The leaf shuddered under the weight, bending to the droplets will and bending downwards until the water rolled off to splash on the cub's face. A pink tongue, making an odd contrast with the bright fur, reached up out of the mouth to lick at the water on her nose.
The jungle around Alunta seemed empty, for the most part. At least to her untrained eyes. She wasn't far away enough from the others that their voices were distant sounds on the horizon. She could hear the babysitter she had been left with scolding another cub. Who, she wasn't sure. So long as it wasn't her. Of course, if she didn't return to the group soon enough, she would receive a scolding of her own. The jungle wasn't for little cubs, they said. One could easily get lost, someone else told her.
"I'm not going to get lost," she humphed, watching a few birds fly above her head and swatting at a fly on her rump with her tail. She was close enough she knew what direction the others were based on the sounds they made. Wasn't that enough? They couldn't expect her to sit still all the time. Here was a new land she wanted to explore. So much different from the roguelands she had been born in.
As were the customs. Alunta had gathered how to greet another, but so far that was about it. And where she slept. That was perhaps her favorite of the new ways. She certainly didn't miss sleeping on the cold ground anymore.

Ayo looked around in the jungle this was the perfect place. The perfect place to train. The jungle terrain allowed his to tune his jumping skills. Not to mention the water coated plants gave him a challenge for sticking to them. Yes this is exactly what he needed. He was carful though he knew how to get back to the pride lands, it was in of the first things he taught himself. Not the mention the various clues he left for himself.
Ayo started off simple jumping from rock to rock, he feel off the first few times his paws still not used to the terrain but then he felt invisible that was until he tried to swing. Ayo looked at the vine, "I got this, this is a piece of meat." He took a deep breath before running and jumping grabbing the giant vine with his teeth and front paws and even is tail. He felt the rush, the air racing past his face, he felt free and untouchable; that was until he heard a snap. He looked up the vine was braking, he tried to get off but couldn't then SNAP! "AHHHHHHHHHHH!" He said as he fell to the ground and for a moment he lay still.

Alunta moved towards a plant and started to poke at it. She had been warned what felt like a thousand times not to wander away and rashly go close to something she didn't know in the jingle. The animals, birds, insects, and even the plants weren't what one would find in the roguelands. But she couldn't help it. To a little cub who had known nothing but trees, dirt, and tall grass, this was wondrous.
It amazed her more the climbing abilities the lions born here had. Since she wasn't, she still hadn't mastered how to climb to a lower branch on trees. Her father always assured her she would get it one day. But Alunta was impatient. She was quite a handful for the babysitters.
Her father was off on a hunt, today. One of the few things the little cub had little interest in.
The pink tongue emerged from the small mouth to lick the plant when a yell pierced the quiet around her. Startled, Alunta jumped and hid in a bush, peering out cautiously as if she was expecting some huge attack on her small body. It took her a while to realize it hadn't been a yell of charge or someone finding her having wandered away. More like someone caught off guard by an unwelcome surprise.
Tilting her head, Alunta bounded out of the foliage and towards the direction she thought she heard the sound. A bright patch of fuzz lay on the ground, which she prodded with her paw. It looked like another cub. It had her ears, a tail, and big paws. Maybe if she...
"Hey!"
