User Image Coelestinus weaved and bobbed as he tried to walk forward with his brother. The lion felt rather odd, lightheaded and bubbly, and why were the plants all fuzzy and moving? He could not for the life of him understand why he felt so different than normal, but there was also that bubbly part of him, the dominant part right now, that was not worried about it and could care less really. Things were good right now, according to it.

The blue lion stumbled over a stick and gave his brother a lopsided grin. "Oopsie, stick there. Kekeke." Coel really could not have told anyone why that was funny, but it was to him and he could not stop giggling for a few minutes. He tripped over his own paw and nearly fell on his face. With a bemused look he picked himself back up and giggled again. "Need to watch ma, paws... kekeke." He very pointedly looked down at his paws and kept watching them as he walked. Even watching them like this, though he still swayed and stumbled.

The problem was a simple one, he had decided to try eating some fruit that looked a little off while his brother ate the small kill they had managed to make. Coel liked fruit and figured that the next kill if it was as small would be his for his brother to settle for something else. A trade off could be made easily. What the blue lion had not figured on was that the fruit was worse than it looked and had started to turn to a fermented state that left him rather tipsy and giddy from eating it.

Takoda sighed for what felt like the millionth time as his brother tripped over what to him, looked like a twig of all things. And then promptly tripped over his own feet only moments afterwards. At this rate, he was going to hurt himself, and Takoda didn't want to see that happen.

"Are you sure you're alright Coel? Maybe you should walk more slowly in addition to watching your paw placement...." He grumbled with worry, walking immediately alongside his inhibited and clumsy footed brother. If he fell again, or started to, he would catch him.

Really... usually his brother wasn't this helpless, and frankly it worried him. What had happened to him all of a sudden? He just couldn't figure it out, and honestly he was beginning to become more than a little worried. Had he poisoned himself some how? He knew certain plants had those properties but he wasn't exactly sure what it was that Coel had eaten while he himself had been dining on the last kill they'd made. He'd found some fruit or other, he had noticed, but his own attention had been on filling his mouth and belly with the tasty rabbit, and he didn't give it much mind. Now he wished he had.

"Coel, are you listening to me? Coel, here, lean on me brother, I don't want you falling down again and hurting yourself." Takoda shouldered up to his brother careful not to knock him over. "Put your paw over my shoulder and I'll help you walk."

User Image Ezili had felt the need for alone time and taken her share of food into the trees. The feel of jungle around her brought her a feeling of peace that was sometimes hard to find in the bustle around the Hometree. Enjoying the feeling of connection as she traveled the highroad, Ezili her to travel further than she had originally intended. Remembering well the dangers of the pride's jungle home the young priestess stopped and looked around, Should I go back? she asked herself.

It really was a nice spot, perhaps it wouldn't hurt to stop for the short time it would take to eat. She climbed to a thicker limb and put down the chunk of meat that was her meal. She was about to begin when she heard something moving clumsily below her and then voices. Strangers! Perhaps there was a reason she had traveled this far, perhaps the spirits had guided her because of these. But was it to bring warning to the pride or assistance? There was only one way to find out.

Food forgotten, Ezili moved silently through the intertwinded branches low enough to hear what the strangers were saying and assess the situation.

Coel nodded to his brother. "I'm fine... never better...." The lion grinned and continued forward a step or two. He wasn't actually listening to more than about half of what his brother was saying. His mind was off on other things, finding distractions in everything around him, and finding amusement in most of it. Everything was a blurry or distorted and it fascinated the lion. His creative mind was distracted by wondering how such a thing could be and of course, miss-placing his steps because of the distraction.

"Huh? Listening to what?" The blue lion put his paw up on his brother's shoulder and tried to walk with three paws and the help. It did not go much better this way, but it did go a little better. The swaying stopped for the most part, but the stumbling continued. Coel was usually a very focused lion even if his attention only could be on one thing at once usually. This stumbling around and such was not like him at all. His fogged brain could not figure out what was worrying his brother, though.

Takoda didn't believe his brother's words. He was out of his mind at the moment. And he wasn't sure why. He guessed it must have been what he ate, in fact hoped it had been what he ate, because if so, maybe he could be cured by retching. He didn't want to consider the possibility that perhaps his brother had wounded himself on a thorn or brushed agained a poisonous plant. That seemed like it woudl be much harder to deal with...

"Try and keep watch on your feet brother. Please? You'll hurt yourself at this rate..." And drag me down with you... he thought, but did not say. Whatever had happened to Coel, he doubted that it was his brother's fault. His brother might have been taken to flights of fancy at times but he didn't consider him reckless.

So concerned was he with his brother's condition and keeping him from stumbling and hurting himself - a great task in and of itself, one he wasn't entirely suceeding at - that he did not notice the lioness above them, watching their every move. "Coel, what did you eat earlier? Was it a strange fruit or plant? I've asked you not to eat strange things unless you know what they are... Does your stomach hurt? Maybe if you threw up you would feel better?" He didn't know what to do, and he was worried about his brother.

As she watched the strangers, Ezili grew more and more concerned. Was the blue one ill? The possibility of a stranger bringing sickness to her pride brought a growl to her throat. Then the spotted lion began to ask what the other had eaten and things began to make sense. There were many dangers in the jungle and poisonous plants and creatures were certainly among them. Although is was possible he had accidently ingested something of the sort, the stumbling symptoms brought another far less dangerous possibility to mind...

She moved aways ahead of the strangers and descended to a branch where she would be visible from the ground. "I fear someone has had more than his share of delicious yet overripe fruit," she said in a conversational tone, refraining from welcoming or greeting them just yet and going straight to the point.

Coel batted playfully at his brother's muzzle and nearly managed to stay up while doing so, though he really missed the muzzle by a long shot. "I ate fruit... very sweet fruit... maybe overripe... don't feel sick." He grinned and looked at his brother as he added a bit more. "Feel wonderful!... maybe little dizzy." He added the last bit quieter. His speech was suffering, but he didn't point that out to his brother. It didn't occur to him really.

Coel went cross eyed trying to focus on the female that had just hopped down from a tree. The cross eyed made him stumble for not seeing where his paw was being placed and he shook his head and got his eyes refocused. "Only had a few... not many." He started thinking about how pretty her pelt was and his mouth engaged. "So pretty, eyes like gemstones... stripes like a zebra... enchanting." He didn't even realize he had said it out loud, which wasn't surprising in his current state.

Takoda easily evaded the way off the mark swipe of his brother's paw. "Fruit...? Overripe fruit?" In his mind, Takoda recalled something vague about overripe fruit potentially having this effect if eaten in a large enough quantity. "Coel, how much fruit did you eat? Was it large?" Ah jeez... depending on the fruit, his brother could be either drunk, or have poisoned himself. He was still weighing the options over whether or not he should try to get him to throw up, or if that would be pointless considering how drunk he already seemed to be, when the lioness made herself known to the pair.

His first impression was surprise coupled with wariness. Her presence had gone completely unnoticed to him and normally he wasn't one to miss such things, as the wind had been in their favor. Unfortunately the state of his brother had driven him to that much distraction.

His second set of emotions were relief and hope. Maybe this lioness could offer them some help, or at least direct them to where it could be obtained. "Hello, my name is Takoda and this mess of a lion is my brother Coel.... I think he's eaten more than a smart share of some overripe fruit... "

Takoda cocked his ears towards the blue lion leaning on him and snorted in both annoyance and amusement when he described the lioness in such rapt detail. ...He hoped his brother would sober soon, otherwise he might roar at him or erupt into laughter soon, possibly both.

Well at least the blue one admitted to eating the fruit, that was a good sign. "Oh I'm sure you didn't have much of that yummy sweet fruit at all," Ezili replied to the blue one amused. She felt a thrill of pleasure as the drunk Coel complimented her looks, but didn't show it. The young priestess didn't get much of such attention from the males in the pride. "That's sweet of you to say Coel, but lets see what we can do to get you a little less tipsy."

She turned to Takoda, now all business. "Greetings to you Takoda. I agree that his symptoms seem to be from that indulgence. I am Ezili, Priestess of Eywa, Mother Goddess of the pride that calls this jungle home. I would ask you what brings you here, but first I think we should do something for your brother."

She ventured to the ground, still keeping her distance. "Fresh water and food will help to counter what he has ingested and begin the healing. Chances are he'll get sick and have a terrible headache later but let's try to minimize that. There is a stream nearby and I have some food unless some opportunist has stolen my breakfast while I watched you. Follow me, this way to water." She moved slowly as much out of disorientation on being on the ground rather than the highroad as out of consideration for the pace of the brothers being slowed by Coel's condidtion.

"You are very pretty, and ssssweet, yourself." Coel grinned in the most goofy manner at the lioness. "Tipssssy? I'm not tipsssy." He sits down just so he won't fall over. "I'm Coelessstinus." He was having a royally hard time with his "s"s all of a sudden, and he was a little more aware of the speech problem than before, but not much. "Water sounds good... very thirsssty." He wasn't really hungry, but he did notice the dryness in his throat. He also noticed the prettiness of the lioness in front of them too, but that was a different matter.

Coel let the other two talk and slid himself down onto the ground to lay there, still feeling very lightheaded and suddenly feeling very tired. He yawned and looked around, giggling at some random funny looking bug. He did not really want to get back up when the lioness said to follow her, but he managed to push himself to his feet, nearly falling over twice in the process, and toddle after her in a rather zigzagging pattern. He grinned at Takoda and spoke a little to loudly. "She is even pretty from here..." He meant of course that her tail end was pretty.

Tadoka nodded in agreement with the lioness' offer of help. She seemed to understand what had happened to his brother, and better still, how to deal with it. He couldn't help but think that she had just become his brother's savior, and not just from intoxication, but from his own growing feeling of irritation, that thankfully since the appearance of the lioness, he was starting to feel subside. Coel of course, considering his state, was likely to be heedless of Takoda's emotions the black and white lion knew, but even if he was, Takoda, though easy to anger, wouldn't hold it against his sibling. His concern outweighed anything else he was feeling. "You are indeed tipsy, Coel, there's no point in denying that." he snorted, holding back the urge to laugh.

He sighed as his brother struggled to first get to his feet and then stay there. Really, one would think it would be easy enough to walk on four paws, even in his intoxicated state, but apparently that wasn't so... "You can't take a nap here Coel.."

His eyes turned to the lioness who had just introduced herself as belonging to a pride, surprised at this new information considering their location. It was possible for lions to live in a plush jungle such as this? It both amazed him and filled him with curiosity. "It's a relief that you understand what's happened to him and know how to cure it... I thank you for your help, as I'm sure Coel will once he's feeling better... We will follow you to the water. After my brother is more well... could I ask you more about your pride? This place seems wonderful, but as if it would be dangerous and difficult to live here..."

"Coelestinus!" He hissed in admonishment as they followed the lioness on the ground towards the water. "However true that may be, save saying things of that nature for later, you dolt!" Great, he was going from being silly and slightly annoying to embarrassing them both. "I apologize for my brother, he's not in his right mind, I swear. He isn't usually this way..."
PostPosted: Sun Mar 11, 2012 6:12 pm

"I'm glad the spirits guided my path to cross yours. There wouldn't be any long-term problem but I certainly understand the need for reasurance when one's sibling isn't himself. I'd be happy to give you some more information, in fact it is neccesary should you wish to remain here much longer." It acctually surprised the priestess that none of the warriors or hunters had encountered the pair, then again even now it was possible they were being watched by others of the pride.

She moved forward picking up speed as the brothers followed. Ezili had to use all of her self control to keep from laughing at the brothers, Coel especially. She turned and grinned at Tadoka, "It's alright, I understand he's not himself."

Finally they reached one of the streams that traveled throughout the land. To show all was well she paused for a drink herself before climbing to an overhanging branch. "It would probably be best for Coelestinus not to be alone, so I will go see if my food is still where i left it, if you do not mind Takoda?"

Coel grinned lopsidedly at his brother and half closed his eyes as if smug that he had said what he did. In light of the disapproval from his brother, one would think Coel might be trying to goad him. Of course that was out of place for Coel more than any of the other behavior. Coel went out of his way NOT to earn the wrath of anyone as much as he could, or got too distracted by making things to really notice them to irritate them. The smugness in this case was not at upsetting his brother, but at the fact that the pretty lioness had not taken offense at what he had said.

When they got to the stream, Coel waited only as long as it took for the lioness to move back from the water to stuff his muzzle down into it and start lapping away. He barely had his nose above the water, and was using and under water tongue action to nearly shovel the water into his mouth as he swallowed as quickly as he could. It seemed like no matter how much he drank he was still thirsty, but he kept drinking anyway. It was several minutes before he finally lifted his head again and looked around, wondering where the lioness was. He weaved his way over to a soft bed of moss and laid down for a bit, his head on his paws. A nap sounded wonderful to him.

Takoda sighed in much relief when they reached the waters and he could finally let go of his brother and stop assisting him through the motions of walking. He didn't mind helping him, he wanted to help him, but being constantly almost tripped up was absolutely no fun. A smile crossed his muzzle to see his brother dive right into the water and immediately try to drink his fill. It was also comforting to see that the lioness had taken a drink herself to reassure them it was safe.

"Don't fall in, Coel..." he mumbled as the other lion drank, wary and worried about more calamity befalling his sibling. For that reason, he stuck close, lapping up only a few mouthfuls himself, not moving any further away than he needed to, just in case he had to pull the blue lion to safety. In his current state, his ability to swim would be questionable at best, and Takoda wasn't the strongest swimmer himself.

The moment of peace was such a relief that he sat immediately once his brother decided to lay down, heaving another great sigh. He nodded to the lioness' words, grateful for her help. If the lions that lived here were this helpful, maybe it would be a nice place to stay....

"That would be fine, I thank you for your help in leading us to the water..." he laid his own head down once the lioness had disappeared from his sight, not at all inclined to take a nap just yet, but still tired none-the-less.

Ezili watched as the brothers drank and then settled down. She admired Takoda's patience in caring for Coel, though she could see the strain it was putting on him. She nodded as the black and white male thanked her and acknowledged her suggestion. "You're welcome. I'll return shortly."

She climbed higher and disappeared into the foliage feeling much more at ease there than she had during her time on the ground. As she backtracked she wondered what Coelstinus was like normally and how Takoda would be when not so worried.

Those thoughts brought her back to where she'd started and her breakfast was still there. She closed her eyes and whispered prayer of thanks before picking up the meat and making her way back to the brothers. It seemed they had found some favor here and Ezili hoped they'd understand and choose to remain. I wonder where they'll fit in. she thought to herself and looked forward to a chance to get to know them better. If they choose to stay. But she rather thought that they would....
