Lucky Perkins was a wanderer.

User Image

He always lived off the land.

User Image

And had a talent for finding treasures among people’s old discarded rubbish.

User Image

So much so that he even found an old abandoned house all for himself.

User Image

Staying in one place for very long wasn’t something he was accustomed to but there was something about the house that called to him.

User Image

Plus it gave him a chance to try his hand at actually growing his own fruits and vegetables instead of just foraging.

User Image

Over time his wanderlust began to grow and he had nearly decided to pack up and leave,

User Image

But destiny had something else in store for him.

One day, a couple hours before dawn, he went down to the river to go fishing
User Image

He heard a peculiar noise. There was an infant lying on the ground all alone!
User Image

He looked around and shouted but no one was around and the nearest building wasn't for miles.
User Image

He decided the best course of action would be to take care of the child himself.
User Image

He found a crib for her at the junkyard and took it home.
User Image

He named her after his late aunt Paula and swore to love and take care of her as though she were his own flesh and blood.

As Paula grew so did Lucky's love for her.
User Image

Eventually he needed to buy her things he couldn't find in the junkyard.
User Image

But the old man always knew how to make ends meet. No matter what he did or where he went, Paula never left his side.

As Lucky walked home with Paula after a long day of fishing they passed by the schoolhouse. Paula begged her father to let her start going to school so she could be around kids her age and he just couldn't say no.
User Image

He also couldn't say no when she asked for help with her homework though it did make him realize how little he knew in the way of "book learnin'"
User Image

So he taught her all the things he did know about. He showed her how to plant and maintain a vegetable garden.
User Image

He showed her all the best lures to use when fishing.
User Image

And most importantly he showed her how to "borrow stuff from people who don't need it as much" without getting caught.

Paula loved making friends at school. One day she asked her friend Serena to come to her house to play afterschool.
User Image

Lucky wasn't happy about it at all. He didn't like having strangers over.
User Image

But after begging him to let Serena stay, Paula got to play with her friend.
User Image

They even did their homework together. Paula finished first, of course.

Paula was an adventurous young girl.
User Image

Sometimes she was a little mischevious.
User Image

One of her favorite hobbies was searching for gems and ore from the old abandoned mine.
User Image

She made enough money seling her findings to buy herself a telescope.

As a teen, Paula developed all kinds of hobbies.
User Image

As well as some pretty sticky fingers.

User Image

She spent less and less time at home with Lucky.
User Image

But she came home every night, if for no other reason than to avoid getting caught after curfew.

What a great story! Will there be more?
I had him crash a party my Sim was holding once.

Oh, I have a LOT more planned for this family.
I had a really hard time progressing after this point because I thought he was just going to die of old age since he was an elder. But NO. He just refused to die. HE reached the age of 112 before I gave up and burned him to death (which, of course, took half the day to accomplish. stressed ) I didn't have any life fruit to keep the girl from aging. But no worries, I changed the story to cater to his fiery orange ghost.

Lucky wanted to find something that would make Paula spend more time with him, like an old T.V. he could repair or at least a stereo.
User Image

But the shady members of the Outstanding Citizen Warehouse Corp. had illegally dumped extremely volitile chemicals at the jank yard. Lucky's rifling through the heap caused a series of explosions that no one could have lived through.
User Image

Over the years Lucky had taught Paula and to survive and be self-reliant but she still wasn't used to being completely alone.
User Image

She broke into a wealthy family's garage and stole a sports car. Without her dad Riverview just wasn't the same so she drove away in search of a new place where she could start a new life.

Paula wandered for a while until she found her way to the city of Bridgeport.
User Image

She immediately sold the car to avoid being tracked down and opted for riding a bike and using public transportation around the city.
User Image

With the money she had she got a quaint little apartment on the 11th floor of a tall building.
User Image

She kept all that remained of Lucky on an endtable next to her bed.
User Image

To support herself she would fish at the bay,
User Image

She picked pockets,

User Image

She grew vegetables in a small patch of grass in the front of her apartment building (which was probably against the rules but no one ever stopped her)
User Image

And she played the bass for tips, which was by far her favorite way to make money.
User Image

Due to chance, a toned physique, and copious amounts of smooth talking she even got a job as famous pop star Lola Belle's personal trainer for a couple weeks.

Lola hooked Paula up with an up-and-coming jazz band. Paula had a really good time with the band but she didn't stay with them for too long.
User Image

It was partially because the drummer was kinda mediocre but the main reason was because she had discovered a new calling: Bartending.
User Image

She asked the bartender at a sports bar she had been playing at about how to get into the business. The girl was nice enough to give her a book about the basics of mixology. Paula read it cover to cover.
User Image

Paula bought a bar just to practice making drinks. The thing just barely fit in her apartment and she realized it was about time to find a bigger place to live.
User Image

She also bought a steam cleaner when her juggling skills proved less than perfect.
User Image

But she kept at it and got better. Thus began her career as a bartender.

Blah, started playing The Sims: Medieval and got totally obsessed with it, causing my story to go on extended hiatus. It will pick back up someday when I get around to it.
