Enu: Enu giggled happily as she poked her head out of her family's den. She loved free days! Mommy had finished teaching she and Baako for the day, which meant....PLAYTIME! Sweet, wonderful PLAYTIME! The black and gold splotchy cub's eyes were caught by a white butterfly flitting by and she grinned. Perfect! She was immediately all the way out of the den, bounding after the little insect, sometimes tumbling head over heels as she tripped over her own paws.
"Wait up, Miss Flutterby!" She tried jumping up when it fluttered up, and ended up landing on a rather dusty patch of ground, sneezing. "Oh..." And the butterfly landed on her nose, causing her to giggle again. "Aw....you're so nice, Miss Flutterby! And pretty too! Like Mommy and Grammy!"
Rushil: Rushil narrowed his eyes and took another slow step forward. His breaths were even and calculated, his steps light and smooth. Faiz would never have any of his offspring incapable in any way. He was determined to step away from the shadow his older siblings cast over him and gain his father's favor- if that was at all possible.
He crouched down lower to the ground, ears pinned back against his head as he rolled his shoulders. His prey of the day-
Well okay it was a stick. He knew it was a stick- but he could pretend it was the biggest, meanest, most angry antelope in the land!
Enu: Enu pouted as the butterfly fluttered off. That was no fun! "Wait up!" She got up and shook herself to dislodge some of the dust, then took off after the insect again. So...close...
And then her back paw caught on a rock and she went tumbling forward, right over some sticks and into the view of a boy. She didn't notice this for a moment as she tried to regain her footing. "Oh dear...Flutterby chasing has become dangerous..." She stood still a moment, blinking. And then noticed she wasn't alone. And that it was a boy older than her. She squeaked and her ears went back in embarrassment. "I'm sorry! I interrupted something, didn't I?" Oh no!
Rushil: Rushil nearly jumped out of his skin as his little game was suddenly shattered by a tumbling cub. He jerked his head upwards and laid his ears down against his skull. Blinking, he froze in place. As the female apologized he slowly forced himself to ease the tension from his shoulders. He wasn't afraid! Never. Not him.
Of course- the hackles down his back and the large tufft at the end of his tail frayed in every direction didn't count for anything.
"I...who are you?"
Enu: Ah! She seemed to not be in trouble! Oh good! She smiled brightly, perking up at the prospect of meeting someone new. Even if it was a boy, and she might one day not see him again.
"My name is Enu. I'm one of Dahabu-ausi's daughters." The younger of his daughters, to be specific...but she didn't think that important, at the moment. "It's very nice to meet you!" Mommy and Daddy had insisted she and her sister have good manners!
Rushil: Rushil threw his chest out and took a deep breath, composing himself further. He knew the first impression was the most important. Especially with the ladies. He might as well start off on the right paw.
"Rushil. It...it means charming. I'm the son of Faiz." He flicked his tail and slowly, caasually, reached back to pat the spiked fur from his back. It wouldn't do for her to think he'd been startled.
Enu: Enu looked a little embarrassed again. Her name didn't mean anything so nice...her mother had admitted a couple of times she'd not been too creative with names...just very, very tired.
"It's a very nice name." She smiled. "It fits you well, Pesar Rushil!" Oh she hoped she got that right! Faiz...Faiz was one of the Sultan's advisors, wasn't he? A Vizier? Ooooooh~!
Rushil: Pesar Rushil... it sounded so nice. He'd only ever heard the title on the lips of his brother's Banu's and from his mother. The male flicked his tail and pushed his chest out a little further.
"Well thank you!" He slowly pushed himself up to his paws, completely forgetting that he hhad neglected to smooth out the tip of his tail.
"What were you doing? Are you okay? You fell over pretty hard."
Enu: Enu giggled nervously. "I...I was chasing a flutterby." She sighed. "I'm not graceful, like Mommy yet, so I tripped and rolled." Oh to be graceful like her Mommy and Grammy...Even Auntie Uggi was more graceful than her, and she wasn't much older than Enu! "I'm okay though! It didn't hurt too much. Just...kinda made me a little woozy."
Rushil: "Oh...well..." He tipped his head to one side and brought a paw up to tap his chin thoughtfully. Flutterbys....he'd seen them before. Maybe they could still catch one! It'd certainly be more challanging than hunting sticks.
"Flutters like to live by the flowers. So that's where we should start. Come on, I bet if you walk a bit, the woozy will go away too." He flicked his tail then glanced over his shoulder. Freezing, the cub reached back and pulled his tail over for a few short licks. How embarassing...
Enu: Enu perked up. He was willing to help her find another one?! Oooooooh! He was the best boy EVER, after her Daddy and whoever her future Pad would be! She moved over by him, ready to follow.
"Thank you! You're very smart, Pesar Rushil!" Of course butterflies liked flowers! After all...they liked perching on them more than lions, and they looked a little like flowers...yes! It made perfect sense. She tilted her head. "Was there something on your tail?"
Rushil: "You can just call me Rushil right now. We're hunting, right? That means we can drop the ...uh...", Formalities wasn't a word he was familar with. He'd heard his parents say it here and there, but it lingered in the front of his mind, refusing to make the journey out his mouth. "...we can use our names."
He froze again and released his tail, now groomed back into place. "Yup! It was... just some dirt. I don't like dirt. It's....itchy." Not completely true- he didn't mind getting his paws muddy here and there. Sure it made him messy, but it meant his mother would pay attention to him for an hour or so.
Enu: : Enu nodded. "Okay, Rushil!" He really did have a nice name. It rolled out of her mouth so nicely, and was almost like a piece of song. She crouched down, ready to find herself a butterfly with the pesar!
"Ooooh~ Dirt is especially itchy when it gets into scratches." She made a face. "Kinda hurts too. But Mommy or Daddy cleans me before it can hurt too much if that happens." Dirt...such a two sided thing. On one paw, mud was wonderful for cooling off or making things with. On the other paw...dirt was horrible when it got into scratches or your eyes!
