Sungus stalked along the sands of the desert coast, just south of Baj-Jer, at the edge of the seal colony. It was astounding sometimes how many of them there were; the only thing that kept this place from being perfect was how bloody loud they could get. Still, it was a small thing to toelrate for easy prey when they wanted it. Those lumbering, blubbery creatures didn't move very fast on land, although they did have some good teeth on them. He knew from past experience that those could hurt.
It had been a long time since he'd been on the receiving end, though, as it wasn't often that he chose to hunt anymore. Being the Bey did have a few advantages, here and there.
Still, on a whim, he threatened one, chased it a little ways and watched it flop gracelessly to the safety of the water. Stupid, ugly animals.

Basil sim Fath had been to the Baj-Jer not all that long ago, seeking herbs and what not amongst the rather noisy oasis. Prey was as thick on land as their noises were in volume and though it was likely to cause his head to ache, should he linger too long, the middle-aged healer found himself drawn to it. The battle for the Baj-Jer had been hard fought and hard won. He felt some sort of guilt over having not been fighting himself, but the battlefield was no longer his to participate in, bar trailing behind and sticking near at hand to heal those who were grievously injured.
At least he still had purpose and a way to serve his pride-mates. Had he not, he surely would have been guilt and grief stricken over his own uselessness. It was while he mulled over the thought of what he would have done, should his father not have taught him the way of the healer, which mostly included an almost suicidal assalt on the rival pride, that he caught sight of his Bey. The male was chasing one of those hideous, yet delicious seals and as it flopped to the shallows, Basil couldn't help but to chuckle.
