The sun was at its zenith and Fari was looking ragged. What with the water crisis and his bulky black fur, he could find absolutely no retreat from the sapping powers that the sun had control of. He had even meditated for many days to try and fix his problem, but it never truly helped, he just felt dehydrated and agitated afterword. Perhaps he needed to get his mind off of the subject?
Pulling his body up so it looked more presentable, the white maned lion moved forward, back to the central pride area. How he dreaded to encounter more of his kin with even worse attitudes than his own, but it had to be done. He was too... aloof and it was starting to become a real problem.
Scanning the desert sands with steel blue eyes, Fari came across something in the distance. Was it another lion... or was it... No. That was a large, lone wildebeest. Frowning with confusion, the firekin watched the animal, waiting to see if it did anything that could possibly give him an answer as to why it was there.
And there it came. Faster than lightening, a eagle dropped from the air and struck the creature, then flew off. It's laughing squawks dancing in the air while the already tired and exhausted creature stumbled further away.
Dinner, perhaps? He liked that idea. The creatures blood would be a treat for his dry throat, and he could always haul the rest back to the pride. Crouching low to the sands, Fari slowly followed the animal, periodically checking the skies in case the strange eagle decided to attack him as well. No signs, where in the world did it go?

Spaki was, as far as things went, a relatively fortunate lion. He was mostly white, with only two dark red stripes on his leg, a small marking on his shoulder and face, and a dark mane. But the mane didn't even bother much, because it was long, and so the heat somehow had a harder time penetrating. So when he came across Fari, one could say he was in a somewhat better condition.
That, and he also had been wandering for less time, seeing as Fariwuta was coming back, and Spaki was on his way out, so to speak. But truly, it wasn't right to act as if the white lion had just stumbled upon the other, since he could quite easily see the other firekin from a distance. Normally he wouldn't even consider changing his route, but there was indeed something else very interesting going on.
A wildebeest, out in the desert? Now that was a strange thing. Moto'Spaki also managed to catch a glimpse of the eagle before it vanished, and this was very strange.
But, like the darker lion, something did cross his mind. Food. He wasn't really hungry, so to speak, but... Well, it was a wildebeest. He'd been a hunter since his adolescence, a few years ago already, and had rarely stumbled upon such a thing. Besides, they were sometimes a little annoying to catch. So Spaki slid down the dune he had climbed up on, then headed for the other firekin. As he approached, an idea crossed his mind.
"If you time the attack right, you might be able to get the wildebeest and the eagle." Said Spaki, instead of a proper greeting. Eagles were more irritating to kill, what with those gigantic, flapping wings. But as far as birds went, they were large, and so also made pretty good meals.

Glancing back at the sound of sand rushing forward, Fari eyed Spaki. How long had he been there? It wasn't often another kinsmen snuck up on him like this one had. Noting it, he decided he would have to train harder so this wouldn't happen again. However, he did pick himself to better assess the white lion and greet him. There was no such chance for that though, as his companion had other goals in mind. Similar goals at that. He liked that.
"Sounds like a challenge I am willing to accept." However finding that damned bird would be another story in and of itself, considering he only saw it once. Where had it found this beast anyway, and how long had it been going at its attack?
Waiting for the white lion to catch up to him, Fari glanced back at his target, then to Spaki. "Faiwuta, by the way." All that was needed to be said in his opinion. They were companions with similar goals, idle chit chat could wait. Or never come. He didn't care.
It was while he was exchanging his name that the same bird that had been attacking the wildebeest decided to dive at Fari himself. Launching himself to the ground then rolling forward towards Spaki, Fari readied himself to attack the daredevil bird. Missing it as he turned to face it.
It was cackling at him, amused it could make such a larger lion run away like that. However, it didn't want to loose the prize it had been working so hard to get by a bigger creature. Flying higher then they could jump, the eagle crowed down at them. "Yees can ******** off! Mine! Else Iss get yous!"

"Moto'spaki." He supplied his name, though, like Fariwuta, found any more unnecessary. All they had to do was work together and bring back both an eagle and a wildebeest to the pride. And maybe snack a bit themselves, which would probably be nice.
He hadn't been expecting the other lion to get dive bombed by the eagle they wanted to catch, though, and so didn't manage to react quickly enough to bat it out of the air. He also hesitated because he might have just fallen on top of Fariwuta in the attempt. Moto'spaki frowned, looking up at the eagle, tail swishing behind him. "Rude bird." He observed.
"Very well." He turned his head to look at the wildebeest, still trying to make its way through the sand. Didn't seem to enjoy that much. They should go for the wildebeest first, the feather-brain up there would probably get mad, and come down for another attack. Then they could get him. Spaki glanced at Fari, wondering if he'd get the same idea.

"Agreed"
Fari glared up at the bird but made no attempt to attack. There was no point in trying to fight something that was obviously unobtainable at the present time. Perhaps if they attacked the wildebeest it would attack them again? Or at least fly away and leave them in peace. He would be lying if he said he would prefer for it to fly away though.
"How would you like to do this? Flanking perhaps?"
He steadily moved his body closer to the now panting and sluggish Wildebeest. The thought of the liquid copper of its blood making his mouth water slightly. This would be well worth it. However he would make sure to get his own bit of snack first before taking the rest to the pride.
Above them both, the squawking of the obnoxious bird grew louder, then suddenly died down as it flew over to peck at the herbivore again. What would that bird even do with the whole animal, anyway? Fari had not a clue, and could only chalk it up to being both gluttonous and greedy.

"That should do it." Moto'spaki said, seemingly forgetting about the bird. As Fari began to head towards the wildebeest, he did as well, but at a quicker pace and giving it a wider beth. Outrunning the creature shouldn't be an issue, really. It was in strange terrain, exhausted, and a little injured. But the less of a chase here in the desert, the better.
Spaki's intention was to either scare it in Fari's direction, or catch it in case the other lion thought to do the same, and scare it towards him instead. He occasionally glanced up to make sure the big stupid bird wasn't coming at him, though. He hardly wanted to get pecked, or any of those nasty looking talons in his eyes. The white lion also had in mind that he should be ready to attack the bird if it came down while he was close enough.
Once he felt he was in a good enough position, he glanced at the other male, trying to get a read on what he wished to do next.
