Koko was bored. Her brothers and sister were off doing whatever they liked, leaving Koko to her own devices. Sometimes she really didn't like her siblings. Chacha was always mean to Ricweard, and Egemon was just plain strange. Actually, Chacha was usually mean to everyone except momma and Papa Kwea. Without straying too far, Koko rose to her feet. It was a nice day out, not too warm, and she could use a good stretch. With clumsy paws she wound her way around the den areas, eyes open and eager for a new friend.

It was an odd day when when Haytham moved away from his family to go explore. He knew he would face the ridicule of some of the other males for not being able to produce cubs, and there was a fear in his belly that one day, something bad would happen because of his infertility.
It was best to assume until it happened, right?
The male slipped through the shadows - he was hard to notice really, but he was bored. His siblings - Mama Tsu's children - were almost grown. his brothers were on their quest to become men, and his sisters were looking for, or had, their pads.
And truthfully, he needed a friend.
Despite, the cub sat against a tree watching the world move by around him, wondering if someone would come to him or if he should be more outgoing. He decided against it, groaning softly. He just didn't know what to do.

Koko had yet to meet anyone from her pride; really, the only lions she knew were all in her family, aside from Kifa. Kifa wasn't that nice, though, so Koko tended to stay away from her. She was Kwea's banu, and mama and Kifa didn't seem to get along. Mama usually got along with everyone, most of the time. It was so strange. Koko didn't understand what was going on.
With a huff, she moved toward one of the lone trees that reached up towards the pretty blue sky. It was a bit warmer than normal today, so shade sounded good.
Bored, lonely, and troubled by the tension between the lionesses back at home, Koko's eyes lit up when she spotted the pretty green youngster seated beneath the tree she'd been headed for. As she drew closer, she noticed his eyes and was instantly drawn to the nice pink color. She loved it.
"Hello~" she trilled, edging up to him. "I'm Koko, and YOU have pretty eyes!"

The shy leopon blink once, twice, thrice, quite rapidly. He hadn't expected someone to just trot up to him, though he had been hoping for it dearly. He certainly didn't expect them to proclaim that he had pretty eyes.
He did have his mother's eyes.
"Ah, thanks," he gave her a warm smile. "I'm Haytham," he informed her. She seemed nice - maybe they could be friends!

Koko flopped down before him, tail flicking up a bit of dust as she seated herself. "Nice to meet'cha," she proclaimed, beaming at him. "You live here? I do. My Papa Kwea isn't my real Papa, but my mama's name is Amara and she's my real mama!"
Yes, she was odd, but she was sweet. Talkative, outgoing, friendly... but strange. That was Kokojicho, her mother's daughter to be sure. She looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to answer her question.

"Nice to meet you, too," he told her return. He listened to the information she offered about her family.
"Oh, yes, I live here with Daddy and Mama and Mama Tsu and Mama Ban'ma," he offered with a smile. "My Mama's name is Maua." Haytham gave a grin.
Well, he knew a bit abut her already, and he was happy! She was nice, and he didn't feel shy around her at all - like he should hide his face and not look directly at her. "We're friends now, right?" He asked a bit naively.
He hoped they were.

Koko looked at him somewhat cross-eyed. Of course they were friends! He was nice, and she was usually nice, there was no reason they shouldn't be friends!
"Of course we're friends, Haytham!" She said it as if she were insulted that he would suggest otherwise. "You're the only friend I have!" It was true, too. Koko found it kind of hard to make friends. Everyone always seemed so busy!

Haytham brightened and gave a wide grin. "Good! You're my only friend too, ya know?" He was happy - he made at least one friend in this place. He wanted more, but she would be special, being his first friend.
He wished everyone was like her - she was plenty nice and didn't tease him for possibly not being able to bear children. It was great!
"Do you want to play a game then?" he asked, almost excitedly. Games were fun, and he hadn't played any games in a while. Between the two of them, they could probably think of something totally exciting!

Koko's eyes widened. A game? That could be fun. She nodded eagerly, a huge smile overtaking her features. A game without siblings would be even more fun, even!
"I do want to play a game! I do, I do! What game, Haytham? Is it a fun game? Sometimes we play games at home, what games do you know?"
Oh, today might be the best day of her young life. A new friend, and one that liked playing games! What more could a young cub ask for?!

Haytham thought for a moment, and tilted his head. There were a few games they played at home. "Well, we play tag sometimes, and hide-n-seek," he said thoughtfully. He wondered if she knew any of those games. He didn't know many. "What games do you know?" He asked eagerly. Maybe she knew a game he didn't.
That would be sooo fun!
