Alessa sat behind her desk, Arianne's application form in front of her. This was the applicant that she had been most sure of. Even if her business experience was in fashion, it was clear that she had the savvy and intelligence to make it in Ventrue. That and her loose ties to her family made her an utterly ideal recruit, as far as Alessa was concerned. She felt a small bit of pity for the girl, losing her family, but, well, were she to enter the clan, she'd be getting a new one, wouldn't she?

With swift paws, Arianne straightened both her dress and her hair. The beaded belt resting on her waist was shifted ever so slightly. She wasn't nervous. Business people didn't scare her, really. This was the world she knew only all too well. No, she was quite prepared for this interview. Arianne followed the directions meticulously up to this point and planned to continue doing so.

The regular female found herself just outside the office of the interviewer earlier than instructed, which she figured would not be unusual for this business arrangement. Arianne smiled a little, then lifted her paw and knocked on the office door, awaiting further instruction from within.

Alessa heard the knock at the door and immediately turned on the Majesty, another layer to the test. She now appeared as a figure of absolute command and authority-would that bother her little interviewee? She hoped not.

"Come in!" She said, taking a sip from the glass at her desk. It was filled with a liquid that simply had to be wine...but it was far redder and thicker than wine ought to be...

Arianne followed the female casually to her desk and stood for a moment, taking in her surroundings. Of course, her focus was on the authoritative figure before her. A simple smile spread across her lips as she offered a paw towards the other, wishing to show her respect to her interviewer with a handshake, if desired.

"Ma'am," she said with a tone of both pleasantness and firmness. She watched her carefully as she took a sip of wait seemed to be a glass of wine. Perhaps a freshly fermented glass? Regardless, that was the interviewer's business.

Should the female disregard the outreached paw, Arianne would take no offense to it. She would simply withdraw and fold her paws together, placing them on her lap as she took her seat. "I've been looking forward to this meeting since receiving my request for the interview," she said with a smile. "If you'd like, I'm willing to dive right into the drill of the questions."

Alessa graced Arianne with a smile, and took the offered hand, shaking it casually. She withdrew her paw and took another sip from her glass, then set it back down, rather glad that the girl seemed unaffected by her drink and by her aura.

"Good to hear that," she said. "Eagerness is always appreciated." Her tail twitched. "Well, let's begin with the basics, hmm? You mentioned owning a fashion business. Tell me a bit more about that."

Sitting up straight, Arianne smiled again. "Ahh, yes.. My business. Practically my pride and joy." Being surrounded by corporate officials and the like, the regular female knew how pressing they could seem. But she felt confident enough talking about herself as she had showed such promise to almost everyone she'd met before.

"The fashion business can be grueling, I will admit; but, as I'm sure I mentioned in my resume, I'm good with a needle and thread. I used that to my advantage with a little research and discovered I made an even better business woman. At least, that's what I'd been told." She gave a little wave of her paw at her hip, showing her bit of modesty.

"I deal with all the financials and the budgeting, as well as made my own pitches and proposals to work with bigger corporations. It flourished more than I ever could have expected," she finished, with a slight sigh and a ping of frustration. "But, as you can imagine, there's only so high up you can go working in your own business."

Alessa nodded along as Arianne talked, a bit of a smile flitting across her face. The girl's love for her business was clear. She was also glad to hear that she dealt heavily in the running of her business-were she just a designer, that would have been that, and she would have submitted the girl's name to Countess Duvessa as a possibility for Toreador. But no, she clearly had a businesswoman's heart, and that was exactly what Alessa was looking for.

"It's clear you love your work," Alessa said, "so tell me something: could you really leave it behind completely?" Her ears flicked a bit. This was an important question, because that is exactly what she would be asking were Arianne to be Embraced.

The question lingered, almost as if the words were floating about around the regular girl's ears. Arianne finally cleared her throat and spoke, "I've given it a lot of thought. A regular customer of mine had shown interest, and while I don't know her personally, I've met her working within numerous conferences before." The girl was not entirely sure of the situation, but she was dedicated in everything she set herself out to do.

And so Arianne continued speaking, "I've talked it over with her. We had agreed for a full entitlement to the business, should I move on elsewhere. And she promised to take good care of it, though I have no intention to keep tabs. I have a good feeling about her, which that kind of judgement develops from years of experience dealing with the business world."

The regular girl shifted slightly in her seat, allowing her tail to flick back and forth behind her. She looked across the desk to her interviewer and asked politely, "Now, if you don't mind me inquiring, what services would I be assigned to in my starting position here, should I be hired? I understand there's many departments within the company and I would gladly work wherever I am needed most."

Alessa nodded along. So she already had a successor in mind, how interesting. "So you have been considering moving on for quite some time?" The question was mostly rhetorical; it was clear from her explanation that she was. And that she was fully prepared to simply set her business in someone else's hands and leave it be. That was excellent. It was exactly what Alessa needed to hear.

The regular's question caught her briefly off-guard, however, though she forced herself not to show it. Where would she be working? Well, Alessa hadn't exactly put much thought into where she'd be sticking her new fledgelings other than repair duty on the Haven back on Hemlock, but that clearly wasn't the answer that was required. So she did what she did best. She lied. "Based on your qualifications, likely in our accounting division; we have something of a shortage there." She said. That was a bit better than the truth-'well, you see, I'm actually an age-old vampire and I'm considering making you one of the undead because it looks like there's a war on the horizon and my clan has buggered off on me.' Right. That would go over well. (Not to mention that it would shatter the Masquerade, and for the Prince to do something like that? Unthinkable.)

When the interviewer asked about her moving on from her business, Arianne simply nodded. Determination was a fickle thing, and once it set in that the girl could do so much more for herself, she'd simply been looking for opportunities to expand her knowledge and expertise. A larger, already well established corporation in which she could work her way up the ladder? Well, that was just the change of scenery that she needed.

"Accounting," Arianne repeated with a smile. "That I could certainly do." Her paws found each other once again and clasped together in her lap. In the midst of the momentary silence, she looked around the office again and just smiled. It felt good to be preparing herself for something new, should she be hired on. Of course, this would probably lead to the girl working long hours, but she'd moved out of her family's stifling cottage long ago. Surely her father wouldn't take much notice if she kept herself busy.

Arianne focused back on her interviewer and asked politely, "Is there anything else you'd like to discuss, ma'am? I am but an open book in the eyes of another business professional."

Alessa let a smile work itself onto her face. She liked Arianne very much. This was exactly the sort of talented, dedicated sort that Clan Ventrue needed.

"Ah, I'm glad you'd be willing." Alessa said, and she chuckled quietly. Letting silence hang between them for a bit, she subtly took in the interviewee. Yes, she looked the part, yes, she acted the part. She was exactly what Alessa wanted.

"I think we've covered everything. Thank you very much for your time, Arianne." She stood up and offered the regular a hand. "We'll call you in a few days to schedule a second interview."

Arianne stood and carefully took the paw of the interviewer once more, giving it a slight shake. "No, no," she said, smiling, "Thank you, ma'am. It was an honor, of course." The girl then stepped back casually and gave a final nod. "I look forward to your call." And with that, she gave a slight curtsy and turned on her heels. The girl was quite pleased with herself and with the interview. A second interview, she thought to herself, is always a good sign in the business world.
