Xavier was practicing his hunting skills. Not that he really needed to, since the females of a Pad's harem were supposed to go hunting. But since he didn't have a harem yet, because he wasn't old enough to have one, he thought it might be good to practice something.
Sure, his mom and the other Banus of his father's did the hunting work. But...
Xavier hid between two tall bushels of grass as he eyed his prey: a small bird, preoccupied with pecking at the ground in search of worms.
It wasn't that Xavier felt bad for the females doing all the work--that was their job, after all. The males protected the females and gave them a home. In return, the females hunted and gave the males cubs to continue the line. That was easy to know, easy to understand.
The bird continued its little dance, now and then peeking up at the sky and at his surroundings for danger. Xavier was too low to the ground to be seen. Yet.
He wasn't sure how he felt about girls yet. He had a little bit of time left before he had to leave the pride and find a female to start his harem back home. And he figured that was a good enough amount of time.
The juvenile crouched down lower to the ground and lined up his pounce. The bird wouldn't know what hit him.

(( Sorry about the delay. x3 This somehow slipped off my rp list. D8 ))
Walking slowly, Jinan felt a certain emptiness today. She had left Mina in a tree, wanting some time to just think by herself. She had been feeling rather down lately, being her age without a Pad of her own. Was there something wrong with her? Did no one find her attractive at all? Or was it the fact that she was a half-breed? Part of her knew that it was because she was what she was, and Pads didn't really look for a Banu that couldn't provide him with offspring. But they didn't know about her kind friend that would help her- they didn't seem to care.
She had always known that it would be hard. And with her hesitance around males, she had only made things harder for herself. But she just wanted someone who would really care for her; she wanted a Prince Charming of sorts. All she really wanted was to make her father proud, but it just didn't seem possible anymore.
Sighing, she flicked her ears up as she heard a small chirping sound nearby. It lasted only for a moment, but she still wanted to go see what it was. Jinan had always loved birds, just because they looked so free in the sky, going wherever they wanted whenever they wanted. Not that she wanted to leave- Jinan loved her pride dearly- she just wanted to be able to be herself all the time.
Padding over towards it, she caught sight of the little thing, and it made her smile. She tried to be extra quiet, so she wouldn't scare it away.

Xavier didn't see the half-breed until it was too late; he had pounced and caught the bird between his two front paws. At first he gazed down at his paws, covering his victim, with triumph in his mind. He had even let out a cry of delight when he realized that he had caught the bird!
But then he looked up and to the left, and that was when he saw the face of the female before him. She had been watching the bird with a happy smile on her face, and he had just...nearly killed it with his weight. Unconsciously, he eased up most of his body mass onto his hind legs, so his paws were just a simple cage around the bird.
"Um...hi?"
Xavier hoped that this particular bird wasn't a friend of the female's or anything...that would certainly put a good-sized downer on their first meeting.

Keeping her eyes on the small fluffy creature, Jinan was lost for a moment in its feathers. That is, until a streak of blue covered her vision. Tilting her head to the side for a moment as she processed what had just happened, Jinan quickly felt a rush of blood to her face as she saw that the blue streak was a boy.
A boy. She hadn't actually....had contact with one before. At least, not one that wasn't her sibling. Stay calm, stay calm. She was almost an adult now, so she shouldn't be so nervous. But still...
"H-hi..." Smiling sheepishly, she had almost forgotten about the little bird. Eying his paws, she was relieved to see the small thing still alive, but she was having a hard time staying focused on it.
