First off, it's genres are Drama, Historical, Romance, Seinen, and Slice of Life.

In Victorian-era England, a young girl is rescued from a life of destitution and raised to become a proper British maid. Emma meets William, the eldest son of a wealthy family, and immediately falls in love with him. William shares her feelings, but the strict rules of their society prevent their relationship from ever coming out in the open. Traditional class distinctions and rich, historical details provide the backdrop for this appealing romance.

The description is from Mangafox (where you can find the whole series and it's 1 volume sequel, Emma: Further Tales)

Now for those of you who've read it, discuss.

At last, people are posting here! emotion_kirakira

I agree with Wanderer as well. It's so...realistic, that sometimes I forget that's traditional manga.

It's not mainstream manga so it would seem different, but it's a really good "slice of life" (genre) whee
Kaoru Mori's other works: Shirley and Otoyomegatari are also very good- she has a unique art style that's highly detailed that draws you into the story and setting.

I love it I love it I love it I love it! I didn't expect to like it back when I watched/read it, and I don't usually like slice of life or calm characters, but I just loved Emma, there was something about her that you couldn't help but adore her<3 and the story Q_Q
