She was skipping down to quench her first down by the river, seemingly content for the moment to wile the days away with nothing but a bit of walking, perhaps the odd hunt here and there, and then busying herself with cheering up the fellow Aka'mleli lions.

And boy was there a lot of cheering to do!

Jahina always wore a smile, much like her avian counterpart, and she couldn't seem to understand that sometimes other people just didn't want to smile. She wouldn't listen to such things. As far as she was concerned, even the smallest smile had strong healing properties and, to look each day with hope rather than despair did wonders for the soul!

She worried desperately for her dear friend, Yamini, the most. For the female had never ever been the same since losing her bonded in the quake. Try as she might, nothign she could say or do seemed to cheer the female up. Even still, it didn't mean she would give up. No way! She was determined to see that true, genuine smile on the female's face again someday. And if anyone could do it, she was sure she could!

"What can you see up there, Ngeu?!" She called out to the vulture swooping above her head, way up high.

"Water!" Ngeu replied, rather unhelpfully. "And others, too!" She lowered, moving surprisingly well in the air for such a bulky bird.

"Jah-Jah, are we off to see old grump-face Chewy today?"

At the lioness' shake of her head, the vulture gave a loud squawk of aknowledgement and continued. "I think he deserves a break from us, in any case."

There was another lion coming down to the water just now - a rather large male with a grumpy sort of look on his face. Of course, he always had that sort of look, since he tended to be rather ... well. Grumpy. In fact, his own bird companion had gotten fed up with him recently ... and so had flown off to find himself some dinner.

Kibela was glad of that, since it gave him a chance to be free from the chattering little pest for a while. It wasn't that he didn't care about Raviv, but he liked quiet every now and then.

So he sighed softly upon seeing others by the river, and turned his paws upstream to seek somewhere ... lonelier.

"I say we quicken our pace and get down there before the other lions decide to move on." Jahina replied a moment later, breaking into a run. She always seemed to have plenty of energy, able to dart here and there, her dancing paws always on the move. Energetic and cheerful, her jester-like qualities seemed to bring either joy or despair to the lions around her.

But whatever their reaction to her characteristics, she did not seem to care nor tame the spirit inside her.

"Oh, look, there's someone now!" She had spotted Kibela moving upstream and averted her path to follow after him, slowing her pace now so that she wouldn't arrive completely out of breath.

"Quick, Ngeu, fly ahead and stop him!"

"Yes, ma'am!" The vulture replied and, after doing a small circle above Jahina's position, she spread her vast wings and swept down after the male lion, giving her harsh, throaty caw as she passed over his head and turned a lazy arc in order to land in front of him.

"Coming in to land!" She warned, and, with a lot of flapping, she landed heavily, folding her blue wings tight to her sides and cocking her head to peer up at him with one eye.

"Hello!"

And that was all she said.

Kibela blinked at the bird, frowning slightly. He had heard a bit of the conversation behind him - and knew that this one's partner was probably tailing him now. Greeeat. Just when he didn't want company, some cheerful, bright, sunny types would find him.

Still, he couldn't bring himself to be completely rude. So he just stopped and stared down at the vulture for a moment or two before finally replying, "Hello." And that was all he said as well.
