Teketeza methodically made his way around the various injured Firekin, attempting to gather any information that may be useful. Having calmed down considerably however, he found himself unable to address the injured without getting wound up all over again. As a result, he soon realised that information gathering was no his strong point.
It seemed that some Firekin were even holding back, perhaps wishing to speak to the Regents before anyone else, as they were rightly the ones who needed to know what was what before anyone else. As he considered this, he heard his name being called. When he realised who it was that called him, he blinked, somewhat in surprise. It was Kidondo.
"Regent Kidondo, Sir." He said as he quickly approached the Regent. "Whatever you need me to do, I'll do it."
~~~
Ukuba was just about to answer Thabiti when Tswana spoke up. The dark red lion considered what she said for a moment, as she did have a point. Their arrival may well have changed things though. Whatever Roho's and Nawvlee's status within the Pride was, the events that followed their own arrival could've affected that.
"I kaor sros uir orreqor cuird roqa dokosad vros koae roqa orraodae baam o qarae krosera orreomca." I fear that our arrival could have damaged what may have already been a very fragile alliance. He answered finally. From what he had seen, the Firekin just didn't seem the type to welcome strangers with open paws. If their arrival really had made problems for the Hongshan that were already here, it would be awful. He looked at his brother, the Hongshan who he cared about more than any other. Although his brother was more than strong enough to protect himself, Ukuba couldn't help but worry about him, and all the other Hongshan.
"Moaeba cukems rara vok o risa keksoda." Maybe coming here was a huge mistake.
The look on her face might have been dreadful, but No nodded in agreement with Kidondo's decision. They would discover what was going on here, and with haste. If this had been an attempt at disrupting their forces, it was clear this other 'pride' had no idea what they were dealing with.
Her nose crinkled, and she moved to address the Hongshan that lingered to see the interrogation. Her words echoed with a threatening clarity. "We have offered the Hongshan an allegiance within our pride. Do not mistake. If a force gathers upon you it will be dealt with. But our alliegence ends the moment that secrets are kept. Any information you have will be given."
Satisfied with leaving it at that, she turned from the group. There was still disarray on the other side of the pride, and it needed attention. But as she moved by, she gave a particularly frigid look to Elcca. It was hard to say if it was for the interruption, or depriving her of a proper scapegoat.
The red lioness didn't seem moved by it. She nodded appreciatively to Kidondo's assignment, and moved over by the Hongshan like a child who'd just received a new toy. It seemed she'd found what she was after... but as for the lion she'd just got done sparing, Miah hardly seemed to blink. Still detatched, like a ghost in between them all.
Nawvlee was silent and unmoving as everything unfolded around him. He saw no reason at all to trust Miah but the interruption by the strange red lioness threw everybody off. As soon as Elcca intervened, his eyes went to her and they did not move until Kidondo spoke to him.
He nodded, grateful he was being allowed to interview the Hongshan himself. His eyes moved to No as she verbalized the precarious situation the Hongshan were now in. There was no reason the Firekin should be disappointed by the Hongshan: Nawvlee put the remnants of the red mountain pride first, but he would not stand for traitors any more than the Firekin. And the Hongshan would expect nothing less.
And then Elcca joined him and his attention was drawn back to her. He had paid her little direct attention before, though he was aware of her presence-- and that she could speak both in common and Northern tongue. Her successful call to put all the new arrivals under equal questioning served only to make him more suspicious. If he had his way, no Northerns that were unfamiliar to him would be trusted.
His mouth opened like he might speak to her but it closed again and he turned to go meet the Hongshan.
It was nice to see things were starting to get somewhat more organized, considering how irritated Kalama had been about the way the pride had reacted too all the... excitement for the day. She bet that someone, somewhere, would find this all very amusing, and that was just terribly hard to swallow.
When Kidondo addressed her, she nodded. "Yes, sir." Kalama took a few steps toward him and his daughter, only to stand beside them and get ready to move off once they did.
Yayuka perked his ears as a white lion approached him. Or, well, he perked one ear, and what was left of the other one kind of popped up. Sort of. It more just flicked lamely. Though he really would rather not move, the gray lion felt it would be best if he did as told, so obediently headed over to where he was indicated.
He felt like he had a long recovery ahead of him.
Tswana nodded a bit sadly at Ukuba's words. It seemed they had gotten in trouble, or gotten the other Hongshan in trouble. The latter seemed worse. "Wros crueca ded va roqa?" What choice did we have? She asked, curling her tail around her paws. It had been either the Nergui, or this. And the Nergui weren't that great an option, really. Perhaps death, which she may have been well on her way to with her refusal to eat, but...
Movement caught her eye, and she turned to see the more lions beginning to appear in their line of sight. "Traae ora cukems." They are coming. She managed to recognize the familiar form of Nawvlee, and may have felt optimistic about that. But none of the lions that approached seemed too pleased... except maybe for Elcca.
Tswana just had a strong feeling that this was far from over. Somewhere beside her, Sjari just knew it wasn't. Because he knew a lot of things, and none of it was very pleasant.
"Don't disgrace Morag with your belly aching." Ali grunted. If it were he laying out in the sands he'd rather die with dignity, if things were that grave, than have his family see him off with constant coddling. To survive with that hanging on his heels would be miserable. No doubt Morag would rather recover with some dignity.
Regarding Kenna he snorted and gave a shake of his head. "She has her own affairs, her own family, her own ambitions. She's been distant for years. Once she obtained her own position within the pride, I believe she started working for her own means. Family be damned. She made that obvious to father when she took the mate she did. Let her play Simo, we have enough of our own troubles."
Ali's ears flattened and his expression tightened. "First thing's first, we need to drive off whomever is pressing our borders. Disagree with the others as we might, a threat to the border is a threat to us all. Two of our own lay wounded now. We will not sit down on the sidelines while this transpires."
((@Mims: XD Yar we know. She's been ICily distant before dfa's hiatus. At least to her brothers/father's side.))
((Now that I'm back gonna throw in one more post for Azar <3))
Azar listened carefully to the back and forth between her father and the other lions. This was an interesting situation that was for sure. She occasionally glanced at her mother to see her reaction. Azar really had no clue what to think, yet she knew one thing was for sure and that was that she was furious. There was enough problems going on with the shortage of water, and now all of this. Most of all some one hurt her son and she wanted to hunt them down and give them a taste of what they had done. The lioness hadn't bee this firey since she was younger. But now she was ready to take on what ever she had to and what ever was going to come her way, and then some. There was something to get to the bottom to.
She was almost half day dreaming in her thoughts as the voice of her father caught her attention. Her ears perked and she turned toward the male and nodded. "Yes sir." She answered. It wasn't exactly a command but she wanted to acknowledge what she was going to be doing. She was to be on the borders. She was so ready to take this on. She was hoping to find whoever was at the bottom of all of this.
"Wa rod mu crueca." We had no choice. Ukuba replied rather grimly. Obviously anything would be better than the Nergui, but at this point, he wasn't sure by how much. They could just as easily be enslaved here as they were with the Nergui. Although, he had to admit, the Firekin didn't seem anywhere near as brutal or brainless in the way they conducted themselves. Also, the Nergui were without mercy. If Miah ended up being returned to them, that would show a great deal of mercy on the Firekin's part.
When Tswana mentioned that someone was coming, Ukuba let out a small sigh of relief as soon as he spotted Nawvlee. It soon became apparent however, from the expressions on the faces of the Firekin and their collective body language, that they were frustrated. Miah must've been acting as cryptic as ever, which meant that Ukuba and his fellow Hongshan were now most likely in the firing line.
Ukuba stepped to the front of the group, as he was the one who had the best grasp of the 'common' tongue that the Firekin used, as far as he was aware. He opened his mouth to ask if Miah had revealed anything to them, but promptly closed it, as he figured that the Hongshan were most likely in no position to ask questions themselves.
Satisfied, Kidondo found a great sense of calm in throwing himself back into duty. The wounded were being tended to. The initial panic was dulling down. Now they just needed to focus on getting some answers from the strange lion and the Nergui he had led to the lands. That and bolstering their defences, of course. He fully trusted in Nawvlee to get to the bottom of the situation and No's threat could not be dismissed by those who had heard it. Her threats were never to be taken lightly.
He nodded in thanks to Kalama and Azar before turning to address, the grey lion, Teketeza, thankful that he had still been close by. "Glad to hear it." He replied. "I'm looking to co-ordinate a stronger defence around our territory - to get messages sent to those already out on patrol and to gather recruits to strengthen their numbers." He moved as he spoke, clearly set on getting things done straight away. "I could use someone like you to aid in recruiting the help we need and accompanying them to the outposts to make sure an accurate account is given. I don't want any rumours spiralling out of control and worrying those already out there." He may have been quite different from Teketeza, but the younger male had a great spirit and an authoritative air about him that had to be respected. He was a lion that would be listened to and that was a good trait.
Then with a short nod, and a brief glance at No, he hastened across the sands; past Roho, who had dropped back to allow Nawvlee to speak with Miah. The normally stoic, strong female was looking rather deflated and afraid - particularly due to No's threat. She dipped her head as Kidondo passed and uttered a quiet 'sir' of acknowledgement.
Kidondo paused and gave her a nod and then moved on, lifting his voice to rally the troops as he went.
( exclaim We're looking to set up an RP for Nawvlee to question the Hongshan, if any of you Hongshan owners are interested! It should be up fairly soon in the subforum. )
(( Just finishing off! ))
As Kidondo walked whilst giving orders, Teketeza walked alongside him, commiting every single word to memory. When the Regent was done, the hulking grey male bowed his head firmly. "Understood." With that, he quickly bounded off in the direction of the main part of the Pride.
As soon as he had gathered some of the Soldiers, and perhaps some of the Guards, together, they could head out towards the nearest outpost. Once there, some could be left behind whilst the rest moved on to the next outpost, and so on. Once he was done, he would return to Kidondo to inform him, before heading back out to whichever outpost needed him the most. Teketeza was determined to do a good job. Not just for the Regents and the Pride, but for himself. Although the fire within him did not need taming, this was just the kind of responsibility and focus that he needed, as all the anger and discontent he had been feeling over what had happened to his sister had now been transformed into determination. Whoever had hurt his family and his Pride were going to pay, and he was going to help make that happen.
