Rp between Kairi and myself.

(Kairi) It was a hot, hot summer's day - most lions had retired to the cool shade of their dens, or were down at the watering hole, wallowing in the crystalline water like hippos. Jvalana was feeling the heat more than most - the dark black fur covering the length of her back absorbed the sunlight more than the brighter pelts, increasing the heat she was feeling tenfold. As such, she'd been in the shade most of the morning - to the side of a large rock, trying to sleep through the day. Unfortunately the heat was making sleep hard to achieve.

As midday drew nearer, the amount of shade diminished to the point where it was pointless trying to hide. Either she could retire to her den, or try her hand in the watering hole. Making her decision swiftly, Lana headed for the hopefully cool waters. As she neared, the sight was enough to make her nose wrinkle in disgust. Numerous huria cubs were laughing and playing, splashing water everywhere. It was a horrible sight - one that didn't belong in such noble lands as the Firekin. Skulking around the edges of the lake instead of entering the water, Lana's eyes were narrowed and full of fire as she almost stalked the cubs. It wouldn't take much...but she knew the consequences would be great. She was an adult now (well, almost), responsible for her own actions. She'd likely be thrown out of the pride, and she certainly didn't want that!

Settling down on the furthest edge, she waded into the shallow waters, laying herself there. The water was lovely and cool, and the lioness let out a small purr of content. She was still watching the huria, however, studying their movements. Perhaps in the future, they'd be banished at birth. If only.

(Kir) If there was ever a time where Canicus was not annoyed, then that'd be the end of the world. Alas, he was not in a pleasant mood as he had gotten into a fight with a sister and was off sulking and seething in the desert.

The sun beat down on his dark coat as he spotted a small rodent. Perhaps this would be good to take his anger out on, he mused devilishly. He stalked the rodent silently before launching to pounce on it. With a quick, violent swipe of his paw he watched with pleasure as the lights of life faded away.

(Kairi) Lana rolled over in the water - oh, this was heavenly! The lovely, crystalline, cooling water splashed over her fur, soaking through to her skin and evaporating away some of the latent heat that was radiating off of her dark coat. Her purrs became a little louder, vibrating in her throat. She'd definitely have to do this more often. But not too often - Lana didn't want to appear vulnerable.

Rolling back onto her front, her fiery eyes scanned the scene before her quickly, to spot it anything had changed. And she was delighted to find that it had - a rather familiar-looking, striped male was stalking a rodent nearby. It didn't look like he'd spotted her. Although, much to Lana's dismay, he seemed to be far bigger than she was. Still, didn't mean she couldn't beat him in a fight! Prancing to her feet, suddenly seeming as playful as a cub, the fiery-coloured lioness slowly stalked her way over towards Canicus.

"Can caaaaan~" she called teasingly, smirking, "Guess who!"

(Kir) As he watched the rodent bleed, Canicus's face was about to turn into a sadistic smile before he heard the voice of someone he did NOT want to see. Why did she ALWAYS appear when he was in a bad mood and wanted NO company? His eyes glanced at her quickly before turning to the kill in his paws.

With a pleasant thought in mind, he took a claw and ripped the rodent open more. And then, in a heart beat he flung the rodent at Lana hoping that it'd hit her. "Don't call me that, Huria!"

(Kairi) Lana, predictably, shrieked when the bloody rodent came flying towards her, hopping backwards and up onto her two back legs for a moment, using her two front paws to bat the rodent to one side, so it didn't hit her. It looked like some bizarre circus act. Luckily she managed to whack it away, landing heavily back onto all fours with a somewhat fierce growl for Canicus. That wasn't very nice.

"How many times!?" she suddenly snarled, maw curled up to show her teeth, "I'm NOT a Huria!" It may well just be a stupid nickname, but it was one she didn't at all appreciate. Her coat was beautiful, her blood was pure - she certainly wasn't some filthy huria scum! "You're just jealous."

(Kir) Her snarl was matched by his own as his lips curled upward to show his pearly whites. "I guess I should say the same to you!" Just as he had a name for her that she didn't like, so did she. And he hated it just as much as she did!

He turned to look at her and then smirked. Was he, getting bigger than her? He raised his head proudly as his eyes narrowed, "You wish I was. Looks are not everything, Lana." He hissed out her name through clenched teeth.

(Kairi) "Can-can's just a nickname, moron," she snapped a little rudely, glaring at him, "It doesn't mean anything!" Can-can was a pet name of sorts, something she used to tease him. It didn't mean anything other than his name, whereas calling her a huria made her sound like some filthy piece of sand, worthless to anyone. And she wasn't! Her father had made sure she knew how pure and worthy her blood was.

Looks weren't everything? She snorted, "You forget that were your pelt not red, you'd be a pathetic huria. You're lucky." She sneered the last word, almost as if testing him. She could so take him in a fight. He was bigger, but she was more lithe, more agile. Strength wasn't everything.

(Kir) If looks could kill, Canicus' glare would have killed her twice over. Why did she always know what buttons to push to top him over the edge? He spat at her, "Lucky? So you speak of Hurias as not having red on them? So my sister is a Huria to you because she had no red, but white and black?"

He lowered his head a bit and snarled, "Your world is disillusioned then, Lana and I pity you for that."

To make such a claim was making his blood boil and that always lead to bad consequences. But he was too hardheaded to do anything different.

(Kairi) Argh, he'd misread what she'd said! She'd been referring to black and white too, even if not explicitly. "Well, no," she reluctantly admitted, though her upper lip soon curled back in another sneer, "Though true Firekin, of pure blood, have the colour of flames on their pelt."

She looked him up and down, adding with a little venom, "You're just lucky, I guess." She knew that would make him mad - she wasn't really sure why she'd said it. She didn't want to make him mad. She just wanted him to stop teasing her, and...and like her. Why did he hate her so much?

(Kir) Ears pinned against his head as he replied angrily, "You only say the colors of flame because of your markings. The founders of our pride were solid red. And you'd know this if you listened to older members of the pride." She was just too damn vain about her markings, thinking she's better than everyone else and that pissed him off.

"Lucky? So you think you're more 'pure-blooded' than me because of your so-called markings? You're just vain and insecure! Some Firekin you really are!" He spat at her angrily. Lucky? What was that? He wasn't lucky, he was Firekin and that was it!

His claws dug into the sands slightly, he couldn't hold back much longer. Why did she have to come and bug him now.

(Kairi) Jvalana was getting more and more angry, and more and more riled up. Why could Canicus just be...be like Heti! Listen to what she said and agree or follow her commands without question! ...Although, a little bit of her had to admit that that wouldn't make it nearly as fun.

"You're just jealous! You've always been jealous!" she snapped, claws digging into the sand lightly as she yelled at the striped lion, "I do listen, I listen to my father, and he's told me everything I need to know!" She was getting angrier and angrier, and less in control of what she was saying. It was all boiling up inside of her, and she couldn't help it. "At least I have a mother and a father, and not two mothers! I bet the founders would be turning in their graves!"

It was a blow below the belt, and she knew it. She gasped lightly as soon as she'd said it, but the damage was done. She wasn't about to apologise - she was too prideful - but the adolescent knew she shouldn't have said it.

(Kir) It was as if a paw had slapped him in the face. He eyes widen in shock as he was froze. She dare talk poorly about his mothers?! He did not choose his parents and their preferences, he accepted them because they were his parents!

His blood was seething as his vision turned red, Lana crossed the line against his family and he wouldn't let her do that again. She was going to pay for such words. He didn't hold himself back as he snarled and lashed out at her. There were no words to be spoken as he let the fire in his bloods take over, wanting to see Lana wither in pain from her remark.

(Kairi) She saw it coming - she didn't expect to get away with such words. The fact that she was too prideful to apologise only made things worse, but at least the lioness was prepared when the larger lion leapt for her.

She rolled backwards with a snarl, back legs kicking at his stomach to try and kick him off of her. He was heavy! "Get...OFF!" she snarled, the thought of apologising flickering through her mind for a moment before she pushed it to one side, her own fire taking over. You could practically see it burning in her eyes, feel it burning through her skin as she lashed at his face, snarling loudly.

(Kir) As he landed on her, he could feel her claws go into his stomach. He wanted to wince, but he wouldn't give her the satisfaction of knowing that she had hurt him.

As she snarled at him to get off, he looked down at her with his teeth bared, "I wonder how your face would look with a scar across it!" As the thought flitted through his mind with his front paw near her face. He'd do it, he was furiously seething. Perhaps that'll take her vanity down a notch or two.

(Kairi) Her back claws sank into his stomach, and she felt bad. But only for a moment as his teeth came to rest right in front of her face, his words sending panic through her chest. "No, don't!" It wasn't as much the scar that she didn't want - although y'know, she didn't want her pretty face scarred - but the pain. As thrilling as fights were, the pain you had to deal with afterwards was horrible. And she'd seen lions with face wounds. They were horrible, looked horrible. So much blood... Partially because of fear, Lana suddenly felt a new fire, a new strength in her veins, her back legs giving one almightly thrust to try and throw the lion off of her.

Those claws weren't going anywhere near her face if she had anything to say about it.

(Kir) Before he could get his claw to her face, she had found some strength and pushed him off. As he skidded a bit backwards, he was going to use this for all he got. If she didn't want a scar on her face, he'd damn well make sure he put one there! Stupid Huria insulting his family! That'd be the perfect payback.

He didn't waste any time as he launched himself at her again. Determined to cause as much damage to her as he could.

(Kairi) ...She'd really made him angry. But he wasn't going to listen to any apology she gave now, any reasoning she tried would be fruitless. He was too angry, too furious, and she couldn't really blame him. Unable to do anything but fight back, Lana snarled as she lifted herself up onto her back legs again as he drew nearer, trying to make herself bigger and more intimidating. And more important, it kept her face out of reach of his horrible claws.

Canicus struck her stomach, and Lana wasted no time in sinking her claws into his back, and her teeth into the back of his neck. She needed to get him on his back, get him into some sort of position where she was in control, and he couldn't move. He was heavier, he had more weight to throw around - if he got on top of her again, it was all over.

(Kir) The impact against her was hard, but not as painful as the claws on his back and her teeth digging into his neck. His face scrunched up before he dug his teeth into her stomach, as that was the closest thing he could reach with his mouth.

The pain from her was starting to become excruciating, especially on his neck as there were a ton more nerves there than on his back. But he couldn't stop, nor would he allow himself too. He tried pushing his weight forward to hopefully throw her off balance.

(Kairi) OW! Lana had forgotten than in protecting her face, she'd be sacrificing other parts of her body. His teeth sinking into her stomach was a surprise, and as such she couldn't contain a roar that burst out of the throat, sending her into a rage as she raked her claws across his back fiercely, trying to cause him pain in return. Her teeth began to sink deeper into his neck, though she held back once she'd reached a certain point - she didn't want to kill him. Just get the message through his thick skull that she was as good, if not better, than he was!

The male pushing his weight forwards threw her off balance, and she couldn't stop herself as she fell backwards, landing on the ground, on her back, hard. But she couldn't stop to contemplate the jolting pain in her back, having to scrabble up and to her feet so he couldn't move on top of her. She tried to roll the pair over, so he was underneath and she was on top. Perhaps then she could pin him down.

(Kir) She dug deeper into his neck and he felt his eyesight blur a tad. That was beginning to hurt....A LOT. And that just motivated him to go forward. He was lost in the rage that consumed him, that only this female was able to produce. Why was that? Why did she affect him so damn much?!

When she fell back, he tried to act quick enough to pin her down. It was no surprise that he weighed more than her with his slightly larger build and he'd definitely want to use that to his advantage. Though, before he could try and pin her down, the sudden movement of his neck caused his vision to black out for a brief moment and thus, losing his chance. The pain was starting to swell heavily as sand got into the cuts. Damn this stupid Huria. He snarled and clawed at her wherever he could.

(Kairi) His claws caught her tail, and Lana roared again. She'd avoided a scar on her face, but she was sure she'd come away with a few elsewhere. He'd gashed her deeply in numerous places, and her tired muscles were beginning to feel the strain. But she persevered, using his slower movements to her advantage, rolling on top of him in a sudden movement to try and stun him. Her paws flailed, gashing at his stomach before moving to try and pin his own paws to the ground, where they could to no more damage. She sat with the majority of her weight on her hind, so his hind legs were pinned also.

"Cani, STOP!" she roared, body tired and very, very sore. She couldn't really do this much longer - but she had the feeling she was winning. She was elated, she'd never won against Canicus before, although the elation was dulled by the fact that he was still incredibly angry at her, "I'm...I'M SORRY, 'KAY!?"

(Kir) There'd be scars all over him, the gashes in some of the places were deep and he could feel the sticky blood on his fur. As she rolled him over, the sand got into his neck as he yowled in pain. That caused his vision to blur slightly as Lana had him pinned.

Her apology went on deaf ears as he was too angry to even take it to heart. "Sorry?!" He spat it back at her, "Sorry won't fix any of this!!" He seethed at her with his brow furrowed in a scowl, trying to hide his wince in pain.

(Kairi) Either he was very tired, or in a lot of pain. Or both. Jvalana was almost certain she wouldn't have been able to pin him down otherwise, since he was so much bigger than her. In a position where she could rest for a few moments, she glared at him as her chest rose and fell with heavy breaths, the lioness catching her breath again.

"Just...just STOP!" she yelled, claws digging into his limbs a little to get a better grip, so he couldn't struggle too well. "I've said sorry, what else can I do!? I don't WANT to fight!"

(Kir) Her claws dug into his legs a bit as his eyes narrowed further at her. "You shouldn't say such things if you can't take the consequences!" He was so angry, and being pinned by her just fueled that anger. Perhaps it was just being a male and having a female on top of him and in control was bruising his ego. All his life, he'd be surrounded by females and taught that they're superior. Was it wrong that he wanted to considered good to?!

He hissed out, "Get. Off." He wouldnt' admit it to her, but the sand was stinging his neck badly and if he moved his neck too much that made his vision slightly blurred or fade out.

(Kairi) "I didn't mean to!" she hissed, quite aware all of a sudden that they were in a rather public area, and they were being somewhat loud. Others were looking, and whispering things to each other. Lana snarled, baring her teeth at Canicus. This was all his fault! "You made me angry! Its your fault!" She knew she was being unfair, irrational, but her pride was high, even higher now she was the one pinning him down. "You just can't handle that I'm beating you! I have beaten you!"

She didn't have much strength left, and she didn't think he did either. She was the winner, she'd come out on top. It was a glorious feeling, and one she wanted to bask in. Baring her teeth, right in front of his face, Lana quite plainly stated. "No. Not until you take it all back."

(Kir) Her words pierced his ego and pride as he sucked in some air. If he wasn't hurt, he'd bite her face right off. He was so mad. He didn't care what anyone else saw or said, they were meaningless to him.

As she bared her teeth right in his face, he reached out to snap back ta her, hoping to catch her nose and face in the process. That'd teeth her to gloat. "You want me to take back my words when you started all of this by insulting my family?!," He spat at her angrily as he moved slightly to use his back legs to push her off, claws unsheathed of course.

(Kairi) She saw the snap coming and darted her face back, sneering to mock his failed attempt. The sneer soon vanished, though, replaced by a snarl of pain as his back legs kicking into her stomach, claws tearing skin. There was blood all over her, her beautiful coat stained red. The pain was making her head spin, but she stood fast, trying to make herself as heavy as possible so he couldn't push her off. "JUST STOP!" she roared, head dizzy and light due to the blood loss as she sank her claws into his front paws.

"I DIDN'T MEAN TO!" Lana was half coming up with excuses, half trying to explain herself, and half trying to stop him from kicking. It HURT, dammit! "I just...Its just..." She couldn't stop herself. A mixture of light-headedness, anger and emotion just burst out, her lips forming the words before she realized it.

"I LOVE YOU, OKAY!?"

SHe snapped her maw shut as soon as it happened, eyes widening. She was like a deer caught in headlights - she hadn't meant to say it! It had just burst out, he'd made her so mad and so angry and...ohgoshohgoshohgosh. She'd never told anyone before - she'd teased Canicus himself about fancying and liking, but never love. Love wasn't something the lioness too lightly, either. Deathly afraid of the consequences, Lana snarled as she moved her front paws, shoving Canicus further into the ground with a hard push, claws breaking the skin on his chest a little. It was an attempt to stun him, so he wouldn't move, wouldn't follow her.

Lana was gone faster than you could say 'I love you'. She was never, ever going to live this down.

(Kir) He could feel the relief of her weight off of him as he could breath easily. He was thoroughly beaten and his ego was bruised.

Her words shocked him to the core. She loved him?! What joke was this?! He snarled at the pain to his chest as she ran off. Seriously?! Was this how she treated someone she "loved"?! He'd rather be hated, if this was the treatment he got from her. He paused at his thoughts, what the hell was he thinking?! He could feel the tears well slightly in his eyes as the pain in his neck was terrible. He could only walk so far away from the area before he collasped on the ground. The pain was clouding his thoughts, he was just so angry he couldn't think straight at all.
