User ImageIt was a largely average day in the lands and the morning was slowly melting into the glow of the afternoon. Sorley could be found, as usual, lounging beneath one of the larger trees that stood in his forest home. He laid on his stomach with all four of his feet kicked out as he leaned his small body against the trunk of the tree.

He had been taking a nap, but now his charcoal eyes gazed out into the sky in wonder. Sometimes Sorley wondered how far the sky went and where it came from. Although, from the looks that adults had given him, he typically refrained from asking such questions. He was very curious and intrigued by the world that surrounded him and wanted to know more about it.

There weren't many others around in the area, so it was mostly just him and world when he came here. Turning his head and looking to the direction where he knew the rest of his family was, he absently wondered what his siblings were up to.

User ImageErskine was, as usual in the forest, bored.

The little cub had inherited his father and grandmother's foxy looks (or a version of them), but he had more of his grandfather Aesir's personality. At least that was what he believed, in his little cubbie heart. He wanted to be a fierce warrior, fighting and brawling with the other Stormborn cubs, and instead he was stuck out here in the woods. Frowning to himself, Erskine wandered, keeping an eye out for one of his brothers or sisters. He had to spar with somebody, or he would never become a great warrior!

And there was Sorley, flopping around under a tree like he had nothing better to do. Erskine trotted up to the dark-colored cub and puffed his chest out, looking ferocious. "I challenge you, Sorley!"

At the sound of his name, Sorley looked up to see the familiar pale form of his brother Erskine. Slowly, he stood sighing to himself and thinking, 'Not again.' While he more than admired his brother's zest, he wasn't exactly one to go around challenging others willy nilly. Although, having siblings that did ensured that he was just as strong and fast as the rest of them. No amount of laying beneath the canopy had hindered that aspect about him even though it wasn't of any effort of his own.

Facing his brother, Sorley replied with a lazy voice and half-lidded eyes, "Alright, let's go." Having done this before, Sorley didn't bother to really focus, knowing that he still had just as good a chance at winning. Even though he had primarily led a languid lifestyle thus far in his short time of existence, he did enjoy living among the vikings. He didn't necessarily want to be the next captain, but he planned to prove himself along the way one way or another.

Sorley was usually willing to fight, but Erskine privately thought that his brother was lazy. Once Erskine got a bit bigger, he was going to move in with the rest of the Stormborn and have real opponents to spar with. Then he would be a force to be reckoned with! He favored Sorley with his most fearsome scowl.

Erskine might have the heart of a little warrior (or at least, he thought he did), but he didn't have much experience or finesse. The pale cub gave a war whoop and charged straight at Sorley in a blind rush, seeking to jump on his darker brother and knock him down.

Sorley grinned at his brother's brashness and managed to quickly dodge him by ducking low and scampering away at the right time. The charcoal cub rounded back to face Erskine with a growl and swiped at him, just barely grazing his hind end. He constantly kept an eye on Erskine, watching him. After all, watching was what Sorely did best as he could usually be found staring up through the canopy at the passing clouds overhead. The cub had skills of his own even if they were passive ones. Even so, observing others and being able to predict their behavior was just as important as knowing where to strike.

He breathed harshly, ducking, dodging, and trying to land a hit on his brother as they moved around one another. Despite the fact that he'd normally rather not, Sorely did enjoy sparring once in a while. He liked the exhilaration of the fight and trying his best to defeat his opponent. However, for now all he was trying to do was defeat Erskine so that he could continue his business of the laying beneath the trees.
