I knew they were going to say Smurfed in that trailer.
FUN FACT: the person who voiced Smurfette in the Smurfs voiced Ms. Bitters in Invader Zim as well

First of all, I just have to say, I would have never made the connection between Smurfette and Ms. Bitters. Thanks, terriergirl, for that piece of information. Haha.
Secondly, please tell me I'm not the only one annoyed by the idea of a Smurf movie. It's just, they'll take anything from the past and put it on the big screen, won't they? They just can't leave it alone. But I guess, I like the idea in the sense that it will get younger generations into the classic cartoons and stuff like that. I don't really know what I think. I guess I have mixed feelings about the movie.

@Rei: I totally feel that way too. Are they so out of ideas that any old tv show is fair game?

It certainly seems to be the trend to make movies out of older television shows. The problem is that they are rarely any good, in my opinion. I just can't see an hour and a half or more of Smurfs...

From the trailer, the Smurfs look more like realistic cgi with real life background and actors, so that put them on around the level of Garfield and the Chipmunks, right? sweatdrop I really hope not.
I don't understand why they have to put the Smurfs in modern day Manhattan. The Smurfs belong to the middle ages woods, not in a city. The change is entirely unnecessary. Looks like Hollywood is out to destroy more people's childhood memories.
