Auri was seated primly outside the family's den. This was her last day here as a resident. One would assume she'd be excited or nervous about it, and perhaps she was to some small extent. However, for the most part, she felt very calm and assured. Today her Pad, Pad Aziz, was coming to get her. She was nearly an adult herself now, high time she went to her new home. She was curious about him, not knowing much about the males of the pride, aside from the ones rumored amongst the lionesses to be abusive. Her father would never have let her go to one of those beasts, however, so she was serene about the whole affair.

She wasn't entirely sure what all the fuss was about. She'd seen other females make such a dramatic scene about leaving their childhood homes. It wasn't as if they were leaving the pride, going somewhere far away. Their mothers and siblings would still be available to chat with, confide in, and get advice from. She had full intentions of seeking her own mother out when something came up that she wasn't sure how to handle. For now, though, she felt quite comfortably independant of her family. It was time to leave, and that was all there was to it.

Aziz wasn’t necessarily excited about picking up his third banu. No more than he had been the previous two times he had claimed a female as his own. He had hand picked Auri from the pride, seeing some potential in her. She would make a good addition to his harem. Being the son of her father’s best friend made requesting her easy, and well, he simply had to collect now. Mwezi, had been his first banu, claimed on his banu quest, and Hazina had been his for quite some time, though he had only claimed her after he returned from his quest. She had known his intentions prior to him leaving though, which made things easier.

Auri would add another aspect to his harem, and get him one step closer to the perfect collection. Only the best for the son of the Sultan, yes? He chuckled to himself, smoothing his face into a polite mask as he approached Pad Nav’hian’s den, spying the female herself waiting obediently by the mouth of the den. Good, Aziz thought. She knew her place.

“Greeting, Banu Auri’temsi,” Aziz said as he neared the den, voice a deep rumble, inclining his head slightly in greeting.

Quote:
She watched him coming, patiently remaining seated as he approached. That brought to mind the opposite of the weepy banus leaving their childhood den... then there were those who threw themselves at their new Pads, either out of emotional overflow of gladness, or in an attempt to endear themselves to the male. Both options were distasteful and a rather embarrassing public display of what should rightfully happen inside the den in private. She remained mute until he spoke first, greeting her by the old ways of the pride.

"Greetings Pad Aziz'din," she replied demurely. Her tail was curled neatly around her paws, and her golden fur gleamed with good health and careful grooming. She had endeavored to present herself as the picture of the perfect banu. Her father would have been proud.

She debated speaking further. In some ways it would be improper, as it was best to let the male do all the talking, but she felt it was acceptable in this case. He needed to know she was willing and prepared for this change. "I am ready to come with you, and am honored to be chosen by the Sultan's son to be a dutiful banu to." She bowed her head deeply, lowering her head significantly below his both in gesture of respect and of submissiveness. There she stayed, waiting for his approval or disapproval and permission to rise.

Well, Aziz thought pleased, at least there was no hysteria. As he hadn’t officially met Auri, he had no known how she would take the news of joining his harem, but it was going well. She was not crying, or clinging to her den, nor was she clinging to him. Perfect.

“Good,” he said simply, eying her somewhat critically before telling her bluntly, “I do not approve of using physical force on my Banu unnecessarily, but there will be punishments should you step out of line. I expect perfection in my harem, and I chose you because I thought you would handle the pressure and rise to the occasion – you have potential.” He smiled, sharply but with a certain fondness in his eyes. It was as close to a compliment as he’d pay in those early days of knowing her.

“I expect a lot, Banu Auri’temsi, but you will be justly rewarded for your skills and behaviour.” He eyed her, stepping back and motioning back the way he had come. “Come.” A test. If she balked, or talked back, or shrunk under his admittedly blunt words, then she was not the banu he’d thought, and she would be returned. He had seen potential in her, or he would not have asked her father or her, but potential was all well and good, but he needed perfection.

She listened serenely, and nodded her head in mute agreement to his demands. She expected nothing less than perfection from herself as well, so it seemed a good match to her, though she kept those thoughts to herself. She continued to sit primly and was attentive, though her eyes most of the time were downcast demurely. Meanwhile, she was examining him as much as he was her. She favored his straight-forward manner. Knowing exactly what was expected of her helped her to fulfill those expectations fully. He had a more distant way of interacting with her than she saw in her parents, but they had only just met, so it was right that he hold her at arm's length for a time, at least. She privately hoped he'd be able to be more personable once she'd proven herself to him.

At his command to come, she rose gracefully to her paws and stepped forward. Without being further instructed, she began padding the direction he'd approached from. She didn't know the way entirely, but she trusted that if she did her best under the circumstances, he'd not mistreat her for her ignorance. As she passed him, she smiled faintly and flung him an alluring sideways glance. Yes, it seemed to her that they were well-matched.
