At the training area, Kalama was ready for another duel. She'd been rather in the mood for them lately, seeing as they were pretty fun, and she appeared to be on a winning streak. She didn't discriminate on who she called for the task today, but, ended up choosing a rogue once again, slightly disappointing. One of these days she would have to end up with another firekin.
"You," Kalama summoned him over to the 'arena'. "Yayuyuyyaka. Whatever." She had never quite caught his name, didn't honestly care. Besides, perhaps being so overly rude would unnerve him. She felt liked unnerving people today. "Come on, we're dueling."

The gray lion hadn't even intended to duel today, even though he knew that just by being around he might get called upon to do just that. Really he'd been hoping to just watch today, learn a bit from the other firekin when they dueled.
But when Yayuka was called over, he was too proud to refuse. And even a little angry at her apparently deliberate mispronunciation of his name. He frowned, but didn't correct her, to not appear like an irritable little cub. "Alright." He said, entering the fighting area and facing the red lioness. "You start." She already had started it, in some ways.

Kalama's tactic to start a fight, at least this time, was rather straight forward. She found sometimes that worked well, because some lions seemed to expect theatrics, not just charging like a bull. She could do fancy stuff in the heat of battle, but right now let's just get this started.
So she ran at Yayuka and leaped at him, paws outstretched. Soon enough, she had tackled him to the floor,

She had been right, because Yayuka had indeed expected something more fancy. He was completely bowled over by the larger lion, and grunted as he hit the floor, her paws on him. He growled and swung a paw up at her face, but found only air.
Still, as she flinched away from his swiping paw, he found he had enough wriggle room to escape, and hurried away from his attacked. Damn, this wasn't a good way to start a fight.

She growled as the paw came flying at her, but pulled her face away quickly enough to avoid the blow altogether. Sadly, her avoiding his attack made it possible for the rogue-born to escape her grasp, which was a little inconvenient. With a snarl, Kalama attempted to follow him in his retreat, swinging a paw at his hindquarters but missing entirely.
She didn't even graze a hair on his tail. Slippery rogue!

He heard her growl, and whirled around with his paws ready to smack the lioness in the face, hoping to get her in the middle of her lunge. If she was heading for him, and he was heading for her, certainly his paws would his their mark this time!
... Or not, he mused, as the lioness ducked under Yayuka's swinging paws.

As she managed to avoid yet another of his blows, Kalama smirked. What a stupid rogue. She wondered how he had even won his joining duel. Frankly, the red lioness was disappointed. If a rogue had managed to wiggle itself into her pride, she expected to be great, not kittens missing their blows so stupidly. How would he ever help the pride in the event of a fight?
"That was pathetic, would you like to try again?"

Yayuka scowled at the lioness, settling back onto the floor in a crouch. Despite her taunt, he managed to keep his temper, and didn't lash out. He would plan his next move more carefully, and so, he watched her, trying to find any weaknesses. He needed to hit this lioness, at least once. Preferably, in her face. Because she said stupid things. People who said stupid things deserved a smack in the face.

Seems like the rogue would make her chase him again. Did he not remember that last time that hadn't ended so well for him? Rolling her shoulders, Kalama sunk her claws into the sand, then launched forwards again. This time she let one paw go ahead of the other, and hit the rogue's shoulder, once more knocking him over.
Strangely, though, this time she didn't feel as much resistance. It was like she had hit him, then he helped her and flopped over.

Yes, he had helped her. Yayuka probably could have avoided the blow, if he had wanted to, but in the end decided that he didn't so much want to win this fight, as he wanted to hit this lioness. And to hit someone, you needed to get close. Kalama hit him in the shoulder. and he hit the floor, and now she had her paw in the same spot where she had hit, and stood over him.
That was good enough. The gray lion snarled and twisted beneath her paw, then kicked one of his back paws up. It hit its mark. Right in the big, stupid red lioness' chin.

That explained it. Kalama hadn't expected this kind of move, and with the kick her teeth made a loud sound as they clacked together. It hurt, quite a lot, actually. She reared back, shaking her head and swinging blindly at the male who had done this to her, eyes shut because it felt like she had bitten her tongue.
Kalama fell back, but managed to twist and land, roughly, on her feet, turning her head and snarling at the rogue, a small amount of blood trickling out of the side of her mouth.

He was satisfied his foot hit its mark, and as Kalama fell back he attempted to hit her once again with a paw. Sadly, her falling back and flailing paws did make him miss, and he danced away frustrated. The fight was over, and he hadn't exactly done well. Still, as he stepped away from his opponent, he smiled, and stood a little taller. His face somehow brightened up even more, amused, when he saw that she had bitten her tongue. Deserved that!
Still, now outside of a fight, he figured he held no ill-will towards Kalama. He was a godo sport, after all, and most of the time only hated his opponents during a fight, not so much after.
Besides, at least he'd done something right. "Thank you for the duel. I have learned a lot." He said politely, perhaps a little smugly, then turned and left. He didn't want to hang around this female much longer.
Results!
Kalama: 3 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 1 = 10 Yayuka: 1 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 1 = 8
Conclusion -> Kalama wins. Yayuka FAILS.
