I believe he means if one decides to SHOW off oneself, AKA dress a certain style, then that is haraam (forbidden). & that is something with which I can agree. Do not pride yourself in the way you dress, that is something we, as Muslims, strive to follow. Wealth will get you nowhere.

i mean its hard to explain in words, but if some one dresses differently then others you will stand out which some ppl would think its "showing off" but really you are just wear wat u usually wear.

I personally like lots of 'dark' bands (most of which have non-English songs), and I'm a Gothic Aristocrat/Lolita (which has NOTHING to do with looking 'sexy' and EVERYTHING to do with being modest).

I am proud to be who I am, even though I've had a hard time finding acceptance.

Maybe I'm just strange, but why is it that people are really concerned with being accepted by people when we should really be concerned with being accepted by Allah? That seems more important to me by a long shot. Right now I'm not being accepted by my father in a lot of ways. He threatened to kick me out the other day because he hates Islam for changing me. I think it's changed me into a better person, but he thinks I'm ruining my life. I'm just doing what I think is right, no matter what anyone thinks.

To randomly answer your question even though it's to Zaki, it doesn't matter what's within the culture if it is against Islam (specifically here wearing what will draw attention to one). Look at the American culture.......it's pretty self explanatory....

is there even an American culture? its has things from other culture mixed in. like Saint Patrick day (were they drink there heads off >.>) is celebrated bigger in the US then in the place it originally from.

American culture is basically, "Bring into the society whatever pleases you & we'll somehow integrate it in a way that we want. Anything goes." It's pretty chaotic. To call it freedom might try to justify it, but it just makes for allowance of inappropriate acts.

Sometimes I feel "dark", not evil. Like there was nothing I could do for this world. Like the world seems so . . . not real (dreams).

Goth and emo is different, with some similarity, you can't mix them up. The main thing is "dark", being "dark" or anything that dark including soy sauce (puns intended).

Most of the people who look like emo is posers, I don't know much of goth but they don't cut themselves. Real emo doesn't say they are emo

They just human, just like us, you can't force them to follow the rules, people will give them pressure so that is the reason they cut themselves. Just give them advice or counseling (and seriously, go meet a REAL counselor. You cannot trust the internet)
