In a far flung future, there is a vast, galaxy spanning religion and empire. Known as the Black Steel Empire, they remain present on nearly every planet in the Arachne galaxy, ensuring the rule of Urizen Vong the Second. With troops in every sector they crush any attempts at resisitance mercilessly and cruel governers oppress people in the sectors they rule. Life however, is diverse, with hundreds of different races in the galaxy and artificial intelligence common. The smallest of beginnings may begin the greatest of changes in this world. And the first change may be found on the frontier world of Chiodos, where two former members of the Iron Guard, the soldiers recruited from the civilian population are beign transferred to a new jail.

Background Information
The Iron Guard
The Auxiliaries of the Black Steel Empire, Iron Guard are recruited from the civilian population of the galaxy. Dressed in lighter variants of the armour used by their counterparts in the Steel Legion, the Guard provide peace keeping, security and defense for the Empire, using multi purpose weaponry and riot supression equipment, they have a reputation for being brutal and crude, with their leaders operating as mercenary commanders much of the time. It is common for young men and women of all races to join up, due to the lack of industry in several sectors.
Equipment: X-21 Burst Rifles, Dragons Tooth missile launchers, Guardian class light armour, Iron Hound Motorcycles
The Steel Legion
Genetically Engineered, mass cloned and expendable, The Steel Legion are bred to be ruthless, caring little if at all for civilian populations, often instrumental in maintaining the Emperor's control over his subordinates. They wear heavier armour than their counterparts, except for their commanders, who are bred specifically for a purpose as a one off and maintain personal arms and the elite Blue Flame Guard, who dress in blue leather and chainmail and wield Revolverblades.
Equipment:X-33 Combat Rifles, Gauss Thrower, Flamescythes, Carapace Class Heavy Armour or specialised armour.

Weaponry: Whilst laser weaponry is still relatively rare, energy weapons themselves are becoming fairly commonplace. The standardised Burst weaponry is a good example of this, directing pulses of highly charged plasma towards their target at high speeds. However, slug throwing autoguns and shotguns are still the status quo throughout the empire. Alien races are known to employ their own unique weapons, which can often use exotic means to acheive similar goals. Melee weapons are also still popular, ranging from simple cudgels and bladed weapons to the phase swords and flamescythes employed by Steel Legion members.

Alien Races:
La'pin: the rabbit like La'pin evolved as one of the dominant races on their lush plains world, fast becoming a technologically advanced ecologically utopian race. They are often found on colony worlds or as part of the Iron Guard where they are known for their skills in recon positions.
Fel'purr: Agile, carnivorous and self serving, the Fel'purr found great amounts of interest when their expeditionary forces first encountered the Black Steel Empire, since they were the first digitigrade bipeds found and they had also created a near word for word translation of the Fountainhead independent of human nature, along with the rest fo the works of Ayn Rand, who they revere as a great mind. They are usually found as businesssmen and politicians on frontierworlds, finding fortune as administrators and viziers overseeing governers, though they are also rumoured to work as spies.
Ka'nin: The tough, omnivourous Ka'nin are known for being able to survive in any climate equally well, working as Iron Guard in huge numbers. They adhere to a strong family and military tradition, training in combat from their youngest years, to instil a pack mentality regardless of family association. They have a reputation for being stupid, but they are incredibly loyal and determined, often becoming sheriffs on most worlds.
Arcadians: The reptilian Arcadians are reknowned for their several varied sub species, ranging from the thick set Swamp dwelling Crocmaws to the slow moving, armoured Chelonaut scholars. There can be no knowing all the variations of these species, since they have a reputation for secretiveness. They only tend to be involved with colonisation of warm and marine planets. It is rarer to find them in the Iron Guard due to their reluctance to enter the military, though they are known for their quality as assasins.
