I thought the point of the dissipator system was to shy away from the unreliable midlength gas systems in favor of carbine systems.

no. original dissipators were cut down and re crowned rifle length systems. the idea behind it was to have the added maneuverability of a carbine with the accuracy and handguards of a full rifle length system. the problem was that the shorter barrel caused timing issues in the rifle length gas system. nowadays dissipators with carbine and midlength systems are more commonplace

midlength gas system is incredibly reliable on a 16 inch, and a much better option than a carbine gas system which has another timing issue of it's own where it wants to extract too early.

so that being said midlength is ideal

waiting on a rear MBUS to come in the mail, and ill probably throw on a vortex strike fire optic later on

expenses so far going into this

upper-$450

lower- $400... that's including the $200 UBR stock, the enhanced trigger guard, MIAD grip and BAD lever already installed. bought it from an instructor dude who im likely to get my CHP training from.

so yeah, about $950....and counting

this build can easily be accomplished for about 200-300 dollars less. just take away the UBR stock and build the lower yourself
