It was a nice thought, to think that the Great Lady would answer their prayers, should they offer them. Ishara's mother had always taught her that although she very rarely made herself known, the Goddess of Pestilence was always listening, always watching. Looking to reward the devout, and punish those who turned away from her. Perhaps if the Pride as a whole got together to pray, she would come to their aid. "I will discuss it with my fellow Priests and Priestesses."
That was all she could promise, for now, as another thing that her mother had taught her was never to rely on the Great Lady for anything. Not in a bad way, but more in the sense that the Great Goddess most likely had better things to do than to intervene in the lives of her followers every time that they willed it. Be devout, and if your prayers were answered, be grateful. Simply as that. As she consider this, a look of sadness graced her face. How would her mother have handled all of this? Ishara had only set out on her own path quite recently, and so only time would tell.
"We must remain devout." She added, almost to herself, as her mother's teachings went over and over in her head. If they lost their faith now, who knew what would become of them?
