"It's a lovely smell," Amani said. "It reminds me of warm summer nights, and looking up at the stars." She smiled at the little one. "I'm going to admit, I'm a bit jealous of all those noises you mentioned. My pad and I have yet to have cubs. It's very lonely in our den, with just the two of us."

Uggi sighed. "My mom had 6 I think... and my aunt had 5 I think with my dad and he had 4 more with my other aunt but she had to go away cause she was bad... so I had a lot of siblings... " She said, sighing. "Mom isn't taking this well... her first pride she had cubs there and when my father took her, she had to leave her babies behind... but i guess one of them found her and is joining the pride now... so thats good... that makes her happy."
She shifted. "Who's your pad?" She asked, looking over at her questioningly. Not like she even knew who he was. "I feel funny cause I am not much use right now.. I can't do much except look after the babies... which isn't really as fun as I had hoped... I just don't feel like it right now

"Well, my pad is Nywele," Amani said. "You'd recognize him if you saw him. He has lots and lots of mane, and it's braided nice and prettily by his familiar, Mr. Birdy. He's a very, very good lion," she told the little one.
"You know," she went on. "If you'd like, you could come with me. I don't think my brother Faiz would mind it at all, and it might make my den a little less lonely. Then you could help me with the little things I do for the pride, like teaching cubs and checking in on new banu."

Uggi listened to the lionesses words and thought about them. This lioness was pretty nice and sort of reminded her of her mom too... so maybe it wouldn't be the worst thing... and the description of her pad sounded okay... lots of mane... hmmm... "Would Faiz do that... I mean... do you think he'd be okay with that? " She asked. "I don't want to make any trouble for anyone..."
She paused and looked at her feet modestly. "Can i still visit my mom too?"

"I think he would," she said. "But if you want to be certain, we can go talk to him and ask," she added, knowing the little one would feel better if she heard it for herself. "And of course you can visit your mom! Any time you like," she said with a nod. "In fact, we'll go see her after we talk to Faiz, how's that sound? That way she'll know where you'll be, so she can come visit you, as well! And then we'll tell our pad," she added a bit belatedly.

Uggi nodded. "Oh yes... can we go ask please!" She said, looking hopeful. "And'd I think it'd be good for my mother to see me... she was really sad when my da-... tariq gave me away..." She added simply.

"I know it might seem sad at first," Amani said carefully, "but I believe it will wind up very happy, just wait and see." She smiled at the cub and headed towards where she knew her brother would be. This, she thought, was a very good idea, indeed.
