Old and long since dead and moot debate.

Furry has become a generic umbrella term to label members of a specific fandom and their characters, whether or not they actually have fur. Just think of furry as another way of saying anthro.

Scalie is an accept sub-category within furry to describe those with characters that have scales. Originally this was intended to be just reptiles, lizards, amphibians and dragons, but over time has included fish and in some instances avians have been known to describe themselves as scalies.

The reason no one really bothers with the whole scalie vs furry debate is that it was realized that not all non-mammals have fur and that some reptilian-like creatures are indeed depicted as having fur, hair and/or feathers.

i think it has to do with my experience on second life... dragons are laggy huge and always squashing me...
