Sky Bison Stables

Along the edge of the Eastern Air Temple lay the nests of the Sky Bison, a large, flying, six-legged beast that is native only to the air temples in the high mountains. Below the nests lays a flat valley where the Sky Bison frolic, play, or just simply sleep.

Rustling through some bushes Palka found his way into the pastures of the infamous Sky Bison. Double checking that no one followed him the young Airbender thought the coast was clear as he let out a loud, high pitched whistle. In a matter of seconds Palka's "friend" revealed himself.

His name was Pompoh, and he was an adolescent Sky Bison. His horns were basically nuns as his thick fur draped over his eyes. The color of his pelt was reversed from the legendary Appa, giving Pompoh a tan stripe down his dirty brown coat. Reaching out his arms Palka revealed the leeche fruit to Pompoh, trying to hoax him into his playful nature. With a large whiff Pompoh grew ecstatic with envy as he rolled out his tongue, slobbering up the fruit in his hands.

Covered in Bison slobber Palka laughed as Pompoh enjoyed his treat. The two of them began to wrestle, a customary playing trait among sky bison; even though Pompoh had the advantage. After ten minutes of wrestling Pompoh laid down to rest; he was a rather lazy Bison. With nothing better to do Palka began to practice his airbending training.

Palka started off slow, trying to understand the fundamentals that the grandmaster had taught him. However, there was little prevail. With his eyes closed the Airbender began to move and sway like the wind as he stumbled countless times to the ground. This began to annoy Palka as he got back up and tried again. 1/10

Ten minutes had past of Palka falling over on his butt, but determined to figure this out Palka continued to practices the movements of an Airbender. Overtime it seemed that Palka began to fall less and less. Now everytime Palka would weave and bob it would seem as if he had a druken swagger. 2/10

For a brief second Palka seemed to have the jist of the Airbending technique when.... *plomp* the young bender found himself falling over again. The thud of Palka falling woke up Pompoh as he lazily starred at his buddy. As for Palka he simply slapped his hands on the ground as he got back up to try it again. 3/10

The afternoon seemed to grow long as Palka and Pompoh continued to work on Palka's fundemental training. As Palka swayed back, and forth, Pompoh let out a juvenille roar. "What do you mean im not moving with the wind?" Palka asked Pompoh sarcastically. Pompoh murmered under his voice as he rested his heads back on his arms. Now that Palka thought about it Pompoh was somewhat right. It was almost as if he was trying to force the issue instead of trying to, "move with the wind." Taking a deep breath, Palka raised his hands in front of him and began to move about the field; this time he would move WITH the wind, and not against it. 4+5/10

Pompoh monitored Palka's movements with minimal interests as he moved and swayed with the wind. Like a feather trapped within a gust of air, Palka began to twist and turn, from clockwise to counterclockwise. However, his movements were still somewhat...static. 6/10

The sun was starting to decend as Palka worked hard into the afternoon. As he progressed in his training he thought about the things his grandmaster taught him, about how airbending was the portrayed as freedom. Taking a deep breath the soon to be Airbender lowered his shoulders as his body became much less tense. 7/10

It had appeared as if Palka had caught Pompohs attention as the overall flow of the benders body became smooth, and graceful. As the wind blew through the valley Palka's body tossed and turned with it almost lifelessly. What had started out as training had quickly became an interiptive dance. 8/10

Palka was finally beginning to feel as if he was actually starting to get the hang of Airbending. His movements were becoming graceful, swifter, and much more agile. Throughout his training Palka began to feel the channeling flow of chi course throughout his body. 9/10

Near the end of the evening Pompoh began to wake up as he stood up from his nap. It was clear to him that Palka had a long, hard days work of training as his movements became almost flawless. Suddenly through his training Palka noticed the wind kick up along with his movements a clear symbol that Palka was learning something, but more importantly he was a true Airbender.

"Pompoh, Pompoh! Did you see that did you see that?!" Palka pointed in the direction that the wind was blowing. Unfortunately for Palka he wasnt paying attention to the long reach of Pompoh's tongue as it ran up the benders body. Covered in slobber, Palka glared back at Pompoh. "Very funny!" Palka knew it was all in good fun as he hugged Pompoh's large, fuzzy dome. At the end of the day Palka had to return home, and Pompoh had to return to his nest.
