Tetemeko had always been good at being where he was needed, it was part of what made him such a good guard. Sometimes it seemed like trouble found him but often enough, he found trouble. He didn't know why he wandered so near to the central land of the pride, not giving it any thought at all as he wandered absently-- until he heard a crash. Immediately he knew it was a shrine, and a heavy one at that. His steps hesitated long enough to orient himself before he took off at a jog to investigate.

Obi was a mess. He was fleeing the scene of his crime, leaving his dumbfounded brother behind.. but he just didn't want to get into any trouble. He broke a shrine. That was serious. He wasn't given much time to dwell, glancing over his shoulder he looked back up just in time to spot his father hurrying towards him. He scrambled to stop but he was going too fast, running directly into Tetemeko before crashing to the ground, tangled in his own feet.

"Dad!"

He was in trouble. So much trouble.

It was lucky for both father and son that Tete spotted Obi coming long before Obi spotted him. He pushed himself to a stop but it didn't mean anything when the adolescent still ran right into him. He was hit with a surprising force, considering the size of his son, and while his legs buckled he managed to stay on his fee.

"Obi!" he said, sounding surprised, "What was that crash?"

Tetemeko didn't need to be a seer to know a crash followed so closely by a fleeing adolescent was no coincidence. Not to mention it was one of his own sons.

"Uhhh.." Obi stammered, staring up at his dad with wide eyes, trying to think of something to say but not even able to spit out an 'I don't know.'

Sighing mentally, Tete moved forward and nudged Obi to get him back up and moving again. He would have to investigate and he would take his son with him.

"Get up and come with me," he said.

Tama had been too blown away by the fact that his brother had run away. Tama felt the urge to run with him, and his body had even swayed in the motion to follow him, but after a step or two he halted. Wouldn't running away just make things worse? He wasn't ready to face his parents over the fact that the two of them had broken a shrine, but he felt that his mother and father would be more disappointed if they had run.

It was a really sucky position to be in, but he never imagined that the shrine's keeper would be nearby close enough to hear the bang.

Yuuta's stomach nearly leaped out of his mouth. He knew that his shrine was nearby, and he had the horrible feeling that it was his. A growl emitted from his mouth as he left his herb gathering where it was, as he had wanted to make the perfect gathering of living herbs near the shrine. Now....he was going to have to start over.

Tama thought he heard voices, but his eyes went wide with fright and guilt when he saw the silver leopard approaching the shrine, disappointment glittering his eyes.

"What is this?" Yuuta asked, knowing immediately that this was the son of Salma. Regardless of how he wanted to punish the guilty party, he knew that Salma would be more heartless than he. Her own son!

"The shrine broke, sir," Tama replied obediently, bowing in respect to the keeper. What else was he supposed to say? "I....I am so sorry!"

When they were close enough to the shrine to hear voices, Tetemeko stumbled. He could hear Tama and immediately he put the pieces together. He wasn't yet positive who was the main guilty party but he certainly suspected Obi most, he had run. And left his brother there.

He glanced back to Obi, frowning at him and picking up the pace to interrupt.

"Tama," he said, coming up to where the shrine lay. It was amazing they hadn't been hurt, considering how reckless they had to be to knock over something like this. His voice was serious and he hated it.

Obi had reluctantly pushed himself back up and dragged his feet after his father-- and he heard Tama apologize too. He cowered under the glare of his father and continued after him as he intervened, though still going at a slower pace. He didn't want to face this, that was why he had run! Now he was caught and Tama would be even madder at him for leaving and letting him get caught alone.

He didn't say anything, just stood a small way behind his father, looking guilty. He looked at Yuuta, almost curiously, but he looked away quickly, not wanting to catch the shrinekeeper's eye.

Tama's ears flattened against his skull when he heard his father's voice, his head slowly turning towards him. Well, now the firestorm of what they had done was about to rain down on them. Stupid Obi, Tama thought, frustrated that his brother hadn't really listened to him. Tama should have done more, though, and that's what made him part of the guilty party.

"Hello, Tetemeko," Yuuta said, nodding to the adult lion, the father of these two boys, who were probably about to be skinned alive. At least they'd prefer it that way. Instead of starting the conversation with how disappointed and upset he was about his broken shrine, he decided to see how father and sons played it out. He would merely be here as a witness to this 'trial' of sorts.

"Dad..." Tama said, stumbling over his own mouth in trying to figure out what to say. "I...Obi....I....I'm sorry."

"Yuuta," he said tiredly, offering some form of greeting before getting right down to business. He looked from Yuuta to Tama and then to Obi as Tama stammered an apology. He sighed.

"Obi," he said seriously, it was obvious he meant now was the time to stop hiding and explain. He looked at Obi expectantly.

Obi refused to look at anybody until he heard his father's voice, then he looked up. He took a breath and slowly went over to stand with Tama. He would defend Tama now that they were caught but he didn't know where exactly to start.

"What happened, boys?"

Tete looked at the pair of them. Under normal circumstances he might have saved explanations and punishment for private but the leopard was very involved- it was his shrine that was ruined.

Only able to take so much staring, Obi finally seemed to snap and blurted out defensively, "It was an accident!"

Yuuta tried hard to not smile when he saw the paler one, Obi, go stand next to Tama. He seemed confrontational, almost, like he didn't want to get in trouble. Bemused, but doing his best to keep it to himself, he watched the exchange happen before him. He felt that he should be here to see this, if only because now he was going to have to work with Salma to get a new stone, and get everything re-carved.

"It was," Tama said, echoing Obi's comment. He didn't know how much he should say. It was Obi's fault, but it wasn't...how were they going to explain all this? The dark brown lion did his best to not look at his toes, and tried to keep his eyes on his father's. Oh, it was hard, as they had never done this much trouble before.

"Obi...didn't know how strong he was," Tama said, trying to offer up a positive in there somewhere. "We didn't think he'd actually be able to do anything to it."

"What were you trying to do?" Tete asked, wondering at the words Tama chose. How did they ever get into a position where he might knock down a shrine and not stop to think maybe they shouldn't be doing it? It didn't make any sense, and by the looks on their faces, they knew that now.

"I was trying to show Tama that it wouldn't break," Obi responded in a quiet mutter, not wanting to say it too loudly. It was obvious he had screwed up, and that it was a stupid thing to try to do.

"I didn't think that he'd actually be able to break it," Tama tried to say a bit louder than what Obi said. He didn't encourage him, but actually saying that wasn't going to help anything. It would probably just get him more into trouble.

Yuuta shook his head. Knowing that not everything was stable, even when it seemed to be, hopefully the two buys learned their lesson. At least once their father was done with them.

Tete sighed, grateful he managed not to roll his eyes at the ridiculous answers that his sons gave- both of them. You shouldn't tempt fate like that, especially when it's something as important as this- and when it's a stranger's shrine.

"It sounds like both of you realize how stupid that was," he said first, looking back and forth between the two of them, "And you both will help fix this."

He didn't think Tama was as guilty as Obi but he obviously had played a part and they both could use a lesson in dealing with the direct consequences of their actions. He didn't know what exactly their mother would decide about this, either- not bringing it up directly probably helped him. The more scared they were, the more apologetic.

"I will get Salma," he said, looking to Yuuta next, "She will get us organized to get your shrine set back up." Salma would know who was available to help and the sooner she found out about this the better.

Obi frowned, still trying not to look at anybody- especially when his dad said they were both being punished. Now his stupid game got Tama in trouble, it wasn't fair but he wasn't sure he could argue-- not in front of a stranger, anyway. He glanced nervously over at Yuuta and then back very quickly when Tete said he would go to get Salma.

Tama's ears flattened even more against his skull when his father said the word 'stupid'. He didn't want to be considered in that light, but it was true, wasn't it? Tama leaned against Obi, as the two of them seemed to be in equal trouble. Stupid Obi. Stupid Tama. He really should have been more pushy about making Obi stop, but neither one of them actually thought that Obi was that strong.

Now they were just doomed.

Yuuta nodded to Tete. "Finding Salma would be best, I'd like to have my shrine back up and running as soon as possible." He had been gathering things for it, and now many of those things would have to remain unused for a while because of the foolishness of two adolescent boys. "Perhaps these two should find out how much work it is to set a shrine up..."

"Oh, they will," Tete said confidently when Yuuta suggested learning how much work it was- that was why he said they would share responsibility in setting it back up. Of course, two untrained boys couldn't do it all so he couldn't have left it entirely up to them. He turned back to the boys.

"Come with me, we're going to find your mother and explain what happened," he said.

Obi was keeping his head down, trying not to panic about what was going to happen next. As terrible as it was standing here, listening to the beginnings of their punishment, he didn't expect hearing what mom had to say was going to make him feel much better.

"Sorry," he murmured quietly, not to Yuuta or Tetemeko but to Tama.

Tama was honestly more afraid to see his mother than his father in terms of their punishment. There was no getting out of it now, and so he only softly shook his head when Obi apologized to him. Whatever happened, it would happen. He was more worried for Obi than himself, but Tama wasn't about to try an abandon his brother either. "Let's go," was his only reply.

Yuuta watched the three of them leave, mildly satisfied and also a bit worried. Hopefully their punishment wouldn't be too severe, but he would be here, waiting for Salma to approach him and let him know what the plan was.

Well, maybe he'd go visit his brother or something. He had nothing else to do at the moment, and bothering family was always a good thing to do when one had free time!
