Eileifr had taken a few moments, not long but long enough that the first bout which had warmed his muscles had caused them to cool, he knew that'd not be wise, the first blow he'd taken he knew would leave him bruised in one or two places and he didn't want to feel that just yet. He paced back and forth, quicken his pace and shook his mane as he moved, he felt the warmth of motion and pushed all thoughts from his mind as he turned and stared the large male in the eye, 'I'm ready.' Out of training, roaming the rogue lands had put him out of practice from the form he once had as a guard in his old pride but he was as ready as he'd ever be.

In contrast to the rogue male, Lennart had stood quietly, pale eyes patient as he watched the other male. Young and fit, he knew his limits perhaps better than most other lions except his fellow Viking warriors.
When at last the male turned to him and proclaimed himself ready resume, Lennart politely dipped his head (though never once took his gaze form the stranger) before starting to circle him, getting a feel for the male's new temperament and possible strengths now that he had decided to fight fairly.

The large male seemed almost relaxed and laid back but he knew better that than, simply battle trained and less hungry for action that a young lion or one with a chip on his/her shoulder. Eileifr closed the distance between them and then methodically began to circle along with his opponent, he knew he was less quick on his paws than himself but not as much as his size suggested, never underestimate was always a good rule. He needed speed now so didn't circle for long fiercely crossing diagonally through their circle and lashed out with his right paw, claws out.

Lennart saw the charge, his own body swerving into the circle, and instead of trying to avoid the blow, he raced straight at the other male, taking the unsheathed claws to his shoulder but the pain didn't register as his pale fur was speckled with red. Instead he was focused on the other lion as they crashed together, chest to chest. Forelimbs lashed out, locking round the other male's shoulders, maw wide open and reaching for the softer flesh under the grey rogue's jaw. He knew this time the other male would fight him, and fight him properly, so he didn't plan on holding back.

Eileifr was a little surprised at the force the other male came at him but he thanked him for it, he was taking him in a different light, he was fighting as if he was fighting someone who wanted to live, who wanted to win and it spurred him on. He slammed chest to chest with the other male, they where both up on their hind quarters, embraced in a deadly hold when the defendant lunged fangs bared for his throat. Eileifr tucked his head in and brought it back, twisting as he did so, so the lunged went more in the direction of the lower part of his shoulder. He snarled at the grazed of fangs and they came to rest on his flesh but it was a minor deflected blow and in response he twisted once again and attempted to settle his own fangs into the side of his opponents neck that was now at an ideal angle to him.

It was an expected defense/counter-attack and Lennart was an old hand at this style of close-quarters sparring. With his bulk and natural strength, he preferred the up close and personal style of fighting, unlike his Captain who used speed with his strength, or the odd-sounding Erlandr, a rogue from the far east who moved like flowing water and spoke in riddles.
When the twist and strike came, Lennart had already twisted to face it, his own fangs bared wide and glistening in the light as he lunged, snapping sharp fangs at the stranger's muzzle. With a massive heave he shoved forwards, aiming to sen the other male off-balance and sprawling, allowing him to press his attack.

Eileifr was slow to react, the larger male was quicker and obviously more use to close quarter fighting. He'd twist out half way, not to attack Eileifr's other side as he went to land his own, no he came half way and Eileifr came face to face with his opponents open jaw. He reeled back but as he did so the defendant hauled his weight forward. Eileifr was unbalanced of course with that much weight thrown at him, though thankfully though, the weight went deeper to his shoulders so rather than sending him back over his own hind legs, the weight pushed him down, his back legs pushed back and the embrace was broken. Though his opponents still had to land his own paws and the close embrace, and Eileifr having not travelled back to far meant the other male would inevitably land quickly on him.

Following the challenger down he lost his grip on the other's shoulders, claws raking down heaving sides before landing with a thud on the ground. Yet instantly Lennart struck out again, shoving his weight forwards into Eileifr's shoulder, having landed slightly to the side of the other lion. Claws snagged on Eileifr's foreleg as Lennart went for his neck again, maw wide and fangs gleaming.
This fight was less about the art of fighting and far more about wrestling, a welcome change for the pale reaver. Despite the situation, he was truly enjoying himself, not really aiming to damage the other male, but certainly out to test his worthiness to join the pride.
