I WANT SOME SPOTTY TAIL!Cub Name: Chiumba [ "Small" in Swahili ]
Future Name: Thulani [ "Be quiet, be comforted" in Zulu ]
Personality Blurb: In early life, not much will be able to be determined by Chiumba's actions. He will be a very strong Momma's boy, and latch onto her at every opportunity he gets. He will do everything he can in order to make her the happiest lioness alive. Whether it be compliments, small actions, or just being the most well behaved cub he can be. As he gets older, his personality will become more pronounced and he well become a very submissive, female appreciative male who will submit to all females he encounters. After idolizing his Mother for so long, and growing up without
much of a Father figure, it won't be too hard or him to put two and two together and realize that females are the stronger more competent gender. [ Or so he will view it. ]
Entry: Prompt 3
Quote:
“You have recently been introduced to the pride members and given a name. Do you like the name you were given? How did you feel about meeting the pride members – and your father - for the first time?” (cubs are not to hear any words until after they are named and presented to the pride so their speech will be very limited at this time)
Chiumba watched from a safe distance as his sibling rough housed with another on the swampy soil. He wasn't much for the rough housing, he was far more suited for being the back seat driver of sorts. Watching from a distance as the other played, and jumping in at the first sign of trouble. Doing his best to calm the situation, and then immediately running off to get their Mother. She had always known what to do, and he had no doubts that she always would. But today was a bit different, although he would have no need for back seat driving today; he sensed that something was off with his Mother. She seemed different, but he couldn't quite put his paw on it. The thought that something might be badgering her troubled the young cub, beyond any sense of the word.
As he sat in silence, lost in his own thoughts, in finally came to him. His Mother had mentioned something the evening before about a big day ahead of them. Something about their Father... Although Chiumba wasn't really all too sure exactly what a Father was he did remember the first and only time he'd met this Father of his. It had been a very confusing day, and had left the young cub far from a tad shaken up. But it hadn't been a bad day, it had been a proud day - not just for him, but for his Mother. The day he and his litter mates had been introduced to the pride, and given the names they would proudly carry until the right time came to find their true one.
He had been declared Chiumba, which apparently meant 'very small'. Which was quite fitting, given that he was the smallest of them all. He had instantly fallen in love with his name and had spent days trying to properly pronounce it. He just about had it down pat now, but he wasn't confident enough to declare it to his Mother yet; but soon, soon he would be.
Chiumba's thoughts slowly drifted away from the naming ceremony and onto more unclear ones. Ones he was still unsure of, perhaps even a little frightened of. His Father. He'd only met him once, and it hadn't been for a very long time. So little time in fact, that he still wasn't even sure of what a Father was. Surely it had to be something important, if his Mother thought that it would be a big day involving him. The cub knew little to nothing about him except that the family did look a lot like him...
There were so many questions surrounding the day to come, yet Chiumba had so few words to his vocabulary. Sure he could
try to question his Mother, but he had little faith in how well those questions would communicate to his Mother.
With one last look at the tumbling siblings around him. Chiumba began to fade off, his thoughts slowly fading away into the floating images that seemed to appear every time he closed his eyes.
