She was...a mother.

A mother.

To three beautiful cubs. Beautiful cubs. Two girls and a boy and all of them bearing some imprint of their father. The boy looked most like him, with his brilliant white pelt and red eyes. Once he was wandering out in the lands she imagined it would blaze under the intensity of the desert sun. Likewise, one of her daughters had a similar white pelt, though she had inherited her mother's clear, glassy-blue eyes. Then, finally, her other daughter who was, except for a few minor differences in markings, a close replica of Roho herself.

She could not have been more proud and for all the worry and the panic their creation had brought, she loved them dearly. Even now, with them so small and tiny, she imagined them fully grown; powerful and strong and fierce. She imagined Guiren looking down at them, his own eyes proud of that which he had helped make possible. And, through all the loss that Roho had suffered she had been given the miracle of their lives; a piece of her lost mate to keep close to her forever. To protect and hold dear.

Now she lay just before the entrance of the den, the fading sunlight burnishing the dark red fur along her back. Her tail waved slowly back and forth as she regarded the desert and saw in it hope and promise despite the hardship it was currently putting them through. But she could not give up hope. No matter all the horrors she had seen. Hope had kept her fighting. Kept her going through it all. She could not give it up so easily, for if she did, what was there to live for? Against all odds, she had survived the destruction of her pride and made it here. Now that she had arrived, she was going to make it a better and stronger place for her and for her cubs to grow up in. This was her goal in life and she would do it to the best of her ability.

Fate had been against little Suditi from the very start. While she had been conceived long before any of the trouble had started, her earliest days in her mother's womb had been with her as a slave. Even after she had escaped, she had fled to a pride where water was scarce and needed to be rationed to ensure survival. It was no wonder that she had been born small, far smaller than the rest of the cubs in the pride or even the newborn of a rogue. It had taken her longer than normal to make her first mewl, and it was even longer still before she finally opened her eyes.

But all of her struggles as a newborn had ensured one thing about her, a fact cemented into her very being since the moment of her conception. She was strong. While her first cry had been late, the volume and vigor with which she had produced it had more than made up for the wait. Even with her eyes closed she had been active, always nudging her siblings to one side when she drank her mother's milk or crawling over them and batting them with tiny paws in an attempt at play.

And now was no different, even with her eyes open she was still a cub. She was tiny and knew of only three things. Playing, eating, and sleeping. She was neither hungry nor tired, which only left play.

Suditi had spied her mother's bright white tail tip twitches against the dust of the den only a few moments ago, but she had already decided that it was far more interesting than her wrestling siblings. She had fallen to her belly then, pressing herself to the ground and twitching her own tail as she watched her prey. Of course, she didn't remain like this for long. She didn't have the patience to wait like the older lions of the pride.

In only moments she let out a pathetic mew - her own attempt at a roar - and charge, eagerly pouncing on her mother's tail and beginning to mouth at the tuft of fur.

What was this? A little one had found enough bravery to attack whilst her defences were down? With a smirk, Roho's head whipped around to see who had dared--

--Ah, little Suditi!

Schooling her expression into something more wily than amused, Roho jerked her tail, attempting to disengage the little one. Oh, she seemed to have a good grip. Hm...okay, how about this? She lifted her tail up, attempting to raise the cub off of her paws into the air. Unfortunately, even if the cub was still very small, her tail was not built to carry any sort of wait and the plan failed. She'd have to remember that for future sneak-attacks.

With a small 'oomph' she rolled over onto her side, curling in on herself to bat at her daughter gently with a paw. "That's quite a grip you have there, little Suditi." She praised. After all, such signs were good if her children were to grow up to be the best of warriors. "And one day you will have sharp teeth to better it further." Her eyes sparked and she gave her tail another sharp jerk, attempting to pull free from her captor and then bring it back towards Suditi again.

It was never too early to teach a cub a strong pounce.
