A sigh escaped the lion's maw, the wind of his breath pushing over a few blades of grass. His two-toned eyes closed softly as he breather deeply, the grass bending towards his lips now.

What a boring day.

Kazi hadn't done anything at all that day. Nada. Zip. Zero. Zilch. He felt like such a lazy butt. He had barely even spoken to any rocks. He had a line of them on his neck, tied to a string in a necklace. Each of them were his friends; they each had a name, a past and a personality. In his adult age, he learned how to block out the rocks voices when he didn't feel like speaking with them.

But Kazi had been getting lonely lately, a feeling he was not at all familiar with. All his life he had been glad to pretty much not talk with lions, aside from his family, whom he was fairly close to. He had barely met any other pride members, but he had been content with his stone buddies. Not anymore. Kazi longed for someone to talk with, someone who wouldn't judge him for his differences (or the company he kept). Just a friend.

Another sigh escaped the lonely lion's mouth.

Ari remembered being younger. Her parents taking her around, teaching her about the pride, the customs, introducing her to all the important people, and some unimportant people, who she would some day rule over.

She much preferred actually ruling than learning about it.

Still, the teaching part came in handy now. If it hadn't been for all this training and introducing, Ari might be very mean to the dusty brown male lying on the floor. Fortunately for him, she had to keep a good imagine, and she recognized him.

"Khan Su, " She greeted. Because a duke qualified as an important person.

Kazi opened one eye to the unfamiliar voice that had reached his ears. His blue eye widened and his green one matched it soon after, when he realized who was speaking to him. He pushed himself up to a standing position, then bowed his head low to her.

"Ting Lan!" He stammered, glancing up at her. He really had no idea how to act around lions that were higher up than him. He tended to treat everyone the same, in the few creatures he spoke with. He wasn't much of a duke, he left all of the politics up to his parents and other siblings that were interested in that kind of thing.

"How... how are you today?" He muttered, his eyes darting from her and to the ground. He was never usually this nervous.

Yep, this guy was a weird one.

Ari almost paused and stared at him awkwardly. She wasn't used to dealing with such a peculiar noble. She immediately decided she would probably prefer dealing with his parents. Nonetheless, she managed to still seem her usual royal, cool self. Being a little odd had never been a crime. His reaction to her arrival was unnecessary, the bowing down and the like, but Ari was so used to it she wouldn't even bother telling him that. If people wanted to show her exaggerated respect, that was fine.

"I'm fine, thank you. " She sat down, tail curling around her paws. "How about you? " It seemed an odd, casual question to her, but for some reason, being too formal and business-like with this male didn't seem like it would really work.

Kazi looked up at her, his eyes full of aprehension. She was so... informal. He didn't expect that out of her at all, and he sat down, copying her stance, though his tail twitched nervously.

"I'm fine.. I mean, I'm good... I mean..." He stammered, shaking his head a little. "It's a nice day." He observed, giving her a bit of a smile. He really had no idea what to do around royalty, especially girls. He wasn't all that great with talking to regular girls, nevermind the ruler of their lands.

When Kazi was nervous, his talent of blocking out the rocks ceased to be. His mind was bombarded with the voices of his friends around his neck. He tried very hard to ignore them, but all he could hear were questions and suggestions about what to do. He closed his eyes tight and told them all to shut up in his mind, which worked to a degree, they silenced themselves enough that he could once again here himself think, and he opened his eyes again to look at his companion.

She blinked at the mimicry, but didn't comment. Because she was pretty sure he'd just say something confusing. If she wasn't intent on treating him like she'd more or less treat any other noble, she might talk to him veeery slowly.

"Yes, it is. " She agreed, and immediately felt like the awkwardness of this meeting was growing. Ari hated awkwardness. But she best deal with it, after all, she was more or less empress now. "The house seems to be doing well, have you had any new members recently? " It was like a very bad version of political small talk. But what else was she supposed to do?
