S'chor jerked instinctively when she heard a very familiar and much deeper voice than her own or Fido's calling her name. She squealed again in indignation as Daddy lifted her by the scruff of her neck and flailed helplessly a few moments longer.

This was very nearly as useless as it had been when she'd been a newborn cub and the juvenile gave in and hung angrily from Jitokeza's mouth.

"Daaaaaaddy, he threw mud in my face!" she whined piteously, trying to crane her head around to some angle where she could see his eyes.

Jitokeza took a step back, taking his daughter with him, glaring down at Fido as they both reacted to his intervention. It was probably better that he couldn't get a good look at S'chor as she tried to justify the fight- she was far better at drawing sympathy out of the dark lion than the boys.

Fido froze almost as soon as he heard his father's voice, which ultimately made it easier to remove his sister. He didn't get up out of the water immediately either, instead he stared up at his sister and father-- until S'chor tried to tattle on him.

"She called me an evil spirit!" he cried, flailing until his feet found the ground and he pushed himself back upright. He looked up at his father expectantly, fighting the urge to glare at S'chor.

Sighing, he took another step back and set S'chor down on the ground so he could talk to them both.

"That doesn't mean you should fight like that," he said, frowning at each of them. It was convenient neither tried to say the other had started it- and he could see it starting with either thing, "If you can't play nice by yourselves, you'll have to stay at home with me and your mother."

He looked back and forth between them.

"You can save the story for there," he said, not giving either a chance to argue, "Come on."

S'chor opened her mouth to protest, but a good look at Daddy's eyes stifled the urge. Instead she turned to her brother and shot him a glare. It was all his fault anyway, playing in the mud like that. If he didn't insist on getting all dirty and spreading it around, she'd never have pounced on him like that.

The black lioness sighed and followed her father home. She didn't know what he had planned to punish her, but past experience said it wasn't going to be fun for the next several days at least.

Fido huffed but knew better than to argue. He shot S'chor a glare in return, stomping out of the water- splashing as much as he could on the way- to follow after his sister and father.

Jitokeza maintained his serious face, though he knew this was something he and his mate could chuckle about later since neither were hurt and both had ridiculous excuses. He let S'chor get a step ahead of him and shot Fido a look as he insisted on splashing.

"Fido, move it," he said, nodding toward home and then turning to lead the way. Kids.

Fin!
