Kirimi looked out over the duelling arena with a cool expression, her heart and soul concentrating on the fire billowing out of her veins. It had taken her longer than she would have liked to heal from her crushing defeat, but now, she felt as strong as an ox.

She was used to the sands. Every shifting movement blended in with her own. The hot air no longer stung her lungs; rather, she embraced it and stood tall, even with her petite frame. The Firekin may have her dwarfed, but damn it, today she was finally going to be one of them.

Today was going to be her day to shine!

Kasi walked confidently towards the duelling area, her pace even and measured. She had been duelling since a young age, but this was her first joining duel with a rogue. It would be interesting, and it gave her a swell of pride. She was defending the pride with her skills, keeping out the weak or the unworthy from their ranks.

It was a rewarding feeling, and Kasi would try her hardest in the fight.

Approaching the sandy area, she locked her eyes onto the female she was to fight. Good colouring, if a bit dark, and small, but that was the rogue way, she supposed. Was their smaller size useful in the rogue lands? She didn't know, but it certainly wouldn't help too much in these lands.

She stopped, and nodded to the female. "First move to you," she said calmly, and fell into a defensive position. No use making idly chit-chat, they weren't there to be friends.

As soon as Kirimi laid eyes on the larger female, she knew that this one meant business. Though her eyes may have been cooler, the fire in them was as bright as her coat, and Kirimi knew she'd have to step up her game around this one.

Then it hit her. She had seen this same lioness in her visions, fighting him on these sands, and knew instantly that if she wanted to find him, she would be the one to help. All she had to do was defeat her.

Kirimi nodded. She shifted her paws into an easier stance before sliding in, swiping her paw at her opponent, but only coming away with a gust of air.

Kasi kept her gaze firmly on her opponent, and when she swiped forward, Kasi leapt back. She was fast - faster than most expected her to be. She had caught Xennek out the first time they had duelled with her speed, dodging almost every one of his attacks. She smirked as the hit missed her, and moved back towards the female, her paw raised to strike.

She aimed for the female's rump - no claws extended. Not yet. She was simply testing her opponent for now, and that required no claws. Though with Kasi's size, a clawless strike would still hurt. She was, after all, a firekin born and bred.

True to form, Kirimi hadn't expected the larger females sped, nor had she counted it out. If she had learned one thing from her duels it was never to underestimate your opponent.

It was for that reason when she was struck on the rump that she placed some distance between the two of them. Even though she hadn't taken blood, Kirimi knew she could have easily and the blow stung, never the less.

Kirimi stood by, catching her breath and waiting for the right moment to strike.

Kasi watched her, amused. She wasn't tired already, was she? That would be sad, Kasi thought. She was enjoying herself. She could throw herself fully into the duel and test her skills against a rogue - a symbol of the outside world. So far, she was doing well, but she couldn't slip up too much, or she would let the pride down.

"Not tired already, I hope?" Kasi asked calmly, her voice not hostile but not overly friendly either, though her mouth was pulled into a crooked smile.

She was obviously enjoying herself as she bounced forward, paw aimed for the female's chest this time.

"Not likely." Kirimi responded, her voice as cool as her attitude. Even though this was her third duel, second officially, she was calmer than with the other two. Even after she was swiped on the chest. She didn't flinch, just broke stride to keep her balance.

She wasn't as desperate this time to win; even if it did look poorly on her for having lost so many times. She was feeding off Kasi's positive energy, and found herself enjoying the duel as well. With a roll of her neck, she lunged forward, snapping her fangs at the other's leg.

Kasi grinned as the female responded, and the attack was a welcomed one, though Kasi stepped backwards to avoid the snapping teeth. It was a good attack though, and had it connected would have knocked her off balance. Good! She was trying now, at least.

Kasi couldn't stand duelling people who didn't even try.

She swung her paw, aiming for the rogue's face, though careful with her claws and where she hit. She wouldn't want to mortally injure the female, after all, it was just a duel. Some lions were more aggressive with Rogues, but there was no use killing a prospective member of the pride during one of these duels.

Kirimi hadn't been quick enough to shift from disappointment at not having caught the female to blocking her attack. It hit her, smacked her with enough force to make her stumble.

To her, it didn't matter how many times she was beaten. How many times she was hurt, bruised, clawed, or mauled. This female was just another in a long line of fighters destined to keep her on her toes in this place, and to test her worth. Just another in a long ling of souls standing between her, and the male she'd travelled so far to see.

She was able to just grin, snake her way up to the female with a speed that surprised even her, and snape at her neck.

Kasi jerked back, not expecting the sudden attack at her neck, and stumbled backwards to avoid it. She missed the female's teeth only by a few centimetres, thankfully and she blinked, surprised at the female's ferociousness. Well! She'd fit in well, but Kasi wasn't about to back down and let her in without a good, solid fight.

Kasi smirked. "You're waking up a bit, it seems," she taunted lightly. Kasi was terrible at teasing people, they always came out as taunts, even if she didn't meant them that cruelly.

Still, ruffling the female's feathers a bit wouldn't hurt the fight any. Kasi circled her opponent slowly, making no move to attack...yet.

Kirimi gave a curt, slightly sadistic laugh, that was followed by the closest thing she had to an arrogant grin. She couldn't think of a thing to say, though, so she decided to let her actions speak for her. Gods, if only they could think of something to say as well!

If it was one thing that Kirimi hated was being circled. The action itself disoriented her, and reminded her of the feeling of helplessness that consumed her during her visions. However, after years of battling it, she was able to concentrate and wait until her opponent was close enough to try to head butt her.

The attack was expected, though the type was surprising. Headbutting. Mildly juvenile, Kasi thought, avoiding it with a few sharp side steps. Since the female's head was down for the headbutt, Kasi swiped her paws at the female's legs, hoping to disorientate and knock her over. She felt her claws connect her the rogue's legs.

Kasi stepped back, eyeing the female. "You've lost," She said calmly, offering a tight, short smile. "Leave now." Of course, she didn't have to leave completely, just leave the pridal lands.

She glanced at the rogue, before moving away. She had potential, she just had to act quicker, and act smarter, or she was never going to win a duel.

Kirimi toppled onto the sand with a tired grunt. Neither her body or her spirit was ready to move for a while, not after what the other female had said. Of course, Kirimi knew she didn’t mean permanently, but it hurt never the less. It served as another reminder that she would have to repeat this process for a third time, and by now he would have heard all about her.

Taking a deep breath, she righted herself as best she could, ignoring the stinging ache in her legs, the blood dripping onto the sand at her paws, and maneuvered her way back to the rogue lands.
