The sun caught in Elda's eyes and turned them molten as she descended down towards the training grounds. Above, a few clouds had gathered, casting strange shadows across the desert so that in some places it gleamed and in others it looked grey and dead. The clouds cast a shifting temperature across her back, too, changing between uncomfortable heat to a slightly more tolerable temperature.
To say that she was excited about being proclaimed a fully-fledged soldier was not quite factual. There was excitement there, of course, but something else too. Something that rather resemble sadness. Her time being tutored by the corporal had been a great joy for Elda. She had learned so much, her skills honed into something far greater than anything she could have imagined. If she could have, she would have chosen to remain an apprentice a little longer just so that she wouldn't be without the female she had come to idolise. But alas, she was fully grown now and Seide had done all that she could to prepare her for this moment. After today her learning was in her own paws. She'd have to continue on alone...
All in all, the female had not changed much over these past months. She was older and stronger but she was still modest and still lacked ambition. To become a soldier was all she had ever wanted and to see beyond that was something she could not imagine. She loved to follow orders, to complete tasks set by her superiors. The joy of being a part of something so much bigger; one soldier amongst many. It gave her such happiness that why would she consider trying to rise the ranks any higher?
All she wanted was to make Seide proud. And she had done that...hadn't she? Elda hoped so, at least.
By this time she had moved down into the training grounds and was picking her way amongst the others already there. Her gaze swept to find her teacher, making the assumption that the corporal would already be there waiting.

Kimaria Sorry for taking so darn long! School snatched me up.
The last few weeks, the Corporal had worked Elda to her fullest. There had been little doubt in her mind, especially these last full days, that Elda was ready to leave an apprenticeship, and become a full-fledged soldier. As a student, she did not always pick things up fast, but she always tried hard even if she was frustrated. Seide had found her ideal to teach, and she did not expect to get such a talented apprentice any time soon.
It was hard to determine whether to smile, or keep her same, neutral face. Seide had no time to decide, for she clearly spotted the strong, muscled form of a well-grown young lioness make her way into the training grounds. Moto'Seide rose and approached.
"Are you ready?" she asked when she stopped just before the lioness. She'd decided to go with an ever-so-slight smile.
To Seide's knowledge, there was no huge celebration or large achievement movement for incoming soldiers. By now, they knew the ropes, and were slowly indoctrinated in. Each mentor, however, might have their own celebration, and Seide had her own sort of farewell ceremony planned for Elda.
Simple, but, that was fitting.
"We're going to go on a walk, around our inner borders."

Kaelyndra That's no worries. There's never any rush!
She thought little of the drought around them. Little of this talk of monsters. All Elda knew was that she was a soldier and she would dedicate her life to serving and fighting for her brethren. It was all she had ever wanted and today, at last, she would get her wish.
When she answered, her voice was rough from lack of use. "I am ready, sir." She added a short nod to the reply and turned to stand beside the corporal. "I have learnt much from your teachings. I will do my best to make you proud."
A female of few words, she turned her eyes expectantly out towards the borders and felt the bite of excitement and sadness. She was fully grown now. Expected to teach rather than to be taught. But she was not alone, of course, not now. She was one part of something much bigger. She had brothers and sisters who were as much family to her as those who shared her blood.
"You have only to lead. I will follow."
