Air- ✓
Novice: Air Blast: A more offensive move involving a direct pulse or jet of almost solid wind from the hands or feet. The force of the attack is generated more from the bender's own power rather than assisted by momentum. This direct blast can reach further with greater accuracy and is used to inflict greater damage.
Novice: Air Manipulation: By using circular, evasive movements, Airbenders build up massive inertia; this buildup of energy is released as massive power. It also allows for wind-based counterattacks that knock opponents off-balance, mimicking the sudden directional shifts of air currents. Attacks vary from simple gusts of wind to miniature tornadoes and cyclones, maintaining the circular theme. Even a simple movement can create an air gust, and Airbenders increase the power of their moves by performing larger sweeps and spins, using the momentum of their movement to simulate larger gusts. This is also demonstrated with their use of staffs or fans to increase or create precision within the air currents.
Novice: Air Punch/Kick: Another more offensive move than is typical of airbending discipline, air punches or air kicks are small, compressed formations of air that can be fired off the fists or feet of an airbender. This is similar to the air blast yet in the sense that it involves the firing of compressed or solidified air at an enemy in a non-continuous fashion i.e. the bender does not create a single great stream of air.
Novice: Air Shields: The most common defensive tactic involves circling enemies, suddenly changing direction when attacked and evading by physical movement rather than bending. However, an Airbender can still deflect as needed by throwing up gusts of air close to their bodies as a shield. This is rarely to stop attacks directly and more often pushes the attack aside and away, conserving energy and allowing them to turn the movement into an attack at the same moment. Since air can affect almost all physical objects, it can also be used to enforce the momentum of thrown objects or manipulate other objects (though requiring a higher degree of precision).
Novice: Breath of Wind: Very similar to standard air jet but created from the mouth and lungs. It requires extremely good breath control to employ effectively. Size and focus is more easily controlled, including narrow jets that can strike targets as small as insects, to large gale force gusts capable of cooling magma into solidified rock.
Adept: Air Barrier: This is a more powerful defensive technique where the entire body is surrounded by a dome of air that deflects attacks from all directions.
Adept: Air Funnel: Similar to an Air vortex but to a smaller scale.
Adept: Air Suction: A technique used to bring people or things towards the airbender.
Adept: Air Swipe: The air swipe is a dual defensive and offensive technique in which an airbender conjures a crescent-moon shaped construct of solidified air capable of deflecting colossal projectiles; (such as the catapulted flaming rocks often used by the Fire Navy ships) and sending them off-course.
Adept: Enhanced Agility: Air movements can also be used as a levitation aid. Airbenders jump high and far by riding on strong gusts of wind and can slow or deflect falls by creating cushions of air. The constant movement required by this art makes airbenders naturally flexible and agile. Even without actually bending they can easily maneuver around an opponent by ducking, jumping, and side stepping, appearing to flow around their opponents without expending any energy at all, letting the opponent tire themselves out and create exploitable openings. This conservation of energy combined with high stamina gives them an advantage in prolonged combat.
Teacher: Air Cannon: A form of air vortex. The bender spins their hands creating a tunnel of wind that can shoot out items at targets. Most shots are wild shots. Requires someone else to "load the cannon" per say.
Teacher: Air Gun: With the tip of the fingers, the bender can shoot a blast of air at great speeds. The little blast of thick air, shot out in a strait line, can brake through wood leaving a hole, and giving enemies small bruising.
Teacher: Air Vortex: A spinning funnel of air of various sizes. This can be used to trap and disorient opponents or as a potent defense since it will deflect and repel any objects and can even throw them back at an opponent.
Teacher: Air Wake: By running in a circle and instantly building huge inertia, a master Airbender can shoot a blast of compressed air shaped like the user's body at a target. This move seems to have great concussive force.
Teacher: Multiple Target Attacks: An airbender can send large, wide-spanning waves of air towards multiple enemies with one long, sweeping motion from an airbending staff or from the bender's limbs.
Master: Air Blades: A more offensive move than is typical of Airbending principle, this involves a focus slicing air current that can cut through stone or timber with relative ease. This is frequently conjured with a staff rather than the body, using the narrow profile of the object to create a more focused and precise air movement. This move could prove fatal if used on an individual.
Master: Air Concussor: The air concussor is a highly destructive move (atypical for Air Nomad principle) in which an airbender creates (with use of a staff) a thin wave of air that travels quickly along the ground, releasing a near-explosive power when coming into contact with anything in its path.
Master: Air Spout: Similar to the Water Spout, master Airbenders are able to rotate and control the direction of the Air Spout enough to levitate them off the ground and remain in the air for as long as they wish to or can maintain it.
Master: Mini-Tornado: This is a smaller scaled version of the air vortex which airbending masters can use as a means of both combat and transport. By encircling themselves in a spiralling air current, masters can travel at high speeds and even ascend near-verticle drops.
➢ At any given time, during combat or not, Vert may mix and match anything he knows to form new techniques. He will also use all of his vast knowledge to form new techniques on the spot.

Fighting Style [Name]
➢ Pai Qua Quan: Master Sage
➢ Tame Za Kyokudo: Stage Six
➢ Vert will utilize his body in unorthodox methods to create and use new styles of fighting techniques.

__________[background]>>>

Vert was born to an average family. His mother and father were both air benders. He had one sibling, but the girl died at a young age. He barely knew her, anyway. He didn't live an extraordinary life. In fact, he was often quite bored with how things were going.

That all changed one day. Vert met a man who said he could teach him. The idea was new. To actually be taught something by someone else instead of having to learn everything himself. It was completely alien. Because of this, he greedily accepted.

This was the beginning of his training in the Pai Qua Quan style of martial arts. For years, he spent every waking moment taking in the studies and teaching his body to move in ways he had never imagined. The success was obvious. And his Master had told him early that he was a great student. He learned things very quickly and his body adapted at remarkable speeds. He was called unique.

There came a day when the Master, an old man now, brought Vert to his small study. Sitting the young man down, for now he was into his mid teens, he looked the boy over. In those few minutes, Vert felt the weight of the world of his shoulders. He knew he was being sized up. And he was right.

The next few days were spent sparing with the Master. But unlike the spars of earlier, the old man was not holding back at all. It was taking everything Vert had as far as strength, knowledge, reflex, and intuition to keep himself from being killed. The old man was out for him. But when it was over, the old man looked satisfied.

He told Vert that he could no longer teach him anything. He had surpassed the old man in every aspect of the art. He was now a master himself. Only through independent study, countless sessions of delving further into his own body, could he possibly learn more. So that's what he did.

In secret, so that he could not ever be exploited for his ability, he did just that. It wasn't long before he was stretching what he already knew to greater limits. He had become a Master Sage.

Still studying his martial arts, Vert came to the realization that he could also bend. It was his 17th naming day when he was walking into town and came across something he would never forget. There were two guards picking on a small boy. The boy had apparently been caught stealing.

Stealing is a crime, and it should be punished. But the needless whipping of a small boy was uncalled for. He had always felt the need to defend the weak. Call it a sense of knightly justice, or whatever, he wasn't going to allow it to happen.

Being on the edges of Fire territory, he had no real understanding of the rank systems within the nation's army or that each and every solider was taught some degree of bending. It would turn out to be his folly.

He walked forth and met the men on equal terms. He offered his name with a stern warning to release the child. He was met with a sneer and the boy was only beaten more severely. This only proved to make Vert angry. In his anger, he made the first mistake.

He struck out and caught one of the guards in mid swing. Vert had never before faced anyone, outside of his previous Master, in real combat. He considered this his first real test. It would be his first, and one of his greatest, failures.

The second guard was quick. Quicker than anything the young air bender would have ever imagined. He had no idea this was a battle hardened fighter he was dealing with. The truth was simple. This wasn't some run of the mill guard. It was one of the nations most ruthless soldiers. And Vert had attacked another soldier in front of him.

Before Vert knew what was happening he was being assaulted by flames the like he had never before felt. His mind shut down because of the pain and he remembered nothing after that.

Outside of the small town, he was left for dead. The last thing he remembered seeing was the second soldier standing over the boy before he delivered a fatal blow. The boy would not make it. He had paid the ultimate price. Not for his crimes. He would have been released for what he had done, beaten and bruised, but not dead. He had paid because he was made an example of to teach others, more so Vert, what happened if you messed with the soldiers of the Fire Nation.

The boy had died because of him. He lost consciousness after that. Waking up in some sort of caravan wagon. His entire body hurt. There was an old woman sitting over him. Sadness in her eyes as if she had seen too much in her life and only wished for it to go away. Some people would call it wisdom. Vert, even though he was young, understood it for what it was. Pain.

He had healed through the wondrous methods of the old lady. He had long given up on himself. Telling himself that he was too weak. Physically, mentally, and spiritually. For the next few days, after he had been deemed ready to help with the caravan or leave, he had moped around. The rules of this caravan were simple. You pulled your weight or you left. People had been lenient with him because of his injuries. But even that measure of patience was running thin.

Unbeknown to Vert, the old woman was an air bender. Like himself, she had developed at a late stage in her life. Granted, it was now many many years ago, but she was like him in ways.

She met him in the fields one day while he was leaning on his staff. His head was down and he was in one of his moods where he just felt sorry for himself. The woman would have none of it. She snuck up behind him and kicked the staff out from under him. For an old woman, she was quiet and sneaky when she wanted to be.

Sure enough, young Vert found himself laying in a filed of grass wondering what had just happened. The old woman, in her old woman ways, eventually brought life back into the soul of the young air bender.

For the few years that Vert was part of the caravan, the old woman spent her time teaching him what she knew. Much in the same fashion that his old martial arts Master had taught him, she pushed him in ways he did not know he could be pushed.

There came a point where she told him he was better off training elsewhere. She could teach him nothing more than she already had. It was the same story as before. Only this time he wasn't fighting the old woman in some sort of glorified test. He took his leave that day and wandered to the four reaches of the earth in search of the air benders who could teach him more.

His travels took him far and wide. But when it was over, he had attained what he desired. He was considered one of the few Masters of his art. Air bending. The day he realized that he was a Master himself, he made a vow to stop unjustified violence no matter what it took. He would not let another boy die because of his weakness.

He took to hiding his name. Calling himself, instead, simply Sage. He traveled wherever his feet took him and did whatever he could to hold back the tyranny of what he considered evil. The eyes of the ever watchful "White Knight" were keen and sharp. Having no mercy for the wrong doers that made their lives on the helplessness of others.

The name, Sage, was rapidly spreading. Nothing was known of him. Fore when he was seen, he was clothed in a black robe from head to toe. The people knew that he could manipulate air in the ways of the airbending. But the more fanatical rumors claimed that the very wind paid homage to his skills.

They said that he moved so fast, so gracefully, that the wind gave to him it's service out of respect, fear, and jealousy. Wishing only that it, too, could move as he does.

He was young. Barely out of his teens, when he was beaten again. This time, not by an old man or a hardened soldier. This was no old woman. It was a man, like himself. Young, hardy, and full of life. His style of combat was ruthless. Nothing like Vert had ever seen.

Where Vert used his body in ways that could make a contortionist cringe, this man before him was all out brutal and efficient. There wasn't a strike that didn't ring true. He felt like he was being hit with cannonballs. His speed was nearly on par with Vert's own. As hard as he tried, he could not get the upper hand on his opponent.

Down and beaten, Vert was coming to terms with the finality of his life. He was scared of dying, but not afraid of death. Just as he was coping with the ultimate defeat, something happened. The man reached down and lifted Vert to his feet. He then spoke. And they would be words that Vert would never forget.

"Not bad, Kid."

The next five years were spent learning from this man. Everything he was willing to teach was absorbed. The style of Tame Za Kyokudo was everything he had predicted it to be. An extreme opposite of Pai Qua Quan. Deadly, ruthless, powerfully extreme. Ultimately amazing.
