Kaa turned back to the little bat to hide her grin. It was not difficult to read Zuri at all, and she thought it was adorable that he seemed worried. As if she was going to leave now that she was all hunky-dory with her muse. Right. It was still going to take her some time to get used to the idea of hearing voices in her head. Still, it was terribly interesting. Kaa couldn't imagine leaving these lands now. She only hoped they would welcome her into the pride permanently.

Jatukaa grinned at Zuri's offer. It did seem like the storm was starting to fade, but the rain was coming down as strong as ever. Besides, it would be much more pleasant to have such handsome company.

You have me too, don't forget . . . said a sleepy voice in her mind. She glanced down fondly at the bat before she carefully walked back to Zuri and stretched out next to him. He might have been shy, but Kaa certainly wasn't. She leaned right up against him and grinned into his face.

"Thank you! That is very kind of you to offer. This is much more pleasant."

She was a lot more bold than he was. Zuri's cheeks flushed red when she pressed herself against him and he accidentally got lost in her eyes. Her face was so close. She was so close. It was hard to believe that she had been a stranger to him less than a day ago.

Could this be the work of fate?

The voices laughed at him.

"This is nice," he murmured softly and then, not quite sure what else he could do, returned his chin to his paws and let his eyes flutter closed.

Sleep did not claim him. The big lion simply lay there, and tried to look peaceful, but her close proximity was making it difficult for him to think of anything else. If he wasn't used to having guests, he was even less accustomed to cuddling.

And that was the only thing he could think of to call what they were doing.

Jatukaa watched him and grinned. She debated on whether to go easy on him or to continue. She decided it would be best to be polite, so she shifted away from him slightly, just enough that he could have a little of his own space and not so much that it would seem like she was trying to move away from him.

She chuckled over the expression on his face a little bit before she too placed her chin on her paws. Her little bat friend grumbled a bit before making his way over to her back where he could hang comfortably and not be in danger of getting squished.

Kaa was warm and safe. She was still a little flustered from the whole incident, but she was beginning to regard it with the humor that it deserved, rather than the fear she had felt originally. It had definitely been an interesting day.

She peeked one eye open to glance at Zuri with another smile before she closed it again.
