Dysi's heart broke at the sight of the beautiful boy - so similar to Dysi and yet so much like his mother - as he began to cry. He had always hated crying as a cub, even if his mother had always shrugged it off as if it didn't matter. He tried to remember what his mother had done to make him feel better. He hoped it worked on boys. Well, obviously it did, it had worked on Dysi but on actual boys.
Dysi hesitated and moved closer to the boy, as Hikari tried to slink backwards. He wrapped a paw around the boy and pulled him closer. "It's okay, Hikari," he whispered. "It's okay." He didn't know if the boy would react well to his comforting, but he was going to at least try. Girly behaviour or not, he hated trying to discourage tears. Everyone needed a good cry every once in a while.

Hikari squeaked as he was scooped closer, shrinking down slightly before he was cuddled against soft white fur. Dysi sounded like he wasn't mad or disgusted or...anything bad like that. Sniffling pathetically, and feeling dumb in spite of the comforting, the hybrid burrowed into the leopard's flank. At least Dysi wasn't trying to get rid of him right now.
Maybe it wasn't so bad. But he couldn't help wanting to know. It was like bugs crawling under his fur, under his skin. The not knowing. It hurt, or it was going to drive him mad. He had to know. He didn't know how to explain. He knew it sounded silly, he knew it seemed dumb. Mama and now Dysi, they said he didn't need a father.
