Her first defeat had not dissuaded Iseq from returning to try again. In fact, if anything, it strengthened her resolve. No challenge, no one, Viking or otherwise, was going to keep her from reuniting with her sister or her nieces and nephews. She hadn't retreated far, simply disappearing into some nearby rocky woodland. Iseq had been fortunate to find some familiar plants that help facilitate healing and helped dull the pain. Laying up for a while, taking it easy, and tending her wounds, once satisfied that she wasn't in such bad shape, she made her way back to the Challenging circle.
Positioning herself along one edge, the lioness moved this way and that, extending each limb in turn to see how her various wounds felt. If there was any notable sensations of her wounds deciding to open themselves up again. Fortunately, her rest and her salve did their jobs and she felt okay, if a bit of a stiff pull here and there across her skin. Righting herself to stand facing the opposite path, Iseq threw her head back in another roar of challenge. She would face whosoever may come and she was ready.

 Erlendr was once more at gate duty, his golden eyes scanning the line of trees, then turning back to watch across the wind swept cliffs, listening to their song. As as challenging as his adopted home was, there was a wild, primal, beauty to it that stirred something inside him. Yes, he was learning to call this place home.
The roar made him turn, his ear flicking toward the sound. He recognized the tone of it. The female had returned, and much sooner then he had expected. He hoped she had given herself enough time to heal.
Standing from where the sentries usually sat, where they could see clearly, but were hard to see from the path leading up, Erlendr came out from behind the rocks and trees to once more meet her at the top of the Challenge ring.
