The Sinking City

[The Wild Hunt]

The Sinking City is near the very center of the northern pole and is a region that constantly sinks down and then floats back up. It sinks and rises slowly, but often. A full cycle of sinking and rising will take place in only about a day or two, and anyone in this area after it sinks is almost definitely going to die. Nonetheless, the very center of this "city" is a bustling place of wildlife safe from humanity. To get there, you must be a true waterbender in your own right.

Dark skinned hands lifted to raise a fur lined hood over her head. She was sure to get her hair with it as well so it wasn't whipping around in the winds. How in the world was she supposed to figure out how to get a Buffalo Yak?

Maru would know that she would not find any of the Buffalo Yak by just standing around. The cold air still at it's freezing point, bring chills to her body but protected well thanks to her for her skinned fur cover. She better make a move on of making any effect to even find the animal.

Forcing down the lump that was growing in her throat, the female Maru child pushed herself to go forwards towards the land she had not come across before. She had to find a Buffalo Yak somewhere around here, but it would require some time before she'd catch sight of anything. Her brother and father had taken her hunting a lot before, so she knew what to look for when it came to tracking. The only difference from what she had done, to what she was trying to do, would be she wasn't after the meat of the animal she was going for.

As Maru moved forward, she found a empty plastic container buried in a snow. Possible some garbage washed up from the ocean. There's also some cloth sheet and bits of wood that are too wet that it can't be use as fire... Further in the distant, a very tail ice thing is seam to be sticking out of the water. Though it's a building that already reached it's sinking point. There's no way around it and continue on with out any more ice over the large mass of ocean water. The wind suddenly picked up, dropping the temperature as night was coming.

What should you do?

Izumi leaned down and picked up the bottle, peeking inside to see its contents. She'd heard of this city before, it raised and sank with the coming tides of the seas. The day was coming to an end, so she moved as far as she could until she'd could go further any more, and set the jug down. Withdrawing the items within, she spread the sheet out so that there was a lot of give and wrinkles within it. Taking four of the pieces of wood, she made sure that the sheet was secured to the ground well enough for what she had planned. Slipping within the sheet, she quickly began to work on what she needed to do next. Settling the last few bits of wood she had together, she concentrated as best she could so that she could withdraw the excess water from the wood. Once it was done, she let the water soak into the ground a bit further away from her.

She had seen her brother do this before, although his was a bit different. Rubbing two of the sticks together over the others, it took a bit of practice before a small spark was made. It was all she needed though to kick up a slight fire. Izumi didn't want it too large though, or her device wouldn't work. At this point, the sheet was using her body as the middle of her tent like structure, but slowly, the warm air that was being created by the fire was lifting up the sheet. At the same time, the air was enough to keep the temperature outside of her sheet from really getting to the Maru girl. The female had created her own heating device and land-based hot hair balloon to keep herself warm. Izumi knew she wouldn't be able to track anything at night, especially if she couldn't get past that building that had sunk into the water. She could attempt to cross the water by bending it around her feet, but she'd rather not take the chance of failing and plunging herself deep into the water. The chance of hypothermia was not on her list of 'to dos' for the year.

Maru made a wise choice of setting up camp and to use her water bending to dry off the fire wood. Because night fall came quickly and only the stars and the moon are shining the darkness beside her fire. She still haven't found any use for the empty bottle yet. The only use for them is holding something in it; anything liquid or anything that fit in it. They been used to drink water out of it, but being surrounded by salty sea and only snow, drinking the sea is a bad for your health.

Directly at night, the sinking city already reached it's point of raising back up. The moon is shining nice and brightly, shining onto the iced building that reflect like a glowing crystal palace! The city is up in the surface, but it's still too far in the water to reach it. There's only large bits of ice surrounding the city, with flat surfaces and the hole body easily drifting around from the water. Maru will have to think of a way to get to the city before it will sink again.

Izumi peeked outside of her small hot air balloon and looked at the city before her. It seemed as though it was starting to rise from its depths. She watched for a tiny bit longer to make sure she was seeing it right before she took her small place down and stuffed what she could back into the jug that she tied to her belt. The female would need to make sure she had both her hands for what she had planned next. Waiting until one of the large chunks of ice were near her, she jumped to it, slipping a bit and falling to her knees. It shifted and squirmed beneath her weight for a moment before settling itself. Thinking for a second on what she could do to solidify her ability to walk she attempted to use her new-found bending to assist her movement on the iceberg. It moved, slowly, but still moved. If she could continue like this, she'd be able to ride the iceberg to the city when it was fully emerged. The only thing she'd have to do now is wait until she could step foot on the crystalline palace that took it's sweet time raising from its hidden world.

Maru does a fine job of using the ice to flout close to the castle with the help of her bending. Of course falling down to the freezing salty water would be bad.

The large chunk of ice have reached over to the flouting city, giving Maru a ride to there. Once She reached to the other side of the solid ground, the Frozen city is wide open and is within Maru's reach. No doors, but open entrants to casually walk in of the glamorous crystal city beaming off from the Moon's raise.

Walking deeper, deeper into the Maze like crystal area, Mura will find her self seeing the place filled with animals. There wasn't just Buffalo Yaks that she was looking for, but also Tiger Seal, White Hamsters, Koalaotters, and so on. They all resting calmly and peacefully on their own against the icy surface. All of them would notice a human came to their peacefully place but will may little attention to her. Better yet, they will stand out of her way. Every time they would come even close to them, they would get up and quickly walk away from the human. How will Maru get a Buffalo Yak back to the Tribe? Just a bunch of shy animal and some annoying sound echoing just around the corner.

The Maru was a kind hearted person, and knew that it would come to her aid in this situation. Animals had the ability to sense someone's intent by their physical stress levels and scent. Not to mention the way their body moved. Izumi was a sweet child who wanted nothing more than to find a Buffalo Yak, not harm it, and return home. It was going to be daylight soon and she'd rather not take longer than needed to perform this. Settling herself on the ground as close as she could get to the animals without having them move away, she closed her eyes and calmed herself. Letting her breath settling into a rhythmic pattern, she waited. That was all she could do. If she was correct, the animals would soon see her as a non-threat and become more easily accessible for her to move around within and not have them flee from her in fear.

One of the buffalo Yak got curious of the quite human and walk close to it. This one is young, little known of the great danger of things. Always like to explore things, filling it up it's curiosity.

The small Buffalo Yak came close to the girl to sniff her first. Hot air breathing down onto her should then move up to her hair. Giving off a nice pleasant sent and long layers like yummy grass, the animal start nibbling it. Tasting that it's not a nasty grass at all.
