A New Following!

Time open has been extended! This thread closes on the 24th of September at 12 noon PST.

The pride has begun to re-organize itself as it often does. The presence of new-rogues and deaths have shifted loyalties and relations. Two main candidates for Umama have begun to emerge, though others may hold their allegiance to others still.

Bẹ̀rù [played by Princess_Feylin]: This is one of the lioness' responsible for learning the location of Biti's daughter, Tunda. She is dedicated to the pride, despite having a sometimes sour personality and a dry sense of humour. She voted against movement.

Simosihle [played by Neon Fly]: Though Simosihle has always had a competitive rivalry with another lioness', she voted against movement of the pride. She believes that it is strength that determines value, as opposed to coloring or heritage.

How to ICly Vote

You may recognize this from the Firekin plot ORP; Mimsey has kindly let us borrow the format! The two prides are very regionally close and will, on rare occasions, come to have brief interaction.

All pride members may vote. In addition, lions may vote for themselves, or elect lions for leadership not mentioned.

To have your lion follow one female or another, make an IC post in the thread where your lion votes for one character or another. These will be factored in when new lion groups are formed. At the end of voting, the newly formed groups will be given their own names.

Follow Bẹ̀rù: Indicates that this lioness wishes to follow under the guidance of Bẹ̀rù.

Follow Simosihle: Indicates that this lioness wishes to follow under the guidance of Simosihle.

Follow Another: This should include a name of the lioness that this character wishes to follow. A lioness can present herself as an Umama.

Questions and Rules

If you have a question, please PM it to the mule.

I do not have a Meta-Character, can I still vote?
Anyone with a member of the Boneland's pride may vote, regardless of whether it is an 'official meta character' or not. If you do not have a Boneland's pride member, the joining application thread will be open throughout the meta, and you may submit female lions for joining.

Can our Characters argue with other player's characters?
Absolutely! You may post in this thread as many times as you'd like, but only bold one choice per character. You may also start your own argument RPs outside of this one if you would like.

Rules

  • IC groups will be formed based on votes made in this thread.
  • All ages of characters may vote! Cubs may follow a different group than their parent, if they so wish.
  • Once made, do NOT change who your lion follows
  • This is not long enough to be used as a breeding RP, but you CAN use it as a JRP to get your cert.

Another meeting. Kamal wasn't entirely sure what all the fuss about umama's or what not was about. Weren't they still arguing about moving or staying? The large lion typically kept himself interested in only a handful of things at a time. Anything over that started to burn out the wheels in his head. His paws pulsed in the dry sand of the earth. Troubling times were not the sort for Kamal, who typically always assumed the worse of any given situation. His reaction, unfortunately, was of varying levels of aloofness.

Choosing between two women was always a difficult matter. On one hand, Bẹ̀rù was a lovely shade of darkish grey and green. He'd always liked green, possibly because his eyes were green. Simosihe was slate. She also said things like 'strength is important', which was something Kamal liked to say to himself. He liked people who agreed with him. But on the other hand, both voted against moving. That meant they were both of questionable sensibilities.

The golden lion yawned. Weighing the 'advantages' of each, it seemed like a clear choice. "My vote will be with Simosihle." At least she wasn't entirely unfortunate. "What we need now is strength."

Gazing at the faces that surrounded her Simosihle could hardly sit still. There was a tick in her shoulder blade causing the fur that sat over it to twitch repeatedly. Just what did all this mean? Umama. It was a big, scary word. A title held by the older generations of her family line. How had they handled it when they had been named Umama, she wondered.

Chancing a careful glance at Beru when the green female wasn't watching, Simo felt as if they were being pitted against once another. An odd sensation considering they had shared similar views up until this point. They had hunted and even discovered news of Tunda together. So why this now?

Lately it sure as hell felt like all those who might have been her friends were being pulled in different directions. Apparently that was the effect strife had on a pride. I just want to go back to the carefree days where the hardest decisions I had to make was deciding how to best one-up Nikon.

Nikon.

Simosihle wondered which way she would vote, if she chose to show up at all. A desperate frown made her maw tighten into a thin line so as not to outwardly express the tumbling emotions that made her stomach swirl with unease. So this was growing up. Responsibility. The pale lioness found she would have eagerly given up a chance at leadership simply to have her old life back.

But there was no going back---not ever again.
Only forward from this point on.

And as the first vote was cast, she held herself with a careful sort of poise.
Come what may, Simo would be ready to face it.

Beru couldn't help feeling bewildered by the sudden turn of events. The pride had voted against her and Simo when they made the decision to leave their ancestral home, and yet they now wanted to instate one or the other of them as Umama. A perverse, contrary part of Beru's mind wanted to call them all out for it, point out how illogical and nonsensical it was for them to do this. She did her best to ignore this part of her mind because she knew it would do no good.

But maybe it would be better if she did, Beru thought. If the conclusion had somehow been reached by anyone that she would make any sort of a person to follow, perhaps it would be best if they knew her opinions. Not that she had ever been one not to state her opinions when she felt it appropriate and necessary, but she wasn't sure that this was one such occasion. Maybe it wouldn't even become an issue. Kamal had made his choice, and surely with his decision made and stated first, everyone else would just fall in line with him.

Beru didn't look at Simo or at anyone else. Her purple-eyed gaze remained fixed on a point in the distance. She had no wish to influence people one way or the other. They knew her, had known her all her life, just as they had Simo. Things would fall out the way they did.

A vote for a new Umama hadn't been entirely unexpected, but it had still caught Dina as off-guard as anyone else. Not to mention the candidates themselves being part of the suprise. They had both voted against the move, leaving little in the way of variety in that department. However, it forced the more potent issue in Dina's mind, and that's what they believed in beyond that single, large decision.

It wasn't a difficult decision for Dina, having very strict beliefs of her own and finding them somewhat agreeable with one of the candidates. That, after all, was the deciding factor for the female who grown up in this pride for as long as she could remember. "My vote is for Simosihle", she stated without a second thought to the matter. Nevermind that Kamal had done the same, his or anyone else's vote wouldn't sway her either way. Dina, being the stubborn lioness that she was, had her opinions and that was all she needed to make a decision. Of course, it helped that she also knew how her daughter, Mimo, felt about Beru. Considering how far apart they had drifted already, Dina wasn't exactly keen on widening that gorge with her daughter. Maybe someday she would change Mimo's mind about the other lioness, but until that day came it was best to leave things be. Perhaps that was biased, but her vote had been cast, and that was the important part.

Tapa wasn't too surprised by her friend's nomination - but she didn't think Beru was the right kind of lioness to become an Umama.
Besides, if Beru became an Umama, there would be a gap between them. Beru was Tapa's best friend, and the only lioness she was close to aside from her sister. She didn't want there to be a gap between them.
"I vote for Simosihle," she said, offering no other information.

Yejide wasn't used to all of these decisions. What was once a rare treat, is now passé. The pride members were asked to voice their opinions on a number of subjects. Leaving Yejide feeling as though this was becoming more of a chore. It was easier to be told what to do. Making decisions was too much of a bother.

When she padded up to the little grouping, the lioness wondered what the fuss was about. Both ears perked forward as she listened to each pride member cast their vote. With the pair of females in question, distinctly quiet. It wasn't hard to single them out. Putting two and two together, in didn't take long for her to figure it out. Having been born into this pride, it was a surprise that she never had the pleasure of befriending either of the females. She knew them but wasn't close to them.

So in her eyes, Yejide saw both Beru and Simosihle in the same light. Both voted against moving and both learned the location of the missing cub... They were practically equals.

In all honesty, Yejide wasn't sure who to choose. But when the common theme in votes all pointed in one direction, Yejide noticed. Maybe these others knew something of Beru that she didn't? Even Tapa, who was known to be a friend of the dark lioness voted for the grey female.
"I vote for Simosihle." She chimed in, figuring that one extra vote wouldn't hurt.

A traditionalist. That was what Onaedo was and there were somethings that she couldn't over look. Ideas she just couldn't ignore. She had been born in to this pride and its traditions were her traditions. The ideas that one of these potential Umama was putting forwards, upset, the older lioness. She could not abide by it.

Moving forwards the pale masked lioness flicks her tail at those near by and voices her opinion
"I wish to see Bẹ̀rù raise to this position." She flicks a look at a few of the lionesses whom had voted for the opposition before moving away to settle near the back of the group. She could continue to watch the proceedings, observant and hopeful, if Simosihle was voted in to power she would not be happy about it but she would follow the groups rules. That was what she had always done.

Aaaand once again Njalo'sasa found herself sitting around with a ring of familiar faces as they continued to vote and debate and argue about the fate of the pride and everything that entailed. Like others who were seated there, the excitable Njalo felt antsy. Fidgeting in her spot with the urge to be elsewhere chasing antelope or being of use to others of the pride. Sitting on her tail had been a far too common activity of late and the novelty of it had long since worn off.

Instead, the sweet faced umzingeli tried, fruitlessly, to take what was being said into account. They were deciding on a new Umama--or who would want to follow which lioness as the new Umama--or they were splitting up into team for a game maybe? Nja liked games!

This train of thought causing her attention to focus a bit more intently. Everyone seemed to be picking Simosihle's team to be on, not that that surprised Njalo. She loved Simo too and knew that the dusty female was really smart and would make a good team leader! She'd certainly had enough practice playing all those silly games with Nikon! Of course, this left Njalo rather at a loss as to who she should side with.

On one paw, Njalo wanted to be with her close friend, but on the other the game wouldn't be much fun--not to mention one sided--if everybody chose to be with Simosihle! Perhaps that was the reason that most drove Nja to choose as she did, with only Onaedo on Beru's side, they definitely needed to even up the odds some! The silky furred lioness pushing herself up against Onaedo's side with a grin as she beamed at her elder. Naenae! Looks like we're going to be on the same team, hee!

Trilling at the group from where she sat, practically pushing the poor Onaedo over in her enthusiasm. Njalo wants to be with Beru too!!

Amara listened to the votes of the others, and thought hard about her own choice. She didn't dislike either lioness, nor could she claim to be particularly friendly with either one. They were both worthy the title that might be theirs, and surely the pride would benefit either way... But in the end, she decided to go with what she percieved to be the steadier, more traditional choice.

"I would also follow Bèrù."
