User ImageRu wasn't really accustomed to waking up warm. He usually slept in a den with several other unmated males who couldn't be bothered to set up their own dens because they weren't usually around to keep them, but that didn't mean he curled up next to any of them and shared body heat. That was not his thing. So the question of why he could feel someone else's fur and body heat along his side was one he definitely wanted an answer for.

Trying to keep his movements to a bare minimum to avoid waking whoever it was, Ru opened his eyes and looked around. To his dismay, he was neither in his den nor alone. Instead he was in one of the patches of 'n** that grew around the pride and next to him was...someone very pink, which meant she definitely was not the lioness he might have expected to wake up next to, if he was going to wake up next to anyone.

Bilijo was her name, and generally Ru didn't think much of her. That made the situation all the more mysterious and horrifying. That, and the fact that he had no idea what had happened to result in this unconventional waking.

User ImageBilijo certainly remembered last night. It was magical. Why, with only a wee little touch of the n**, the dark and handsome stranger was all hers. She faintly remembered him blathering about some girlfriend or other, but Bilijo had never been picky about whether her males were already spoken for. She took 'em when she could get 'em.

The pink lioness had been awake only a little longer than the male next to her. "Morning, Ruuuun," Bilijo cooed, drawling Ru's nickname out so that it almost sounded like 'Ron'. It was kind of early in the morning to act seductive, but Bilijo gave it her best shot, giving him a winning smile. There was crusted food stuck to the corners of her mouth, but he looked in pretty bad shape himself. Hey, when you partied, you partied. Ain't no thang.

"Are you going to get me some breakfast?"

Ru's ears lay as flat against his skull as his incoming mane would allow. His was not the face of a happy cat, since Bilijo's consciousness effectively destroyed any hope he might have had of sneaking away and pretending nothing had ever happened.

At her mangling of his nickname he actually winced. He knew his name was long and a pain to pronounce, which is why he didn't mind it being shortened to Ru. Ru. A nice, strong name. Not a name that, for whatever reason, conjured images of useless redheads who kept better company than they deserved.

"Don't do that," he said when she bared her teeth at him. Belatedly he realized it was meant to be a smile and shuddered internally. Gods.

Her question about breakfast went ignored as it occurred to him that there had definitely been n** involved last night, and probably more of it than he should have had. Why he would be sharing n** with Bilijo confused him, but evidently that was what had happened. Unless...

"How long have you been there?"

Oh, so he was a chatty lion. Bilijo stretched out a bit, getting comfortable. She supposed she was willing to chat for a bit. She had never figured Ru for the type of lion that would enjoy pillowtalk, but to each his own. "Just as long as you have, sweetie," Bilijo purred. She snuggled into the dark lion a bit. "Of course, we weren't sleeping at first..." Bilijo giggled.

Maybe it was a little premature, but Bilijo thought that this lion might be 'the one'. It tended to scare lions off when you came out with that within the first eight hours or so of a relationship, but she was almost positive. She didn't want to frighten him, though. She would have to wait at least until lunch to tell him.

And speaking of lunch ... her belly rumbled insistently. "Why don't you get me some breakfast? Then we can do a little repeat performance." She smiled at him, but her voice was growing a bit more strident. She really did want something to eat. NOW.

Ru's eyes widened, dismay and the sunlight lightening the green to a paler shade than usual. That...was not a good answer. Not a good answer at all. In the back of his mind a little voice that was growing louder by the second told him to DO SOMETHING. Unfortunately it wasn't very helpful in suggesting exactly what he could do.

"About that," Ru began. "I really don't remember anything about last night. Want to tell me about it?"

As soon as the words left his mouth Ru regretted them. If she interpreted that as an invitation to relive every moment in excruciating detail, as he rather expected she would, it would make for painful hearing. Not to mention it would increase the amount of time he was required to spend in her presence.

Though she had provided him with an easy out if he decided he didn't want to hear her version of last night's events. He could claim to be going for breakfast and then never come back. But he couldn't do that. Unlike some Reavers he might name, Ru wasn't the sort to run away from problems. Even when they had the worst carrion breath a person could imagine.

"Explanations before breakfast," he decided, stating his wishes quite firmly. He also suspected that he didn't want to be around to watch Bilijo eat.

Didn't remember anything about last night? Bilijo felt slightly offended. She always did her best to make her lovemaking sessions extremely memorable. She didn't consider it a job well done until the details were seared into her partner's memory for all eternity. The pink lioness frowned, feeling a bit put out.

She was further annoyed by his insistence on explaining before eating breakfast. "Hmph," Bilijo huffed, trying to decide what to do. She thought she might starve to death at any moment.

Still ... maybe things weren't all bad. She did have some leverage. A sly smile spread over her muzzle. "We can go to breakfast together, and I'll explain on the way," Bilijo said. Ooh, that would be delectable.

Ru's eyes slid from one side of the field to the other as he considered the unpalatable options before him. Not including the somewhat unpalatable female. He didn't consider her an option. He didn't know what had possessed him to do so last night.

Maybe she'd come upon him already drunk, when his defenses were down and lured him with the promise of more n**. And then...His mind shied away from what might have happened next. He only needed to think the words. No images, please. He had a much harder time putting images from his mind than he did words, which were slippery things for him at the best of times.

"I'm really not hungry," Ru said truthfully. The full implications of what had obviously been a disastrously bad decision to get drunk in the first place were still sinking in, and each one was kind of like a weight dragging down on his gut, making him nauseated. Or maybe that was the beginnings of a hangover.

"If you're so hungry, you get breakfast. I'll lie here and be sick until you get back."

Bilijo's belly was rumbling audibly now. She wasn't used to being denied food! She hadn't eaten anything since her second post-midnight snack, and she feared she might waste away. Bilijo was quite proud of her luscious curves. She didn't want to turn into some skeleton!

But then Ru might escape. Escape their love.

Bilijo frowned petulantly at the dark, handsome lion. "But Ruuuu," she whined. "I'm your fiancée now! You don't want me to die, do you?" She batted her eyelashes seductively and lashed her beautiful tail. The motion loosened a noxious fart from her nethers, which somewhat spoiled the effect.

"If you get me something to eat I'll let you do that thing you like again," Bilijo cooed, leaning in closer to Ru. "That special thing ... you remember ..." She farted again and giggled coquettishly. "I'll blame that one on you." She leered at Ru, waggling an eyebrow suggestively.

The sick feeling in his stomach was growing and he felt as if he should be able to hear it. But no, that was just the sound of Bilijo's impressive gut complaining about going unfed for...how long had it been? A few hours. Such a lioness would be an insatiable drain as a mate. He pitied the fool who got suckered into taking her on. And it would not be him.

"No. We are not affianced!" Ru's voice was firm and unwavering as he made this declaration. "I am not marrying you."

Now that he was able to make declarative statements, Ru was not about to let up. He wanted to be sure there would be no continuation of this conversation, not now or at any point in the future. It would be as if none of this ever happened. He would make sure of it, even if he had to commit murder. Which he might do if she ever farted at him again.

Ru got to his feet and bared his teeth in an expression which was definitely not a smile. A growl rumbled in his chest and turned into a full snarl in very short order.

"Get away from me. Now. Never come near me again and never speak of this to anyone." Probably she was too dense or distracted by hunger to understand the implications of his words, so he elaborated: "I will kill you if you do. I will do it slowly and there will be a great deal of blood and pain, and I will enjoy it like nothing else you can imagine."

And, truly, there was a glint in his eye as he referred to what he would do to Bilijo if she ever turned up in his life again. If she forced him, he would detail his plans. They were already forming, and just the thought made his pupils dilate. All that blood.

This was not going at all like Bilijo wanted. Her face went through a dramatic range of expressions as Ru started hollering about this and that. Surprise. Anger. Sullenness. A particularly interesting puffy-cheeked pouty face that made her look as though she had been stung several times by wasps.

Somewhere deep below the overwhelming Bilijo-ness that made up her personality, the smart part of Bilijo's brain was alarmed. It was, however, about as powerful as a firefly's glow next to a bonfire. Bilijo wouldn't further provoke him, but neither was she about to run away.

The pink lioness settled on a sullen glare. "You shouldn't talk like that to me, Ruuu. I could be carrying your cubs. Hmmf!" And with that, Bilijo turned tail on her lover and sashayed away towards breakfast. Ru was horribly rude, but he would be back. He would be back.

No one could resist Bilijo for long.

Ru wondered if Bilijo was about to suffer an apoplectic attack, which would actually put an end to all his concerns, but it seemed not. Pity. Maybe she'd choke on a bone and die. That'd be acceptable, too.

At the horrifying thought that she might be carrying his cubs, Ru had to fight against his gag reflex. He had not had sex with that creature. Surely even if he had been aroused when she met him last night, her very voice would have killed his boner. It was just not possible that she could be carrying his cubs. And if she was...

He shuddered as she was leaving, trapped in nightmarish thoughts of what it would be like for her to bear his cubs. How would anyone even tell she was pregnant until she gave birth? Probably she'd just fart them out and then eat them. Or maybe...

"Kaaaak!"

There was last night's mint, plus a bit of bonus bile. His nose wrinkled and he retreated. Sometimes there was no other option.
