After his admittedly not-so-great duel with Kalama, Yayuka had decided he needed to get into the dueling game more. In fact, even when he had joined the pride, he had only been able to because the duel ended in a tie. He had never actually won a duel against a firekin! And that just seemed... well, sad.
So he had asked a lion to duel him. The lion was called Moto'spaki, and, like most other cats in this pride, was larger than Yayuka. But the gray male didn't let himself be bothered by that. And Moto'spaki wasn't irksome, like Kalama had been, so he figured that no matter what happened in this duel, things wouldn't end out too badly. It would be a good duel, and he would try his best. It could work, or it could not work!

He wasn't typically interested in such things, Moto'spaki was a quieter firekin. This wasn't because he was shy, rather, he was just... well. He felt separated somehow, disconnected.
In the end, however, he was one of the Blood. He had been born in the desert years ago, before the firekin had even split, and become what they were today. He was just as proud as any other of the cats in the pride, and, though he didn't really know it yet, also just as ambitious. In some ways, it was like Moto'spaki was asleep, but not right now. He had been challenged to a duel, and the white lion was wide awake.
"I am ready." He said, standing across from Yayuka, tail swaying slowly behind him.

Frankly, Yayuka hated starting duels. Really, he did. It felt silly, running at someone who knew you were going to attack them. Still, he had challenged Moto'spaki, and it was fair enough that he should deliver the first blow. And so he did.
It was all pretty straight-forward from now on. This was a fight. They were supposed to hit each other. So the first matter of affairs was to get closer to Moto'spaki. The second matter was, of course, hitting him. Rearing slightly and raising his front paws, Yayuka did just that, aiming for the face (politely maintaining his claws sheathed.)

In a real fight, that paw would probably have never touched him. At least, not with an approach like that. Sure, in the heat of a battle, Moto'spaki would get a couple hits. But as even Yayuka had mulled over, attacking someone who expected it was silly.
But still, the paw came into contact with the side of his face, and though it sounded corny, the white lion had intended to allow it. Simple enough, he wanted to see how strong his opponent was.
And the blow did hurt, truly, and Moto'spaki even staggered to the side briefly, but elegantly turned the stagger into a crouch. "You can probably do better, try again." It wasn't a taunt. Yayuka sought improvement, and he might as well give him some pointers. For the good of the pride, and all.

He was pleased that the first blow had hit, though not entirely convinced it was based only on his 'skill' in a fight. He perked his ears at his opponents words, and felt irrationally irritated. He wouldn't be irritated for long, of course, but now Yayuka was in 'fight-mode'. In 'fight-mode', probably any talking might irritate him, and maybe later he would realize that wasn't too good for him.
Heck, he even realized that a bit now. "Fine." He said, and launched himself at Spaki once again. It should have been better this time, his opponent was much closer, but... Instead of landing on fur and skin, his paws hit the sand.
Oops.

"Not what a meant." Spaki mumbled as he avoided the attack, sliding out of the way. "This is what I mean." Now he said it more loudly, as he threw himself against the other male. This fight had started now. Since Yayuka took a bit long to recover from his miss (something Spaki might point out later), the hit was easy enough, and the white lion felt his shoulder connect with the other male's side, bowling him over.
Which was, of course, a good opportunity to pin him down with his paws. Come on, when you have a chance to pin someone, you do it.

He wheezed, landing on the floor with a grunt and a growl. Damn, that hadn't been very good. He needed to fix this. But before Yayuka could properly get to his paws, Moto'spaki was on top of him. And to be frank, the white lion weighed a lot more than he did. He found that, perhaps he had asked Moto'spaki for a duel because he was quiet, and somehow that had made it seemed like this would be easier.
This blow alone was kind of making him think... um, no.
But Yayuka wasn't ready to throw the battle just yet. With a snarl, he twisted, kicking up with his hind legs and hitting the other lion hard in the stomach. Fortunately it seemed enough to get the white male off of him, and he took the opportunity to roll back on his feet. Once up, he whirled to attack once again.

Yayuka's face met with Spaki's paw. After having been thrown off, the white lion recovered quickly, but not enough to keep his opponent from standing. When the gray male stood, however, he was facing the wrong way, and, predictably, would have to turn around.
So Moto'spaki acted accordingly, rushing back in and swinging with his paw, timing it so that it would meet with Yayuka just as the her spun around.

He roared in frustration, and pain, as the paw came in contact with his jaw, stumbling slightly to the side. But he was definitely getting better as he went, and recovered quickly enough from the blow. Yayuka immediately lunged forwards towards Moto'spaki, intending to do just what the other had done to him. A paw t the face! That was all he wated to inflict on his opponent.
He felt satisfying contact, but it didn't really feel like a face he hit. More like shoulders. Once he realized that, he raised his other paw to clasp it on he other, intending to keep Spaki from running off before he could hit him again.

Okay, that was better. Yayuka had reacted more quickly this time, which was good for him. Not so much good for Moto'spaki, who now had the lion latched on to his shoulders, and they were face to face, growling at each other. Usually, when your opponent had you trapped like this it wasn't a good thing, as it made it easier for them to strike you in the face.
This, of course, went both ways. Even though the way Yayuka's paws were positioned on his shoulders kept Moto'spaki from raising his own paws, he wasn't deterred.
He just used his head.

It had seemed a good idea at the time, getting up close to Spaki, so he could then bite him, or hit him in the head, or something. They were both rearing on their hind paws now, but Moto'spaki wouldn't have been able to hit him.
Or so Yayuka thought. Because one moment he was looking up at the white lion's face, preparing to strike it, and next the face was getting a whole lot closer. And it was coming fast. The next thing Yayuka knew, Moto'spaki was out of his grasp and his head hurt. A lot. In fact, he could barely even see. Scratch that, he could see. Stars, specifically.
Still, instinct urged him forwards, and he continued in the direction he thought Moto'spaki was, throwing out his paws, hoping to his the lion once more.

The bad thing about headbutting someone is it went both ways, and even Spaki felt quite a bit of pain. But perhaps because he had dealt the blow himself, and, as such, had been prepared for it, the pain was duller, like a headache you know would come back later, with a vengeance.
But he was good enough to finish the fight, if a bit grumpy now, because he had been forced to hurt himself. Fortunately, Yayuka seemed to be way worse than him, and it was almost funny how the gray lion came at him, obviously not knowing exactly where he hoped to hit. Moto'spaki was actually impressed he had attacked in the right direction.
The blows were easy to avoid, and Moto'spaki simply ducked under the oncoming attack, then pushed upwards. And Yayuka hit the floor once more, only this time he took a bit more time to stand. He didn't even try immediately. Probably knew the fight was over.
"You did well," Moto'spaki said with a sigh. Yes, it had indeed been an interesting fight. "Need some more practice, though. Once your head feels better, I can give you more pointers." Hopefully, the white lion's headache would be gone before Yayuka's, because he certainly wouldn't want to deal with him if his head was hurting.
With a nod to the gray lion on the floor, Spaki turned and left, intending to find a place to rest.
Results!
Yayuka: 3 + 1 + 3 + 3 + 1 = 11 Moto'spaki: 2 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 14
Conclusion -> Moto'spaki wins.
