I have no recollection of joining this guild or how long I've been a part of it.
I don't check this account very often.
It was a mixed surprise to see some announcements from this place today. On the 17th of this month my mother was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer. It currently occupies 70% of her rectum and sigmoid colon. According to the most recent specialist it's a small cell cancer, and it began only 2 or 3 short months ago.
She started radiation yesterday, and they're doubling up with chemo come Monday.
She's been misdiagnosed twice within the last month. She was experiencing rectal bleeding and her usual doc said it was probably an ulcer, and gave her a treatment. Someone in the ER (she was losing so much blood she went to the hospital) said it was hemorrhoids and gave her a cream. The tumors were finally discovered when they performed an ultrasound to locate the fabled ulcer.
Needless to say this past week has been a hard one.
It's such a weird time in my life to have unknowingly been a part of such a guild, and to have that guild arise when I need it most.
