Despite how infrequently he seemed to make time to hang out with his family, Chaka did enjoy their company. Of course, he was always especially interested whenever someone showed an interest in what he liked to do best. That was, of course, dueling. He hadn't yet followed up with Miali after their brief lesson and the referral to Shisa.. but he had decided to see who else might want to practice, and that was how he started it with Matemoto.
"Are you ready?" he asked once they'd found a suitable place to practice, standing opposite his brother.

Matemoto was a little nervous. There was a reason that he was a hunter and not a soldier. He had done almost no fighting previously, but had wondered if it would be beneficial to at least know the basics of fighting. It might help in case there was an issue...or perhaps a female? Firekin was about strength, and he wasn't sure if he was strong enough to be eyecatching. Ugh he felt stupid. Anyway, he had asked his brother to help him, and this was how he ended up in this situation. Gulping, he nodded. He was looking at his brother in a different light. He just hoped he wouldn't be too bruised after this training session. "I'm ready."

"All right, then," Chaka said, nodding- a polite formality he often stuck with when dueling, for no particular reason, he supposed. The only times he had the chance to start out respectfully was in duels with family and they were the ones needing the least reminding he was honorable.
"How do you plan to start?" he asked, starting himself off by starting to circle around, keeping his eyes on Matemoto but making no direct move just yet.

"Umm," Matemoto sighed, watching his brother carefully. He really didn't have much clue as to what he was doing, but the best way to learn was to throw himself into it. At least, that was how he had learned how to hunt. You just have to keep trying until you learn what not to do.
Instead of carefully watching his brother, he lunged towards him, intent on giving a tackle a try. Blindly rushing was all well and good, but it wouldn't always work.

Move: Bide!
Chaka kept moving but he wasn't able to pick it up and get out of the way fast enough when suddenly Matemoto was coming at him. He wasn't sure what he had been expecting but that wasn't quite it-- and he was struck hard. He managed to stay on his feet but it took some effort and his head was spinning for a moment after he was hit, making his effort to move away now a stumble.
"Good, very good."

Matemoto only nodded, but he was surprised at himself. Had he really hit Chaka so hard? He wasn't really sure, but obviously it was enough that he affected Chaka. Hunting must have kept some ideal muscles strong. It was, in a sense, a battle, but Matemoto had always figured that it was still different than fighting against someone else that wanted to hurt you in return, and not just run away.
He mimicked Chaka's movements, following, watching. Perhaps there would be some sort of alert to his movements if only Matemoto took his time and watched his brother's movements.

Move: Miss!
Managing to shake off the spinning feeling, Chaka focused back on what was happening- Matemoto had not taken advantage of his stumbling, a courtesy he maybe should not offer in a real battle but certainly something to appreciate in a duel like this. But now it was Chaka's turn to make a move and he wasn't going to waste it. While Matemoto kept his eyes on him, Chaka lunged forward, lifting a leg and attempting to swipe at his brother with claws extended- aiming to knock his feet off the ground.

Move: Bide!
It worked. Well, mostly. Matemoto was able to see the difference in Chaka, and managed to dodge the attack. It wasn't the most graceful of dodges, but he was able to prevent any damage to him. At the moment. Matemoto was certain that he wouldn't always be getting lucky. Perhaps because he had the time to watch Chaka carefully was the only reason he was able to miss.
"Oh," he said with a bit of surprise, clumsily catching his legs as he turned to keep his attention on his brother. If he kept his eyes off of him for too long, Matemoto was going to return home a little banged up.

Move: Hit!
Unlike Matemoto, Chaka wasn't about to stop and give his brother a chance to recover more from the first attempted attack- though perhaps he might have if he had struck successfully as Matemoto had with him. When his first attempt failed but his brother remained close, he reared up on his back legs and struck outward- attempting an ungraceful shove.
"Don't stop and give me a chance," he warned as he pushed, advising his brother to counter, not just watch.

Move: Hit!
Matemoto felt the surge of power behind Chaka's muscles, and felt himself panic for a moment. It didn't last long. He felt a little angry that he had told himself to pay more attention, and yet he hadn't. S o he had justly deserved that hit. He didn't plan on taking any more.
With a growl, he returned the shove, using the force and Chaka's body to not...fall over from the force. Hopefully he would re-straighten himself out before he lost his footing and catch himself before hitting the ground.

Move: Hit!
As Chaka was shoved back, he was forced to drop his feet back to the ground before he was thrown off balance entirely. He landed awkwardly but he acted quickly, he untangled his feet and went right back at his brother, this time headbutting him in one final effort to get him knocked over. Really, now they had gotten themselves into a shoving match and it was hard to say who would lose their balance first.

Matemoto wasn't really sure how this was going to end, but it wasn't going to be pretty. Instead, somehow, he was able to absorb that headblow that Chaka gave him, and kept himself up on his feet. He didn't want to know why he was able to stay up, but it indeed impressed him with how he was somehow keeping up with his brother.
Matemoto wasn't dumb, though. He was sure that his brother was going a little gentle on him, at least to not utterly destroy him. Matemoto knew that he had been asking for a lot for Chaka to give him some pointers and a little experience. He hadn't quite been expecting that.

Score: 11-12, Matemoto wins!
With nobody making any particular advancement in their shoving match, Chaka chose to relent first, stumbling back as he relaxed. The duel was over, they had reached a stalemate of sorts- but that didn't necessarily make it a draw.
"All right, that's good for now," he said, "I think you got the best of me this time."

Matemoto chuckled. "I'm not so sure about that. You were probably just going easy on me, since it was my first time." He wanted to give himself something of a bath later...and find a nice, warm spot out in the sand to let his muscles relax. He hadn't used some of them in a while, as it was apparent that in battle, you used muscles differently. He found it so much more tense, and was still happy that he was 'just' a hunter.
