I remember when I read each of the Twilight books within three hours (but across three days, one a day)

I've got this huuuge illustrated version, it's really awesome...all the pictures are colored spreads and yeah...it's epic^^

-skim the long descriptions and the songs, which are good but tend to go on and on.
-get a large print, illustrated edition or your eyes may explode.

I liked The Hobbit more than the Lord of the Rings books. I have read The Hobbit twice, and honestly never made it through the Fellowship. The Lord of the Rings trilogy just seems too long and wordy - plus I must make an awful confession. Since I watched the movies before the books, I couldn't get past the differences. Even though I know it's totally the wrong attitude to have, some part of me couldn't help but feeling the movies were right and it was the books that were messed up. I feel ashamed admitting that - that's why I call it a terrible confession. Anyway, the original post is from April, so no point speculating on if you can read it in a week. But I'm rambling now. My point - I thought the hobbit was a good book!

I haven't read it yet, but I think it's up next on my reading list. After my first read-through of The Secret Garden and Mists of Avalon, plus all the academic reading I'm doing...and there's that one sociology book I'm reading for fun. So really it's 3rd in line right now. Hopefully I'll get there soon, but I'm a slow reader plus a busy college student.
